New episode tonight: “White House counsel Oliver Babish (Best Bet favorite Oliver Platt) questions Toby (Richard Schiff) about the White House leak — until Toby realizes he might need to retain his own lawyer after all. What’s happening over there? Josh (Bradley Whitford) and Leo (John Spencer) left and all heck broke loose!”
P.S. The Seymour Hersh / Scott Ritter talk and Q&A is on C-SPAN2 again at 7pm PT. I plan to watch again and tape it this time. There’s too much important said for me to trust my memory alone. OPEN THREAD:
My favorite graphic today!
oh, how sweet it is!!!!! that was just great! Thanks
Susan, do you suppose what the line that was spoken on WW should happen to someone near and ear to our hearts? It did sound so very good to hear!
BRENDA! I Just had to rush to the computer!
OMG! Oh, let us hope and pray that’s exactly how they do it. Sweeeeeeeeeet.
(Wish I were watching with you!)
P.S. Another great graphic:
FireDogLake
me too, Grilfriend! Just that way….Are you watching it now? If you are we can discuss; otherwise, I will not give away anything to you..ha ha
I think we can as long as we put SPOILER WARNING above.
I get the east coast feed via DISH so I’m watching the NYC NBC station.
–SPOILER THEORY —
i think Toby may be falling on his sword to protect Leo.
Ahhhh… my weekly dose of adult leadership. Anybody else sick of children and their insipid “blame game”?
Blame game? No, we’ve had enough of your games, thank you. Blame is for children, adults take responsibility.
Bartlett was tough, wasn’t he.
And you could tell, by his demeanor last week, that he knew it was Toby.
Can you in a million years imagine:
Nope. Can you imagine Oliver Platt sending Jeb Bartlett puppy dog birthday cards and “publicly scatological” humor?
Bush’s circle is the creepy family that lives next door, all smiles until they go inside and pull down the blinds.
Susan, I must tell you I do not watch WW normally. All the players are of course unidentifiable for me. I watched the beginging to night and then had company drop in for a while. So I lost out on watching it tonight. What happened to sortta catch me up on things?
SUMMARIES of “West Wing” from TV Without Pity … btw, they have summaries of all the TV shows + a forum.
Thanks Susan, hugs
Patrick Lang’s bio is running into the following front page diary again on Firefox. Also does a teeny bit on Safari, but not as bad; just displaces the heading but doesn’t interfere with the text box.
Wonder if this is some sort of CSS interpretation problem? Or tags in general? Just a bit offputting…
(And in Safari, the diaries list shows up in really small font, but that might be a preferences issue on my end…)
Thx.
It’s odd, and it suggests to me that you have your default font setting in your browser set at a smaller font size than is usual. if your font is set smaller than normal — either on your browser or your computer system settings — what you see will look entirely different than what most of us see.
But i will take the photo out, and then you tell me if that helps.
THANKS!
My Opera too!
btw, I use Safari too. I haven’t downloaded FireFox on my Mac since I like Safari fine (altho I LOVED FireFox when I had Windows!).
I just tested the page in IE / Mac too. Appears fine in both — there are two paragraphs of the main text after the bio box is done.
My computer screen setting is 600×800. What’s yours? (btw, this is why Web design is such a huge pain in the ass.)
Photo is gone. Does that help?
I think it was the photo that set it off; not sure what my screen resolution is, but probably the fact that I’m on a 14″ iBook doesn’t help matters. Great incentive to get this mess cleaned up so I can get the new computer desk for the 20″ iMac I’m lusting after; besides, we need it for domestic tranquility purposes…the spouse and I keep nagging each other to let the other use the damn computer…and it’ll be much easier with a 20″ screen for the spouse to read BooTrib over my shoulder (lol)…
from a trip to a conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ditched the conference for 2 days and drove down to Moab, where I looked at the fabulous rock formations and went horseback riding. The aspens are turning–they turn together, I’ve heard. It was a great treatment for PISS–preindictment stress syndrome. But then I bought and read Joseph Wilson’s book, The Politics of Truth, on the flight home. Great book: I recommend it. (A lot of people on this site have probably already read it.) He seems like a real sweetheart, aside from being right about a number of very important issues.
But I DIDN’T watch the West Wing. I can’t get myself to watch anything on TV except the Animal Planet, even though I pay 40 bucks a month for the privilege
welcome home. Glad you had a nice trip. Now lets got own to business. We all here want you to tell us about the book!!!!!!:o) It does sound interesting.
was this California surfer hippy type, who took the foreign service exam on a whim, got offered a job in Africa (in Niger to be exact) and went on to spend many years there in the diplomatic corp. He gained a very in depth knowledge of the region, and even though he was appointed an ambassador by George Bush’s father, became increasingly agitated by how the present administration was (and is still) distorting intelligence data to further their crazy schemes.
Valerie Plame is his third wife and he is crazy about her, but his foray into journalism exposing these wrongdoings cost her her job. She also sound like an incredibly talented person. I hope that she can get another job where she can use her talents.
is worth the $40, even though I want to throw a shoe at some of the assholes who abuse their “pets” on the Animal Cops episodes.
Got to admit I have cable mostly for sports…oh, and subscribe to HBO for the spouse to get his “Sopranos” fix whenever it starts up again, though I do have “Shrek 2” on the DVR for watching sometime soon…
BROKEN RECORD SUSAN: TUrn on CSPAN2
World Series watching. Wistfully West Wing will wait.
Okay. We’ve seen it out here now. So many questions. What is the blonde girl up to? Can’t think of her name but she sits in on meetings in the Sit Room and she had a couple quicky meetings with someone named Charlie (?) who I can’t remember seeing before.
Also, I wonder if Toby is falling on his sword to protect Leo? I missed last week (DARN!!!) so I know I missed a critical episode.
Thoughts anyone.
Hi guys – couldn’t get to sleep.
Hey, whatever happened to naming the
Booman frog? ‘zee gotta name yet?
I can’t remember which name won the vote … Einstein?
How are you? Hope you got to sleep!
When and where will the Hersh/Ritter discussion be aired?
Yeah, I got sleepy about midnight, but up at 5:30.
I think I’ll put a diary up, FTFOI.
