Sigh, to help Puget4 and partly for my own odds I’m on the low cholesterol. With some of the best clams and mussels around too. But I still have a couple of Saturday morning raw oysters when they’re available.
Tomorrow night we have leftover 2-fish-&-tofu shortcut paella. Very tasty.
Florida Mom’s monitoring her blood sugar several times a day and it’s running the lowest and smoothest ever for her here. Small victories.
Wow, missed a LOT of fun…going to have to go catch up!
Went out to Sweet Tomatoes for soup/salad, then had to go to Tar-zhay; the spread I had for the new bed turned out to be too short for the super thick mattress — ended up getting a king-sized spread, which covers everything perfectly. Also looked for a stepstool of some sort, but didn’t see one I liked; will check the hardware store this week; I’ll just go mountain climbing in the meantime. 😉 (The high bed will be easier to make at least; less bending over.)
Tomorrow and Wednesday, the spouse and I need to finish our holiday shopping, so I can do some baking on Thursday; Friday I’m going up to my sister’s for our family get-together.
Okay, spouse wants to use the computer after he gets back from starting a late laundry load, so need to check the rest of the Internets before he gets back…
I swear, the top of the bed hits somewhere between my waist and my boobage…I can slide off it relatively easily, but climbing on is a definite trick. Fortunately, it’s also a queen (upgrade from double), so I should have enough room so I don’t have to sleep at the edge of the bed and risk falling off (the spouse tends to take up a lot of real estate when he sleeps). 🙂
(I’m not getting into the redneck/not redneck argument)
CabinGirl, I went into too much detail on Andi’s comment. But, I think anything you have to offer — whatever strikes your fancy would be great.
I’m thinking that by talking about the recipes, that gets us talking in a casual way about ingredients. And maybe other people would post recipes. And if we see possibilities of subsitutions (low fat something for high fat something else, maybe) that could broaden the discussion.
I wish there could be a way to index comments so we could get back to recipes latter. And maybe once I got into the habit of blogging and managing a site, it could be expanded into something more flexible.
I just don’t want to delay getting the articles and conversation going while I work on the perfect blog.
I don’t think it matters much what kind of recipes.
What I’m picturing is a blog that pretty simple to set up. And that sort doesn’t commonly have the means for community diaries or tagged articles. I want to get this going pretty quickly and the more sophisticated blogs seem too complicated for quick startup.
I (think) that everyday I’ll have 2ish entries, one talking about tools and strategies. Like writing down what you eat, measuring everything, drinking water. General tricks that we might use in going through the day. In my mind this would be open to comments from anyone. And this might be where people could post recipes. As part of the conversation. Any recipes you want to share.
The other entry would be focused on not eating between meals and not taking seconds, Just for today. The articles would focus on the challenges of that. Maybe some guided imagery tricks. I would request that comments here be limited to people who are committed to this. That it would be a place for people who are committed to and focused on a common goal could share experiences, challenges, encouragement. There could also be recipes here, but it would be in the context of that committment.
Debating the merits of that goal would belong under the first entry.
Then, there would be random entries that are rants on the diet industry, the fast food industry, food advertising, and other nutrition, food rants that might occur to me.
Well, I’ve way past what you asked! I’d say that all recipes are welcome. I’m going to be happy to have any visitors and anything that’s offered will be great.
I suppose one kind of recipe that might be nice is the kind that are very filling without requiring you to eat large portions, even if they aren’t specifically low cholesterol/low sodium. I’m thinking of things like a fish chowder we make or a potato frittata.
The thing about having recipes is that then people could calculate the nutritional values divide by the number of servings and be able to track where this meal fits into the rest of their day.
So the more we work from more formal recipes, the more control we have over our diet.
CANNONBALL!!!
Hi!
hi there. sorry, but i really should be getting to bed … work in the morning and stuff.
Me too actually, I just didn’t want to leave a mess for the night crew.
Just don’t spill your dinner in the tub. Please.
I spy Gooserock fare!! Looks grand.

so it’s true.
White people can’t jump.
Make that “OLD white people can’t jump”. 😉

Another cold one here in Connecticut.
Only a “five minute cold” day. (How long it takes the car to actually warm up… lol) Could be worse.
So tell me what kind of recipes you’d like me to salt your gold mine with and I’ll start getting them ready.
and you know I’m all about the recipes, too!
What kind do you want, kb?
Good morning to you, too.
I think we decided to maybe, possibly, probably not use any from the redneck cafes.
Might not be as much fun as the redneck ones but a cafe with a low-fat, low-sodium recipe theme might turn up so good stuff.
Hey, who you callin’ a redneck? 🙂
Believe it of not, most of the “real” recipes I’ve posted before would meet the low fat, low sugar, low salt, but high in taste criteria.
And maybe just one or 2 redneck specialities?
I suppose there is out there somewhere a redneck recipe that can pass katiebird’s requirements but whatever it is, it probably isn’t much fun.

Good Morning to all. I hope everybody is doing fine today. Is this the new morning cafe or did I miss it?
I think we’re just hanging out here for a while because there are so many clean tables. And Andi made fresh coffee when she came in.
Thank you Andi for the coffee. You are always so considerate. It’s so good to wake up in the morning to coffee and nice people around the table.
sometimes opens a bit later in the morning because Manee lives in Arizona. So feel free to hang out here till he gets it open.
And since it is 4° here, I kind of wish was there, too.
Thanks – I’ll keep checking back. I’ve got to go and cook breakfast everyone here, so I’ll be back later.
