I had to use that photo because when I typed “reading a book” into google, it came up with that and labeled it READ__BOOMER.
Which is not such a subtle way of leading up to asking you if you’ve voted for the next BooBook selection? Right now it’s a dead heat between CONSTANT GARDENER and OH PURE AND RADIANT HEART. Make sure your fave wins! Here’s the link to that diary:
Here is the direct link to map ourselves!!!
Hi Kansas….saw your pic and you don’t look like I pictured but then I have been wrong about mostly everyone except Sven who look exactly like I pictured.
Wonder where catnip is and why hasn’t she put her’s up….Catnip where are you!!!!!
Second the motion. I just put a hold on Oh Pure and Radiant Heart at my local library, and can probably get it within 2 weeks.
I’m on the hold list already for Constant Gardener, and am currently something like 58th in line.
(I know, part of the point of the book club is to support the site by buying from Powell’s, but I have absolutely no budget for buying new books.)
Also, Oh Pure looks like it would be a blast to read and discuss. And I would love to talk about books with y’all — one of my favourite activities with rapidly becoming one of my favourite bunches of folks. 🙂
Ah yes, my husband and I have had that discussion about Aleutian Islands could be said to have anything that could be called a beach. Maybe the trick is the phrase “public beach.”
From my 7th floor office window, the lovely sunset colors were mostly due to the air pollution from the downriver chemical plants. Sigh. Clean air. . .some day!
It’s been a busy day of gluing and screwing at the Gooserock/Puget4 craft shop.
Last night we saw the Andromeda galaxy for the first time through our bird-watching telescope, quite an improvement over binoculars, for about 1 minute before clouds moved in. That’s one I won’t be able to capture for you with my string and bubble gum photographic techniques.
We caught the final 30 seconds of the Woild Serious, and now we’re vigillating cautiously over Fitzmas.
TOOO funny…. Gooserock hasn’t seen this yet or he’d be blushing. Tee hee!
It has been a good day though. My contribution to the Gooserock/Puget4 workshop was gluing and tacking and wrapping, oh my! I had a wonderful nap after supper. And now it’s time for the dishes.

Thank you, Diane! I can be such a code doofus. You very kindly provided the code for that link and could I get it inserted into my diary? Noooo.
Please vote for OH PURE AND RADIANT HEART!
I’ve already checked it out and I’d love to read it with everyone.
Please?

shhhh, I’m investigating ways to hack the Booman Polls….
If we whisper, no one will find out. (Hehehehehe)
I’ll never tell–that’s the book I want, too.
Which book will win?? They’re all tied up again! Oh, the suspense! Just what we needed around here. More suspense.
We’ll have to have a run-off
I thought the Cafe could use a photo…it’s looking kind of wordy and colorless.
How ’bout we sit here and watch the sun go down.
(Ok, I’m cheating…this is the sunrise…but I’m on the east coast for pete’s sake, whaddya expect?)
Not only sunset but the farthest west you can see a sunset on a public beach in the united states (polihale on kauai).
Man, you get around! Not in that way of course. I mean globally.
Man, you get around! Not in that way of course.
That is an enduring disappointment in my life.
I mean globally.
Which is how I compensate.
I would think most people (read that: me) do it the other way around.
the fact that I generally do things back asswards has been an enduring disappointment to my mother.
if you include beaches where boots, gloves and dense fur coats are required for survival.
But I like this better!!

Great pictures, however.
BREAKING: Giant image invades FBC; smashes tiny, helpless pics underneath its massive pixels, attacking with reckless abandon and ruthless cliches.
Oooh. Ahhh. That’s beauteous.
Thank you, ma’am. I like your picture, too. It makes me want to get a blanket, stretch out on the beach, and fall asleep listening to the waves.
Everything but the oaks has finally started to turn so the color is pretty good and the sun finally came out to give us some nice light and shadows.

Nice work, picture people!
Tomorrow will be a nice day to take a good book and go to the Palais Saint Pierre gardens:

Let’s adopt an organization like Kiva! Got $20, $50, $100 to lend, get paid back for, and then re-lend?
The gift that keeps giving.
Let’s pick one and throw our generosity and collective conscience behind it. Please start by recommending this very worthy diary.

Gorgeous picture!
Just because my mother raised me right, I’m not going to make any remarks about you and Puget4 and gluing and screwing. But I am going to think them.

See you in a little….
REALLY don’t want to get the wrong way around.
