Seattle’s NPR station does remarkable local programming that’s of national calibre. Today, at 1pm PT, for the hour, KUOW interviews Lt. General William E. Odom, U.S. Army (Ret.), “former Director of the National Security Agency under President Ronald Reagan and now a senior fellow with the conservative Hudson Institute. He’s currently a professor at Yale University. General Odom argues for a withdrawal of troops from Iraq.” LISTEN LIVE (any Internet speed works). Call the show via (206) 543-KUOW or (800) 289-KUOW, or email the show at conversation@kuow.org (your e-mail question may be read on the show). Listen to the archives after 2pm. OPEN THREAD!
I hope one of you calls in to the show! (I’m too shy but some of you aren’t shy! DO IT!)
Joe Scarborough is alright sometimes. Scroll to “RFK: BENDING HISTORY.” (I can’t find the specific link to that post by Joe.)
I’m sure it was covered here (I’ve been absent too long) but in case anyone missed it, you’ll want to read Odom’s article.
What’s wrong with cutting and running?
I hadn’t seen that at all. Thanks for posting this!
You’re welcome!
It’s an excellent take on the reality of the situation, I think.
Appropos to nothing, the University of Kansas will be offering a course debunking “Intelligent” Design as non-science.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/EDUCATION/11/22/intelligent.design.course.ap/index.html
A course being offered next semester by the university religious studies department is titled “Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism and other Religious Mythologies.”
“The KU faculty has had enough,” said Paul Mirecki, department chairman.
“Creationism is mythology,” Mirecki said. “Intelligent design is mythology. It’s not science. They try to make it sound like science. It clearly is not.”
Sad, isn’t it.
There are so many REAL problems and issues in the world.
Good move by the science community.
I’ve said for a while that wherever you have a modus operandi that reaches conclusions based on the absence of knowledge, (i.e.; “If we can’t explain it it must mean God did it!”), you have a belief-based construct, not a science-based one.

Alrighty then.
Now that’s an honor! I’ll have to e-mail Pat Lang and let him know.
