You could hear the screaming from my house all the way to San Diego!
Lisa Pease (a former Seattle-ite) is here and I just have to go with the underdogs, especially considering how screwed the Seahawks were by the officiating in the first half…
Ask Lisa Pease if she remembers the 1993 Super Sonics playoffs … we were 3-3 against Phoenix with Charles Barkley.
Game 7 in Phoenix.
The NBA wants Barkley in the finals … better ratings.
The Suns scored MORE POINTS on foul shots than they shot in baskets. That tells you something.
I was utterly disgusted. Some pundit types said we were sore losers, but I saw what I saw.
I was beginning to think the same thing was going to happen here.
One thing for sure: They were over-officiating. That can ruin an otherwise good game. The officials at the Univ of Wash women’s basketball games did that constantly … they blew the whistle on almost every play down the floor. It ruined the momentum of the game.
Seattle keeps getting going in fits and starts without maintaining momentum.
I think it’s pretty clear they have the superior team but it’s takeng them a long time to get loose or something.
a couple of breaks here or there could have turned the game. But Seattle dropped too many balls, made too many little mistakes, and they didn’t get the points early when Pitt was too uptight.
This was a great, evenly matched game, and Seattle had nothing to be ashamed of. They just came up a little short.
Well, we were Superbowl virgins, and that does make a difference too … but the refereeing was a big blow.
If everything goes right, we should be back next year.
I can’t wait to read Art Thiel (P.I.) and Steve Kelley (SeaTimes) tomorrow morning and see what they have to say … they don’t play hometown favorites. They tell it like it is. If it’s good, I’ll share it in an open thread.
Was a game unless you like Pitt
Seattle had it going for them and had another penalty that killed their momentum.
I wonder if Susan’s cats know how to dial 911
The Seahawks were so robbed in the first quarter! They should have been up 7 points and the Steeler’s down seven. I can’t blame them if they lost a little heart. You can only bang your head against the wall so many times…!
Thanks, Other Lisa, for the party food and drink! (I came back early to beat the post-game traffic and also to see if my leaving would swing the balance of power. At least one call finally went to Seattle when I stopped watching.)
How are you holding up, Susan? Hey, maybe worst case this just makes them hungrier for revenge next year??
Glenn Greenwald is scheduled to be on

7:45 a.m. eastern time, for a discussion
about domestic surveillance. The
call-in is set to run about 45 minutes.
Good game, shitty officiating…both teams deserve props and Cowher gets his first Super Bowl. Coming thru as a sixth seed is amazing…and Big Ben is now 27 – 4…Jezeus.
This is so sweet, so great for Pittsburgh, for the Rooney family, and for the team that is comprised of some really fine individuals who are important to the community. Hines Ward as MVP just about perfect.
“Pittsburgh, here we come!” says Jerome Bettis.
Notice that the first thing Bill Cowher did was embrace his wife and daughters. Who says real men don’t cry.
Clutch, game saving interception.
Herndon. Wow.
And it killed the Steelers’ confident momentum.
Back to lying down … this is exhausting!

Now run the hell out of Alexander.
Kill time.
No, no, no
A little momentum lull after the TD.
I like how Roethlisberger fought for those extra yards.
Yeah, me too. I don’t care what madden says. It’s the Superbowl
Another drop.
See, I don’t get the play calling. They act like it’s 5 minutes to go in the game. Wasted drive.
Seattle keeps getting going in fits and starts without maintaining momentum.
I think it’s pretty clear they have the superior team but it’s takeng them a long time to get loose or something.
Thanks, honey.
Well, I tell you, if nothing else, we’re used to this.
It’s just sad because the Seahawks, like SS said, are a better team.
I’m glad Holmgren challenged at least one of the bullshit calls.
the refereeing was tough.

Plus, this experience will help them next year.
Thanks, Boo. We did make mistakes but Pittsburgh made some doozies too, and couldn’t even get a first down until late in the first quarter … dunno …
NEXT YEAR THOUGH! It’s a great team and they get along well!
Well, we were Superbowl virgins, and that does make a difference too … but the refereeing was a big blow.

OK guys!…..
Damn.
See?
Drive killing penalty
Seems to be a game, who’s got the momentum?
Was a game unless you like Pitt

Mew, meow, meow…
That’s not a fumble.
No Way
How could they do this to us, super?
If the refs give this one to pitt then I’m with Other Lisa on this.
That was lame.
Wow!
How do you call that one?
Did the grab cause him to do down? Was he already going down? What is the correct rule call on that?
Contact is all that counts
I hate to say it but i think Seattle is just about done here.
Then again the momentum swings have been huge but time is running out.

Thanks SO MUCH for your support, SS.
God, I wish I could get the Seattle radio stations … I need to hear analysis and bitching from Seattle analysts.
The Seahawks played so damn well. We have nothing to be ashamed of on the whole.
You bet Hon
Know what’s weird. I just turned the radio on again, and they’re a FULL PLAY ahead of the TV coverage … why such a big delay on TV time?

I agree with Madden.
CONGRATS TO THE STEELERS AND ALL THAT. HOWEVER THE MVP’S OF THE GAME ARE THE GUYS IN THE BLACK AND WHITE STRIPED JERSEYS. IMO.
Hurrah for them.
Nothing cooler than a good sport
If they had kicked a FG like they should have I would have only been off by 1 point.
Looks like I owe you a cold one Boo.
Next time I’ll get off in Philly on my way down and buy you that beer.
Cool.
I look forward to seeing you and drinking that beer.
