Juan Cole posts prove stolen election in Iraq.

I don’t know that he intended it to be that way, but Juan Cole’s post today drops a bombshell that proves fraud in Iraq beyond a reasonable doubt. His posts, plus other reports on vote suppression point to a systematic attempt by the Iraqi government to stuff ballot boxes and then adjust the totals when people noticed the high yes vote.

The province in question was Ninevah, a heavily Sunni province. Initially, Cole reported that Ninevah went 75% yes on October 17th. I questioned the result at the time, wondering why an ethnic group so suspicious of the US suddenly turned around and voted yes. Now, Cole’s latest figures show a 55% no vote. A two-thirds no vote would have sunk the Constitution.

Calipari Forensic Investigation Concluded

The forensic investigation of the Toyota Corolla in which Nicola Calipari, a high ranking SISMI officer, lost his life closed yesterday with its deposition at the Rome Procura. Its conclusions contradict the US Army investigation, says il Manifesto in a full page scoop today, October 26th.

Nicola was killed by a single shot fired by Mario Lozano at the temporary Blocking Post, BP 541, set up in the night of March 4th for the passage of Ambassador Negroponte. Calipari had just freed Giuliana Sgrena, the reporter from il Manifesto, and was returning to the Baghdad airport to fly to Rome.

Imagine yourself being picked up by the authorities, questioned about your travels, sent overseas for some ‘bodywork’, kept in captivity for a year and then released without so much as an excuse, a reason or an apology. Not even an Emily Litella look-alike offering a “never mind.”

Sounds like a nightmare that would take place behind the old ‘Iron Curtain’ or some other fascist state.
