On Monday our web hosting service Canaca.com arbitrarily and without warning shut off our human rights website www.akha.org
They said that we overworked the server, which is not the case, and we do about $500 of business with them a year.
They are located in Toronto, Canada
We immediately got new server space but Canaca.com refused to release our website files or answer our emails.
www.akha.org is still down as a result.
We have repeatedly written canaca.com to release our files.
support@canaca.com
emergency@canaca.com
No reply.
Our site was too large to back up regularly via the connections we have to a mirror site. Plus the added expense that a non profit can not afford.
You may write Canaca and give them a piece of your mind.

We have filed a complaint with the Ontario Board of Standards as well as the Oregon Department of Justice
Try this Link to see if you might retrieve some text. The images won’t be available this way.
Go here too… Internet Archive for akha.org. They have archives for this site going back to Dec 2000. Nothing for 2005 yet, though, but the google cache may help with that.
Good luck with Canaca.com
Yes, that’s much better. I was trying to remember the name of that or the Wayback Machine or something. I’m glad you came along to provide that one.
I’m still in the process of rescuing some of my stuff from years past, after loading only ‘recent’ material onto a new server, and not backing up older material that I was going through offline… and then having a computer meltdown. So, that site is often right on my mind… thank goodness for the Wayback Machine!
I can’t believe all this stuff on the internet actually fits somewhere. I’m glad somebody thinks to make copies and hold them for us.
Please keep us up to date on this issue, as we have to show “them” that we don’t take kindly to censorship of any kind.
