been caught web surfin, once … Liberal Street Fighter
I stumbled across a couple of interesting tidbits today in my link hopping. Pat Robertson’s bete’ noire, President Hugo Chavez, made another provocative statement in a BBC interview:
Asked why he thought the US was trying to invade Venezuela, Mr Chavez said: “We have denounced intentions.
“A coup happened in Venezuela that was prepared by the US. What do they want? Our oil, as they did in Iraq.
“We have detected with intelligence reports plans of a supposed invasion, one that would never happen. But we have to denounce it,” Mr Chavez said.
So what does this have to do with France?

Every day I look to the front pages of many Blogs for analysis of recent news releases from various media sources. While this analysis is invaluable, it is also important for us to keep in mind this important thought:
For much of its life the castle has been owned by members of the Hamilton family. The older part of the castle is said to be haunted by a “Grey Lady” who starved to death in the dungeons of the castle because she had the plague.
Pretty symbolic of the New York times plight as they are starved of readership. Many of those readers will now avoid them like they have the plague. The irony is that the Grey Lady is avoiding the REAL NEWS like the plague, and that affects our liberty.
Judy Miller can proudly turn to her fellow neocon elitist elbow-rubbers and proclaim “Mission Accomplished!” as she drags the NY Times down to the gutter with her.
Mind you, her editors have helped that situation along as well, by failing to get the stories that, in the past, they would have been breaking.
Stick a fork in the Grey Lady. She’s done.
“Baby let me follow you down…”

Rory Carroll was released by his captors according to Ansa dispatches a few minutes ago.
We’re beside ourselves with joy, laughing and crying. Thanks so much to everybody, susanhu, Mnemosyne, everybody.
Please remember, please remember the extraordinary reporters out there and how much they have given us.

Most people here think that Paul Hackett is a pretty neat guy. Generally, they’re pretty fond of Sherrod Brown too. The primary between these two could be a good thing, if it gives Hackett a chance to show his chops and Brown a change to prove his widespread appeal. It will, however, definitely not be a good thing if they lay into each other and leave themselves exhausted for the general. That’s where we come in. Candidates look at the blogosphere like a piggy bank? Fine. If Hackett and Brown don’t keep this primary clean, then no piggy bank for you!
