Still waiting on Cabin Girl with those blender drinks! But in the meantime pull up a stool and try not to fall off.
Ha! Class let out an hour and a half early! So here I am…where’s that blender? How about frozen Cuervo margaritas?
(BTW, have you seen those blenders with the pitcher part that you put in the freezer so your margaritas stay frozen while you drink them? I am coveting one of those for the summer…)
Ha ha…I have one of those, though only smoothies have been created….so far. I’m glad you’re back early!
So, is it worth the investment? My old blender has many fond memories from Dead tour when I used to pull it out of my trunk at 2 AM to make daquiris for a hotel room full of crazy hippies…but I’m thinking that freezing container looks like it might be worth the upgrade.
I go through blenders like Kleenex. I always manage to fry the motor by not putting enough liquid in it.
I’ve got a happy story. Today is my Mom’s birthday. When we were kids there was a family that were friends and had to move. Their son was a senior in high school and my Dad told his family that instead of starting him in a new school that he could live with us until he finished school. Well he did and he’s kept in touch from time to time. He just called my Mom and wished her Happy Birthday. She’s as happy as could be right now.
How great that he remembered your mom! And Happy Birthday to her, from the frog pond.
I will and thanks.
How Fabulous!!!! Please tell Mom I said Happy 29th Birthday as no woman is over 29 unless she wants to be.
Yep, that’s me. Get’s kinda weird though now that my son is 24.
I don’t want to mention 29 because she’ll pull out pictures to show how thin her waist was back then. And, it really kind of hard to pull off 29 at 80.
Let her enjoy the memories. My mom pulls it off at 71.
She’s still fiesty as ever and doesn’t hesitate to let you know what she thinks. She and I are the only Democrats/Progressives in the family and my younger brother loves to get her started on GWB. I afraid if anyone ever heard she would be put in jail.
sounds like you inherited Mom’s good sense.
Well maybe. She told me one time that the older she got the meaner she got. In other words, the older you get, you just don’t give a damn about what you say.
I feel that happening to me, and I’ve gotta say it’s a liberating feeling. I’ve always been far too concerned with holding my tongue.
well you folks already know I don’t hold my tongue. LOL I have always said exactly what I thought. LOL
I haven’t gotten to that point yet. It really take a lot for me to get pissed enough to let it all go.
You do not want to hear me go off when I am mad. That is just scary. LOL
I always regret getting mad because what I say never makes sense. In other words, I’ll think later I should have said this or this instead of what I did say. So in the end I just feel stupid when I get mad.
when I get angry I usualyu walk out instead of speaking. It is easier to look back and think was I mad at nothing or was there something there and if there was, what part of it was my fault. I try to work through anger instead of express it because of my mouth. LOL
It appears we use the same method of walking. However, sometimes people just won’t let you walk away and no matter what you do, they want to argue. I’ve never really understood people like that, because I hate anger and I hate arguing. I just don’t understand why people can’t be more like me :).
LOL When I say no to someone, they know I mean no and move out of my way. I hate fighting cause I am a dirty fighter. If it is with a loved one, I will bring up every petty thing that has upset me since I have known them. It is the Scorpio in me. It is also why I refuse to fight. In 5.5 years, Don and I only fought twice. We had disagreements and times I wanted to scream thing but I never would after the first two fights and I hurt him with what I said.
I bow to you. You are a very wise woman.
lol thanks for the compliment but I am a man. LOL
I am so sorry. Please forgive me.
no problem. I have ben called much worse and still answered to it. LOL
I’m just happy you have a good sense of humor :).
LOL I have a totally wacked out sense of humor. I am a firm believer that if you can not laugh at things, oyou can not understand the serious sife of life either. I find humor in all things and sometimes not at the best time. I have cracked up laughing at funerals or weddings. LOL
I agree with you on laughing at things. To me that’s the best part of life is to be able to have a good belly laugh.
That’s cool that he remembered…that’s more than some actual progeny do for their parents…
Got a similar story: When the spouse and his brother were in elementary school, their parents opened their home to a young exchange student from Mexico. He lived with them for a year, then they lived in Mexico for most of the following summer — the spouse, knowing practically no Spanish, traversed the entire Mexico City transit system, but that’s a different story.
Anyway, my dad-in-law noted that the boy had an interest in art and was quite talented, so he encouraged him to pursue that interest; when he got older he immigrated to the States, went to art school in San Francisco, and now has a marketing design firm in Pasadena. He still keeps in close touch with the in-laws; next time we get down to SoCal we hope to have time to visit with him and his family.
It’s amazing sometimes how little gestures like opening ones heart and home can have such an impact…
My oldest son lived in Costa Rica for a semester and stayed with a local family. He had been told that a good way to really learn Spanish quickly was to listen to little kids because they’re vocabulary is easy to learn. So he listened to the 5-year old in his host family and soon he was speaking fluently. But when he went to school sometimes the kids would laugh at the things he said and he didn’t know why. Turns out little Carolina had a speech impediment which he was unknowingly parroting. π
I agree with you. It is amazing how little gestures of just being good to people can mean so much.
Happy B’day to your Mom.
You’ll have ask her if she felt any strange emanations today from all these strange people sending great birthday wishes her way.
Thanks Andi – She knows about the pond. I print out diaries for her to read all the time. If I could ever get her on the computer I think she might be too radical for this place.
I am loving your mom already. My mother and MIL become more and more liberal the older they get.
Two weeks ago my mom (she’s 84) asked me which pro-choice group she should donate to because those “it’s none of those damned people’s business what women do with their own bodies.”
Great for your Mom.
Go MOM!!!!! Give her a hug from me.
She’d like it even better if you came by and gave her a hug. And then she could feed which would make really happy.
Yay mom!
My mom was a Republican the whole time I was growing up, and a member of the Ohio Right to Life group. So her turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous.
Good for your Mom.
Just time for a quick happy hour before I leave to go eat Greek food with some friends.
Happy Birthday to Family Mom!
Please eat baklava for me…and don’t forget to lick your fingers.
I’ll lick my fingers but I like galatabouriko better than baklava.
I have never heard of it, but I have serious doubts that it would surpass good baklava. Perhaps you should mail me some and I’ll give you my honest appraisal. Email me for my street address.
Oh Yeah! With the orange/cinammon syrup…yummy.
Peace
Thank you too. Now I’m jealous. I haven’t had any good greek food since I left Europe.
that my experience with Greek food extends to pita bread and feta cheese… π I’ve got to get out more.
(Definitely want to get out for some good Indian food — the aromas that come from several of the surrounding apartments here make me want to swoon!)
you do need to broaden your horizons as far as food goes. I am always finding new and unique restaurants to try. I will try any kind of food once.
To me it looks like he’s saying, “WTF? Five o’clock and I can’t go home for another four hours? Have you no compassion for that chilled bottle of Chardonnay that awaits me so impatiently?”
[P.S. I’ve tried over and over to reduce the size of this photo, and even though it shows up as reduced in Photo Bucket, it still looks huge on the preview. Help!]
Sorry, it’s way too big and I don’t know why this is happening! I reduced it down to 25% of the original and it still shows up as huge. This is also happening with some of my other images on Photo Bucket.
AndiF?
It looks okay to me.
if it were any smaller I doubt we could see it. LOL It looks fine to me size wise. Caption”Too Bad I am off work and you are stuck in the office. You might want to stop for more winde on the way home as I raided the fridge.” LOL
I always have plenty of extra on hand!
I think I am getting a case of the Kendal Jackson when I get my pay out from the medical claim. LOL
Oh Kendall leave me alone!
Does anyone else remember that song? Oh Brandy Leave Me Alone, Remember I must go home… My parents used to sing it with their friends.
“OK…who’s the clown that shat on my rock?”
Peace
Hey dada … how ya been?
Cold, but I needn’t tell you about that…Calgary, right? Canada for sure.
Been a while, how are you?
Peace
Hi dada … Brrr. Cold here too: -31C on Saturday. Dangerous for the bits. (I’m in Ottawa Ontario btw).
I saw your comment over at Manny’s, and realized I hadn’t ‘typed’ at you lately… π
Catnip = Calgary
I think what happens is that Photobucket caches the images and doesn’t immediately update the cache when you make a change. The other possibility is their software sometimes screws up. Whatever is happening, it isn’t anything you are doing wrong. The only sure solution is to resize the image on you pc before you upload it.
And the image is the right size now. Or we are all gaslighting you. π
Hi Andi! How ya doin?
I’m doing fine. How are you? Is it getting nice enough yet for you to be thinking about what you are going to do with your garden this spring?
No … not yet. It was -31C on Saturday. The backyard/garden is completely full of snow — about 2ft. The fence and hedge holds it in like a bowl. π
I guess you could go out and draw yourself a garden in the snow. π
That sounds right since looking at it later, the image is smaller. I don’t have a program to reduce images before I upload them.
of the seagulls in “Finding Nemo” — “MINE! MINE! MINE!”
Superb film! If Earth survives the Bush Administration, scholars will be endlessly interpreting the significance of finding no man.
It’s probably thinking “Now what human can I find to leave a few droppings on”.
Send him to the White House!
Got to get ready for a birthday party. Everyone in the pond have a good night.
c’mon over!
