OMG, I forgot what it was like to get up early and actually have to be somewhere. LOL I am an early riser but after being off work since December 16th the thought process for getting ready for work this am in not good. LOL I am excited about going back to work but really hate the idea of not sitting around in my sweatshirt and boxers most of the day doing designs.
Wish me luck at my first day nack in the “real” world.

More good news on the design front. Another design is being published in a California paper. I guess I am becoming famous or at least known for my civil rights designs.

I am not by nature an early riser and yet I find myself in the early cafe with increasing frequency. I find this somewhat alarming, but not nearly as much as the idea of a foray into the real world. Good luck.
Mornings aren’t so bad but avoiding the real world seems like a fine plan — and one that dovetails so nicely with your writing career.
Yup. The closest I get to the real world is periodic visits to various sorts of academia, and even the ivory tower is a little too day-job to suit my tastes. On the morning front, I must admit that seeing the sun rise twice in one week is kind of cool.

Does having a host on the west coast mean someone will be around past 9:30 CST or does Izzy go to bed at sundown?
Izzy has told me that she isn’t a morning person. I took this to mean that she is a late-night person but I suppose it is possible that she is a shank of the evening person.
I told you I wasn’t a morning person.
And yet there was everybody with their noses pressed against the glass on Saturday, lined up to get into the cafe.

I have a question. I don’t own a cell phone and my Mom and I are going to have to take a trip. Older brother is in the hospital. It’s a five and a half hour drive and the thought of something happening on the road with an 80 year old woman as passenger is kind of scary to me. I remember reading something Ductape wrote about buying disposable cell phones. Remember I live out in the country, so there are no big store to go to, plus once you get the phone, how do you get it activated and so on. Any help would be appreciated.
I would bet they have them at Walmart, and they activate them right there or by calling an 800 number. YOu can also buy a prepaid cellphone at most stores like Walmart, KMart, Bestbuy etc., for around 50 bucks and buy minutes right there in the store.

I hope it helps. I do think it’s wise to have one when you’re traveling, esp. with your elderly mother on a long trip. I have a cellphone but I keep it in my car and almost never use it, which drives people crazy when they can’t reach me.
I bought my daughter a prepaid one when we didn’t have much money and she just got her driver’s license, so I know a bit about them. Good luck.

Another way you might be able to get a cell phone that is actually cheaper than the prepaid ones is if someone else in your family has a cell phone where the company offers family plans. We have four lines on our cingular family plan; each additional lines cost $20 a month (plus the cost of buying the cell phone) and we can call anybody on the family plan without using up any minutes.
Thanks that is a good idea. Everybody in my family has cell phones except me, so I’ll start calling and see what I can work out. I’m looking for the cheapest thing possible, because I know I would only use it for emergencies.
One problem with the prepaid cell phones is that the minutes expire so if you don’t use them very often, you end up paying for a lot of minutes you never use.
That’s something I wouldn’t have known had I just run in and bought one on the way for the trip. I have to admit I don’t research as much as I should. That’s way all of ya’ll advice has been so valuable.
