I just got this in an e-mail to the Democracy for Washington mailing list from one of the most hard-working activists I’ve ever met in the Seattle area. Spread the word:
14 senators who might waver on Alito and possibly filibuster. Phone numbers:
1-888-355-3588
and
1-888-818-6641
Blanche Lincoln, Arkansas
Mark Pryor, Arkansas
Diane Feinstein, California
Joe Lieberman, Connecticut
Joe Biden, Delaware
Barack Obama, Illinois
Mary Landrieu, Louisiana
Susan Collins, Maine
Olympia Snowe, Maine
Ben Nelson, Nebraska
Kent Conrad, North Dakota
Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania
Lincoln Chaffee, Rhode Island
Tim Johnson, South Dakota
I just called Sen Conrad, and said to filibuster Alito so as to protect democracy and our constitution.
While we have to generate the pressure on all Senators the decision to filibuster (or not) will also be a leadership decision.
Call the Leadership Offices!
Harry Reid, NV Democratic Leader (202) 224-3542
Dick Durbin, IL Assistant Democratic Leader (202) 224-2152
Patrick Leahy, VT Ranking Member Judiciary Committee (202) 224-4242
Also:CALL YOUR SENATORS!
If Repug, tell them “No” to Alito; if Democrat: FILIBUSTER!

I say to this dude with a “Stop Abortion” picket sign, “I have the answer to abortion: Shoot your dick. Take that tired piece of meat down to the ASPCA and let them put it to sleep.”–Whoopi Goldberg

If you’re so pro-life, don’t lock arms and block medical clinics, lock arms and block cemeteries. Let’s see how committed you are to this premise.–Bill Hicks
The right-to-life movement killed a doctor. Let me use their own terminology against them: They aborted a child in the 200th trimester. People in the right-to-life movement should get a life before they tell other people what to do theirs.–Dennis Miller
These guys say they’re against abortion because birth is a miracle. Popcorn is a miracle, too, if you don’t know how it’s done.–Elayne Boosler

Pro-life people shoot up a clinic and then say, “Jesus told me to do it.” It’s always somebody you can’t get on the phone and verify.–Shang
As far as I know, Obama hasn’t come out in favor of Alito, so what does the list mean, exactly? That they might vote for Alito, or that they might not vote for a filibuster? There’s a problem with the wording. I’m ready to call Obama, but the quoted message seems to suggest there’s something I don’t know about his statements that should be addressed.
I e-mailed Karen and asked her to provide the source, etc.
Karen hasn’t replied to me yet, but she will — she’s a bundle of energy who’s always e-mailing all of us about so many issues.
I think the confusion lies in the wording of the diary: are these Senators who are wavering for or against filibuster?
Thinking of voting for or against Alito?
and her SF office….
i believe arlen spector already said he would vote for alito
he also said that he would be a supporter of women’s rights.
exactly. he always says he’s a supporter of women’s rights during election, and always doesn’t come through when it matters. this is the guy who went to bat for clarence thomas
Wondered if you had caught this. Looks interesting for all of us, but I thought you might be especially interested since it’s a Pacific Northwest group.

Did you say Leiberman “might”? You’re giving him too much benifit of doubt, IMHO.
both of whom are on this list (I live in AR, unfortunately). Feel free to use it when contacting your Senators:
