That must be the European version … here in Greater Jesusland the Puritans objected to Crazy Frog’s “free willy” there. Wish I could find the BBC piece about it a few months ago – it was a hoot.
This is a structural, not a philosophical issue. The modern economy has passed an efficiency threshhold such that business, and the economy overall, don’t profit from individual reason and wisdom any more. This in my opinion is why the morons can beat all comers these days. Most everything about modern life here is working towards their goals.
All the pressures driving enlightenment out of America are working everywhere else in the global economy. Our example could be your future if you allow profit too much success and too much independence from culture.

Brother, I give hugs every day. Love should be given when one doesnt expect it or needs it the most..I appreciate all that you have done for us here. Lots of hugs going out to every one today and every day. I love each of you. Have a great day and stay out of trouble, if you can…..;o)
Good morning from the great state of Tennessee. It has definately turned off cold down my way. I suppose it is just the time of the year for this. The sky looks like it could open up and deliver something to us today. I just hope it aint any more wet stuff…
The cats have been up for hours now. Eaten, P/P and now are back to napping like only cats can do. I really wished when I die and if I do get to come back as something or whatever, I get to be a cat in a house like mine. Geez what a life to have….:o)
This pic has consistently failed to load for me, so I’ve been using my imagination to envision the gaudiest, flashiest piece of mantlepiece kitsch I can think of. Am I on the right track?
Good morning frogsters. I have been hit with a bug and have that nasty cold that has been going around. It keeps moving around from throat to nose to head to chest….ugh! Lots of vitamin C, fluids, rest and football for this ol gal today.Go Chargers! Go Bears!
Oh no aloha, my son and daughter are still feeling the effects of that cold, and the cough lingers for a long time with them…so far I have escaped it, keeping fingers crossed.
Weird weather today, that cold wind, and I am sitting here waiting for the house to heat up as I had it off during the night.
Take care and here are hugs for you. Keep warm and cozy…
Thank you Diane and Brother. I am taking good care of myself…got to, no one else to do it…lol! Daine…good luck with the move. I find moves a great time to weed out the crap I hang on to. I look at some things and think what the heck am I saving this for.
Mornin everyone, hi Brother…as some of you know I am in the middle of a move and this week may be quite busy, especially tomorrow, so I would like to have a sub for the FBC tomorrow, anyone wanting to guest host, let me know.
Also my arm cannot take these long days of blogging so I gotta rest it some…and do some real life work this week and the next couple weeks.
Have a great day everyone, I’ll be in and out of site…
I would offer, Diane, but last night I lost a crown along with part of the buildup and a piece of my molar, so I’ll be having an emergency dental visit tomorrow.
But good luck with all the offline things you have going on, I wish you the best.
Unless somebody who really wants to do it jumps in, I’ll do it, though it’ll be the bare basics tomorrow. I’ll post and run, probably, and then check back to see when we need a new one.
Good luck with your moving! And your not moving. 🙂
In case I miss it, if anyone else offers, give them the goahead, I will pop in and can maybe post one during the day, for full diaries, but not sure how the day will break out.
On weekends around Limelight Farm the choice is between flour (pancakes/waffles) and eggs (fried/scrambled/omeletized). Today I chose flour that was served in the form of waffles along with percolated Colombian coffee, fresh-squeezed OJ/g’fruit juice “cocktail,” real butter, and real Vermont maple syrup. The latter is an authentic treat to us in SoFla.
But to get this fabulous breakfast, I had to just say no to scrambled eggs, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes, and English muffins.
My question is, did I make the right decision? Did I sacrifice too much? Should I have held out for both? Would demanding Canadian bacon with that be considered too greedy? What would Jesus do?
I’ll tell ya, after Turkey Day I took my leftover herbed mashed potatoes, mixed them with a little flour, a little scrambled egg, and some milk, and they were the best potato pancakes I ever had. But you’ve given me the idea to serve them with bacon on top next time…
You are both obviously lonesome and hiding yourself in all of this “cooking things”, I think we all ought to show up and help you out of this downer you’re both in.
Hey Tracy, I hope everything goes as well as possible. I’ve had a ton of MRIs, as long as you’re not claustrophobic, they’re a breeze. Most places will give you headphones, too, so you can rock out while you’re in there. 🙂
for a really hairy migraine. A pit tumor didn’t show up then so perhaps wasn’t big enough to view on a CAT scan if it was there then. I have held my son’s toe through a few MRI’s but it will be my first for me. Something calming would be very nice in the earphones.
I actually had an MRI of my pituitary just a little bit ago to rule out pit tumor. I have autoimmune disease with a plethora of endocrinological & neurological symptoms (many the same as yours, from when I read your diary about it), so they have to test me for stuff like that from time to time still looking for possible causes. Just got the bill this weekend…yikes. Good thing I have Medicare.
I’m having trouble parsing that last phrase, but I wish you all the best tomorrow, and will be thinking of you. Were you aware it’s International Hug Day today?
benign tumor they believe that I have is known to also induce amazing orgasms. I found more than a couple of blogs talking about combining it with Viagra for a mind altering older adult sexual experience, but I think I’m too tired.
Best of luck tomorrow Tracy. I had both a cat scan on head for migraines to rule out tumor possibilities about ten years. All was well. The an MRI about a year ago for severe shoulder pain in both shoulders. Cat scan was a breeze. MRI was very loud and too closed in for my comfort level. They failed to give me any noise reduction devices and towards the end I thought I would just about go nuts. Insist on earphones of somesort and maybe bring those little spongey ear plugs. Again best of luck. Keep us informed sweetie.
I’ve had the CAT scan and MRI for migraines. The MRI is very loud and I agree with getting a pair of those foam ear plugs just in case they don’t provide anything.
I hope everything turns out good for you and lots of hugs on this hug day.
I’m glad the picture is working for you — I suspect it might be working for the purple trees too since I gave them quite a step up in the world by calling them redwoods instead of redbuds.
Ya know, you keep talking about those galloping orgasms you’re going to be having, and we’re all going to be asking you to share your meds!
Good luck with the MRI, and you know we’ll al be sitting here thinking of you and sending good wishes your way. What are you taking along for the headphones? Cabin the Elder did the open MRI last year (it is very weird to look at the wrinkles in your kid’s brain while they’re doing the scan), but I don’t remember it being loud. Probably because I was next door with the technician.
Can’t stay too long — the spouse wants the computer. We’re trying to wait till MacWorld SF to get the 2nd computer (some vendors offer great deals), but it’s tough!
Went out last night and saw some BEAUTIFUL light displays at a local theme park; it’s not your typical theme park either, it’s all wooded and foresty, and the rides aren’t too kitschy. 🙂 Had fun, but I wasn’t feeling great (short sleep the night before) so we may go again next weekend so I’ll have more fun. The admission also included a great all-you-can-eat dinner with ham, turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and apple crisp, so we’re definitely going to try and eat lightly today — may go out and get a couple of fish fillets for tonight’s dinner.
Okay, want to check a few more things, then let the spouse take over for a couple of hours…be back in a while…
Here in the big town in Alabama they have a little Christmas lights village, and it is pretty cute even though they do have Happy Birthday Jesus spelled out in Christmas lights. I tried to spell out Merry Constantine Propagandized Saturnius in my own yard this year but I ran out of lights.
IndyLib, you had a brilliant poem on the poetry thread last night. Amazing that you wrote it in college. I’m bringing it up here because I didn’t want to divert that thread and I don’t want to make you go over to the old BooBooks thread.
You had a stanza that seemed to me to speak to our BooBook. . .
But then, the lack of personality always takes its revenge
on people who only want to say,
`Yes’.
Reminded me of the heroine, Ann, and in a way of Oppenheimer as he was portrayed in the book.
Just wanted to say that, but really, the whole poem is wonderful.
Thanks Kansas. The assignment for the class was to “steal” phrases from 3 books and craft poetry through and around them, so I stole much of the language from Nietzsche and then twisted it, blending and warping to make it fit the theme of the poem.
I was older than usual in college, though, a freshman at 26, so it’s not as impressive as it sounds. The poetry I wrote when I was actually 18 is of the embarrassingly bad teengirl variety. 🙂
I can’t believe that we now have about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground. My hubby is taking Andrew to the park later for a sled ride while I go see the movie “Rent” with some friends. Until then, I’m just grading papers.
Hey Janet. . .thanks for the hug. They always help.
I was just being a 13 year old instead of the this me. . .crying over the cyberspace goblin that ate my “homework”
I spent 2 1/2 hours writing my heart out on something that was really important to me. I was all the way to the end of my “story.” I was pretty pleased that it was well written and said things in just the way I wanted to say them with the emotion and passions of the moment that I wrote them in. Just checking gramar, spelling and stuff when my dial-up connection dropped me and it all disappeared.
After using up my ready supply of cuss words and screaming Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! at my computer screen. I was a heart broken teenager. Certainly not the first time I have ever lost anything to cyberspce. Certainly I know how to rationally deal with such frustrations. I just didn’t want to. I wanted to feel bad and cry some crockadile tears and have someone say, “”there, there, it will be alright, but I know it hurts right now.”
Couldn’t find anyone in the middle of the night that was able to play caring, understanding adult to my adolecense.
Oh my God, that is the most horrible aawful frustrating annoying piss-off thing when that happens! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had something similar happen when I was working on something, and had to re-write because there was no way to get it back. Made me scream and curse like a sailor…I feel your pain!
Thanks CabinGirl. . .the thought and attempt counts a lot. It was no big deal, except that I was intent on making it one. I wrote the lengthy (of course) account of it above to Janet Strange.
Just an adolecent hissy fit. I got over it, but it helps knowing that others care.
From the original Frogs® you can only find on the other side of the pond.
That must be the European version … here in Greater Jesusland the Puritans objected to Crazy Frog’s “free willy” there. Wish I could find the BBC piece about it a few months ago – it was a hoot.
In French, we say “Bonjour!”.
By the way, since the age of Enlightenment, Free Will is one of our core values…
The Enlightenment concluded on these shores 25 years ago.
<sigh>
Well, it’s about time to send you the new version…
and heads up to you who still have it.

depending on taste!

Oops! Images take forever to load on this emergency computer & I didn’t see your 2nd one Brother.
(hug) right back
It’s “Hug a Frog” day
For those of you who like kitsch:
This pic has consistently failed to load for me, so I’ve been using my imagination to envision the gaudiest, flashiest piece of mantlepiece kitsch I can think of. Am I on the right track?
It’s a little fairy princess climbing up onto a lily pad to kiss a frog wearing a prince crown.
Ooh, that sounds as bad as I imagined! Thx for filling me in.
It’s even worse!
Good morning frogsters. I have been hit with a bug and have that nasty cold that has been going around. It keeps moving around from throat to nose to head to chest….ugh! Lots of vitamin C, fluids, rest and football for this ol gal today.Go Chargers! Go Bears!

Diane, I’m sorry but it turns out that I can’t do it after all. 🙁
As head revolves all the way around. I can do it, after all.
Stay tuned. No really, I can.

Sure, the price of admission to my place is a dose of that orgasm strengthening medicine. 😉
been trolling for one…..I got a good one too so thank you!
Miami FL
right decision? who knows. did you enjoy it?
as for me, pancakes and such are like chinese food – i’m just hungry an hour later. so i tend to not do such.
besides, i really like my food savory/spicy. if it ain’t dessert, don’t make it sweet.
: p
Big MRI tomorrow most likely followed up with some of that yummy orgasm strengthening medicine.

we need a “hug” comment rating option.
Headphones or no, she says they’re quite loud, so the music teacher in me is inclined to recommend a little tissue in the ears either way.
I must say though, we weren’t offered any of medicine that sounds like that!

If the kids get hold of the recipe, they’ll be humping nonstop, and they’ll live to 150 doing it.
Gives a new meaning to the phrase ‘only the good die young.’
— with both the MRI and that orgasm medicine.
Here’s a picture for you from early spring when the dogwood and redwood trees were blooming.

Not sure how I feel about it. I think it is mainly: oh, no here we go again! (I grew up in Southern California.)
Had so much fun last night with the “marmot xing” sign, I thought I’d drag this one off the street and into the lounge:
I just saw a news report on Cnn front page stating,
Arkansas man caught scaling White House fence.
I thought, finally some good news ;o)
Anyone want to cheer up an Idaho blue girl?
guess I’m off to cry in my corner by myself. . .nite all.
