I got the message below as an email. I apologize if it’s old news but wanted to get it in front of a few more sets of eyeballs today. Seems like the least we can do…
I have a special request. I’m sure many of you are currently writing cards to friends and family. If you can, please send an extra one (or 10 or 20) to our American military heroes who are recuperating from wounds this Christmas Season. Please enclose a short note thanking them for their service and personal sacrifice. Your small act of kindness will be greatly appreciated. Here’s the address…

If you would, please forward this message to your email friends.
Please recommend this diary so more people can see it today. After all, 29 diaries on the upcoming impeachment are enough for one afternoon.
have just sent a total of 18 cards and I hope that each of them will help brighten the life of the service person who receives it.
Thank you for reminding me of those who are in the hospitals.
Would be more than happy to. What a great idea! They deserve so much more.
Does anyone know if they’re still being charged for phone calls? I was thinking about adding a phone card to a Holiday card if so.
Unfortunately, I’m only familiar with their needs as recently as a year ago. (I sent quite a few phone cards and holiday greetings to Walter Reed last Christmas and in return I received a highly appreciative letter from a Veteran’s organization.)
If I may, (without being viewed as a hijacker) I’d also like to recommend the program at: http://www.anysoldier.com. The troops throughout Iraq and Afghanistan are dealing with very diverse conditions in housing, climates, food and personal needs in general. (And some of the soldiers would simply appreciate a letter from “home”.) This program allows the troops to post the needs of their units, along with their mailing addresses. (Granted, if you mail something now, the boxes won’t arrive by Christmas – but I doubt that the needs of the troops are going away after the holidays)
Thanks so much for the diary – let’s share some love and generosity with those who could use a little more right now.
