We’ll start with the other stuff.
A view from the Kennywood Train-the new Braddock lock and dam.
This is a photo of Pittsburgh’s downtown taken with my digital from near the Chevrolet Ampitheater on the South Side. I made no adjustment in color, crop, or contrast, the day was just that beautiful.
And now for the critters.
This is Miss Lily, our little hussy-girl, and our handsome boy, Dylan.
Here is Biscuit Kitty, grown up, and as a baby.
And of course, Biscuit lounging on our piano.
because he’s so darned pretty.
…because you just can’t have too much cuteness.

What IS that, JLongs?
Love your photos. Beautiful kids, beautiful flowers, adorable animals, what better way to start a Sunday? Thank you!
Ps. Do you know about the new book club? I recall that you offered one for awhile here. Hope you can come.
I asked that very question in a garden blogging diary, and was told it’s “amaranthus caudatus” or “Love lies bleeding”. Neat flowers. I want some in my garden.
and very acrobatic squirrel
but Biscuit doesn’t take it.
I want to rate them both a 10…just like the human in us all….:o)
They do get pretty close to the house sometimes.
he was the most incredibly cute and tiny kitten-we had to feed him from an eyedropper for a while.
and he did grow up into a wonderful cat.
my elder daughter with my “heart dog”, Max (who left us about four years ago) and her cat, Quincy, who is still with us and is a cranky old man at 16.
So sweet. My dogs and cats tend to pile up on my lap at the same time, too, sometimes with a cat lying stretched out on top of a dog. Don’t you love those moments of Peaceable Kingdom?
Here’s another one, more recent.
Biscuit loves dogs-and Thomas loved Biscuit. They would give each other baths all the time. Unfortunately, Thomas was a foster dog who fought with Dylan too much for us to keep him. I felt terrible taking him away from Biscuit but the fighting was too much.
Then he made friends with my daughter’s cat Turtle, in the photos above, and turtle insisted on chewing on wires and not stopping (we tried everything to get him to stop) so he ended up going back to the shelter.
He was a very cool looking cat. The shelter is no-kill and assured us they could find him a home where he was kept busy enough to not chew on stuff-the only thing that really worked and the only thing two adults working full time couldn’t do.

……….andn this is the reason why spiderleaf should not leave us here…we all can and will get along….no matter what our views are…this is great to see…..
I had that thought, too, Brenda.
I especially like the dog and cat pictures. You do a good job of capturing animal personalities.

Thank you. I was really looking forward to the photo fair and almost forgot to participate!
Great idea. Thank you for the work you’ve done on it.
I didn’t have a picture of Quincy alone-here he is now in all his cranky old man glory.

Awwwww…Biscuit Kitty was such a cute baby! Miss Lily and Tito should get together and see which species could outrelax the other!
What species is Tito?
I forgot which diary it was in, but Tito was very relaxed.
Ah…I think cats are innately more relaxed than dogs-because they know they’re invulnerable.
Of course there are exceptions. Puppies for one.
Miss Lily amazes me, though, because she had a very, very difficult life before she came to live with us. She was a brood bitch in a puppy mill, had multiple caesarian sections, probably because she was too petite to give birth naturally. She had multiple internal adhesions, toenails that were over an inch long, (from living in a cage) flea-ridden, and fur stained with urine, feces, and who knows what all else. She had never been in a house, never known any affection or love, and she came into our house as a foster dog and just decided to trust us. I don’t know why. Needless to say the “foster home” situation didn’t last. I think it was about a day before we had fallen totally in love and decided to keep her.
But she’s a happy, well-adjusted, sweet, exuberant dog now. If I had the kind of life she had, I don’t know that I’d ever be able to relax. She sure does now, though.
Oh what a horrible life, Miss Lily had before you. I’m glad to hear that she’s having a better one now. You guys are wonderful people.
