Well, I’ve said it like this to people I meet in person;
Since BushCo got into office I’ve made an estimation of what damage they’re doing, call that the tip of the iceberg. Then I assume 6/7s more. Time passes and we see those 6/7s.
And then it seems those 7/7s become the new 1/7 tip of the next iceberg… and on and on and on.
Even as brilliant and well informed as we lefties think we are I think we are seriously underestimating the damage being done, and how long it will take to correct it all, assuming the “pendulum” does reach the end of it’s rightward swing.

I’ve been a big Sasha fan for a long time. Unlike the rest of the world, I never got excited about Michelle Kwan. Guess its the thing in me that tends to gravitate towards the “bad kids.” I always loved to watch McEnroe and Navratilova beat Borg and “Chrisy the Ice Princess.” It looks to me like Sasha is a bit of a bitch – but boy is she beautiful to watch!!
Me, too. Even when she was, like 13 or something, you saw her skate and were just blown away. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her, growing up with everyone in the world seeing that in you and then all the expectations.
Anyway, she was a Diva, but she got the wind knocked out of her sails at the last Olympics and has been having a really rough time, crumbling under pressure at most of the big events. I’ve been feeling sorry for her and I really hope she pulls this one off. When she’s on, she’s the best skater in the world. She’s the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

No, she wasn’t american. She skated in the first or second set. I don’t remember what she wore. Just that she had a lot of speed. And she was very young.
I think it was the one in black and red. I can’t remember where she was from, but they said how tiny she was a couple of times and Scott said he’d been watching her in practice. I just looked at the photo gallery on the Olympic site, but they don’t have a photo of her.

What’s the story with the men’s speed skating — are they having a feud over something? I saw a piece of a press conference and things didn’t look happy.
Yeah, Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick. I can’t stand Hedrick. He wanted to win 5 medals and had a fit because Davis sat out a race. Then, when Davis beat him yesterday, Hedrick wouldn’t shake his hand and Davis called him on it in a press conference.
Hedrick is the one from Texas? He seems like he’d be from Texas.

What did he do to piss off the Dutch curling team? Take away their practice time on the ice or something? Or did he badmouth curling and the Dutch?
I don’t know! Somewhere in there, though, it says that the Dutch love Davis and hate Hedrick. Davis does endorsement deals and everything over there. It also says the curling team showed up with Davis’ mom! The whole thing’s just awesome. I want a Dutch Curling Posse to help me heckle people! No more disputes with the bank or trying to return something to the store!

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, she wasn’t. We have three skaters in the competition — Cohen, Kimmie Meisner who came in 5th, and Emily Hughes, who’s the sister of Sarah and came in 7th.
