Hi everyone, Shirlstars is ill with Kidney stones and is feeling very bad, please send your healing thoughts out to her. She has been to Dr. and is on meds and hopefully it will not last too long or be too painful, but I gather it’s high on the pain scale at the moment.
Hahaha . . . excuse me, I’m not laughing at Shirlstars’ ailment and in fact wish her all the best, but you just reminded me of a bit Anna Russell used to do which went something like this:
“You’ll have to forgive the president of the Women’s Culture Society for not being here tonight. She’s been in bed all week with the doctor.”
(laughter)
“I think you’re all horribly unkind, she’s having a horrible time!”
(even more laughter)
Laughter is the best healer Shirlstars, get well soon.
gets pregnant, she gets hit with major kidney stone problems; after her first pregnancy she emphatically said that if her husband wanted another child, HE could have the next one. (It took her about 7-8 years to relent and have her second — and last — child.)
So today my sicko boss called me on the carpet when I wasn’t 100% on the job last week after finding urine in my drinking water, not to mention a storm that left me (in all all-electric apartment) totally without power for two days. He has demanded a six month plan on what I plan to accomplish and how I propose to demonstrate my commitment to the organization…. by tomorrow.
Is it just me, or we missing a little empathy here?
There’s more than a lack of empathy going on here with this ass.
I’d say you’re being set up for being fired.
Instinct and common sense are telling me you’re being set up by their request for a 6 month plan. I doubt any rational person would expect you to come up with a six month plan overnight. So my guess would be that you could request more time to come up with one, ’cause quote, “I’d like to be able to do a six month plan that would properly demonstrate my commitment to this organization, but I was unable to do that on such short notice….etc.”
Alternatively, see my comments below this next paragraph.
I’m not an attorney, but I watched a school board in the public process of getting rid of a lunatic superintendent once. But due to the laws with regards to justifiable firing procedure they had to tell him what was expected and give him an opportunity to change for the better. So basically the school board was protecting themselves, having gotten very good legal advice prior to the meeting. (Ended up the superintendent submitted resignation papers as a bluff that night, and the board immediately accepted.]
Since you are the employee you are on the other end of this equation.
I think you get the idea. But be sure to keep copies of all this, time elapsed between the request and your responses. Keep a diary of everything. If you don’t feel like writing one, get little cassett recorder and talk into that at the end of every day.
Whatever plan you submit, if you submit one, will most likely be used against you at some point. Whatever attempts you make to comply with a plan, yours or theirs, they will be looking to see where you miss the mark.
Actually, on second thought, shouldn’t the employer be submitting the plan? Like the school board did in my example.
We need some legal advice here tonight. But I’d say it’s up to them to tell you specifically what they expect of you, and what’s required.
So I wonder if your employer doesn’t have their end of it confused.
I’d be surprised if an attorney would say it’s up to an employee to define their work description. Seems like it should be the other way around.
whoever you might be.
Yeah, it’s a double…didn’t want it to go to waste at the bottom of the pond.
Peace
Cinnamon Skies!
Gorgeous!
It could be a tequila sunrise or sunset. 🙂
Brenda Stewart would definetily call it a sunrise :o)
Sunrises are full of optimism and hope and dreams of better things :o)
Definitely some optomism needed these days!
