Ariana has posted some “mash-ups” of Oscar contending films (combining two or more titles in a new film), and invited others to join in. I posted several, but for some reason only one is actually showing.
So I did some more on my blog, and I invite your perusal forthwith, or fifth:
One of the few charges that hasn’t been levelled against Paradise Now, the Palestinian-directed film up for the best foreign film Oscar tomorrow night, is that it’s boring.[..]
[..]even Paradise Now’s harshest critics agree that it is so well made that it has triggered a campaign for the withdrawal of the Oscar nomination. At an event run by the Israel Project, an advocacy group funded largely from the US, the Academy received a 33,000-signature petition against the nomination.[..]
SPOKANE, Wash. — A man hijacked a Spokane Transit bus at gunpoint and demanded to be driven to a tavern, where shots were fired before he was taken into custody Friday.
No one was injured, Spokane Transit Authority spokeswoman Molly Myers said.
That I am noticing since I have tried to present my view that I think we have to hang together or the other side gets it all again…that it is so unpopular a view that it is ignored completely.
I guess that worries me. I am not happy with our Democrats, but giving up on them scares me that we are handing it to the GOP on a silver platter.
I worry that if we don’t support funding the DNC with small donors, then the chair who really does speak for us will be out….and the types who are content with the corporate money will prevail.
I see it, it is very noticeable. If one even expresses the hope of changing the party, they are ignored from then on basically.
It does not portend well. for the 06 elections. If one says anything they are accused of lecturing, which is not the intent. The intent is true concern.
There won’t be a 3rd party unless a couple of moderate Dems and Repubs band together, but that would be unacceptable here. Hard to figure out why we would risk having nothing right now, unless it is too late and we know it.
I speak only for myself and will offer you this feedback. When I did respond to your earlier posts, (in what I thought was a respectful manner supportive of your right to your views, even if different than mine, ) I felt challenged by you to prove that whatever I’d done was as worthwhile as what you are doing. I do not enjoy engaging in adversarial conversation, nor do I respond well to the message that my opinions and efforts are less valid that anyone elses. This angered me, and I regret giving in to the defensive reaction to defend my own contributions. When I saw this, I choose to leave the dialogue, which explains my own lack of any further response.
I see that you have let go and moved on, and I wish so badly I could as well. I am about ready to do so, and I guess my mixed feelings show sometimes. You made some nice comments to me, and I appreciated them.
I read your series of letting go and moving on, and I envied you that you could.
I did not pick up on the changes occurring here, and that is my fault. I usually am more perceptive.
I thought we had a fighting chance for a while, but just reading the forums now tells me otherwise. So forgive if I was short…it is discouragement.
I’d be ahsamed to tell you you how long it took me to learn how to let go and move on, and have a whole lot of scars gained along my way to figuring it out. I know for a fact that more often than not, I reacted from my own fears and from the same kind of deep heart committment and courage I see in you, to do all I could to make things better. I so admire the kind of committment and courage that you have shown here. I may not choose the same as you about how best to move ahead here, but I am very glad to know you. Thank you so much for your response, and know that what I moved on from that that discussion, not from you.
More hypocrisy from the New York Times as they assert that funding for the Palestinian Authority, as opposed our blind underwriting of Israel, supports terrorism.
Sorry, that was meant to be a comment in response to Ed J’s comment about sneaking into Pakistan with the lights off. Don’t know what went wrong there…
My post above was only to make one think of the word “cow boy”.
No cows were harmed during filming of this epic. The director, dick[dead eye] cheney was shooting blanks in the chase scene.
It’s the weekend, the weather here’s supposed to be nice, and Bush is out of the country…that’s the best I got.
Peace
just re=reading stuff and trying to figure out what to write next..

I thought the Oscars were meant to reward talent and art form. Loads of controversy with this years list. But what’s with this?
The Independent (UK)reports Israelis petition to stop Paradise Now, a suicide bombing film from winning an Oscar. Worth a read. Honest.
What is your opinion of a Senator who doesn’t have details of legislation that is being sponsored on his/her website?
I would have a negative opinion. Why do you ask? 😉
To see if anyone else had the same opinion as I do and you do!
Looks like this guy really wanted a drink:

This is an excellent piece on george’s visit to India.
“An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind.”
visit to Pakistan. As Air Force One was landing, they turned off all the exterior lights and had the press pull down the shades in their compartment.
Does it embarrass the right-wingers when the President of the United States has to sneak into countries like a thief in the night?

No. It vindicates and reinforces their world view. George Bush is such a beacon of liberty that those terrorists will stop at nothing to get him.

He IS a thief in the night & in the day, the morning, evening& in rain or shine. Here he is stealing a little in the dark.
