which means, that I will always fall through the cracks of disability. I was relieved when the repubs gave up on cutting programs for the poor, even though I do not get food stamps, or medicaid or anyother type of gov’t assist. I have a hard enough time paying rent and buying food at the same time. I am a college grad, and can’t find work tha twill pay enough to let me live decently. partly due to the starbucks economy, which shows me over qualified, and partly due to my invisible disablity, for which I am no longer seeing my specialists cuz I lost my benefits, and I have to jump thorugh the exhausting hoops all over again….
this blows….
Dear RoaringGirl, I am so sorry. Another casualty of Bush’s War for Profit.
They come for the gay.
They come for the disabled.
They come for the dissenters…
That’s how it started in Germany…
Keep the faith that things will turn around and that there are people fighting for you.
My dad’s mother was one they came for – disabled. His dad, for “anti-German” activities in the Netherlands
would you do if you had your idea job?
My ideal job? Seriously: A popular character on a long running tv show – my degree is in theater (a very useful degree…). 26weeks @600/week is doable…
in the “day job” world? One where I can break as I need to – the tbi leaves me easily brain tired. Prior to my injury, I worked as a non-Equity stage manager and a $20/hour temp. This gave me a about 30K, year.
I am working towards my Pro Tools Audio Mix/Post certification which will open up several doors for me. it’s tough test. I currently have a two month 2 day/week job @ $14/hour, plus sound board operator gigs that balance out that. and, I am looking full time for a job that pays what I am getting now, which again is $14/hour. not easy. and, I have a small podcast program focusing on the smaller, limited run shows off-off Broadway.
