Good Moring Everyone.
For our cosmopolitan clientele we have Latte and assorted goodies.
Or for those on the run we have carry out.
Welcome to the café!
I’m a late riser today. But I’ve more than made up for it. You can share my fresh, as in real fresh, apple coffee cake. Made from an old fashioned recipe and baked in under an hour-from start to done. Oh, I should disclose my recipe has Grand Marnier and bourbon vanilla.
Family Man, those slices of bacon..are they maple sugar cured? Looks like it, so I’m helping myself in exchange for slices of my coffee cake.
I’ve an addiction to real maple syrup..It goes so well with breakfast menus and desserts. And No, I don’t want to get rid of this addiction.
To all, a day full of good things.
Here in the cafe it’s whatever you want. If we don’t have it, I’ll send George out to get it.
Good to know the Cafe is a 7 star place. Who’d have thought, a concierge too.
Is there a limit to what one may request? Topping my list is silver platter with an Impeachment Subpoena for a certain dude.
We’re limited to food and beverage, but what the heck.
I’ll send George out to see if he can get that started.
Family Man — congratulations on your first cafe!
Morning maryb. Thank you. Now if I can just get back and respell coffee right.
I thought it was intentional. Since I’m seldom here at this time of day I thought that’s how you early morning people referred to it.
Ya, Ya that it. It was intenttional. Just trying to see if you noticed.
oops, I almost forgot that ej asked me to congratulate you on your first cafe. But he’s really looking forward to your LATE night hosting. And since he asked me to do that for him I stole his credit card number and got you a gift appropriate to his sentiments:
I was going to have him send a hot tub full of beer — but I decided to use the excess on his credit limit to buy myself some shoes.
EVERYBODY remember to thank him š
While ej is paying and buying all for the cafe, except your shoes, he’ll always remembered. In the morning after the party, that might be a different thing.
I love what you’ve done with the place!
I was hoping someone would notice. How are you this morning?
A little sleepy (I accidentally ate something I’m allergic to yesterday, which kept me up half the night), but it’s a gorgeous day out, and it’s CBtY’s birthday!
Cake picture forthcoming…
I’ve never had food allergies, but I’ve seen their effects. I hope you’re feeling better this morning.
I wind up doubled over in agony for 4-6 hours, because I get an allergic esophagitis from it. It’s still painful today, but livable. No more honey mustard dressing on my Cosi sandwiches…
Was it something they put in the honey mustard, or are you allergic to all honey mustard? Food allergies have always scared me because when you go out, you never really know what’s in everything you eat.
They must have some oregano in their dressing, because that’s what I’m allergic to.
It has a bit of a breakfast theme, doesn’t it? (He picked the decorations, btw).
That kid is already a heartbreaker!
Wonderful picture CG. I would have never thought of the breakfast theme.
Me either. He wanted “gummies” to decorate the cake with, and he picked the gummy brains, eggs, and sour-patch style bacon strips to put on the cake.
With the brains and eggs, I kept thinking of the “This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs” tv commercials from a few years ago…
LOL that’s what I would have been thinking too.
that’s a great cake
and an adorable kid!
Thank you! :::beaming proudly:::
Two cuties!
How you can bear to have anyone eat that cake. Maybe you could laminate it. š
Hey, I’ve got the photo, what more do I need? š
The year we did a frog cake was pretty cool…did I mention he’s always been the tadpole catcher in our family?
Glad you’re feeling better. Happy Bday to your little one! What a cutie.
Thanks, Indy!
I’ll take the big country breakfast, Family Man.
The cafe looks great!
Moring SN. It’s comeing right up. How are you today?
Good morning Family Man. Is your friend still there or did he leave early?
Morning Andi. He left about an hour ago and the relatives are leaving in another two hours.
I can finally get back to lazy.
I forgot to mention, ya what misspelling?
This just in from George: And paying an appropriate level of attention to me!
When I walked into the house this morning I had to spend about 20 minutes with George in the chair. Anytime I’m gone for more than 2 hours he goes crazy when I get home.
So, how did your old friend look after 16 years? I hate seeing people that I haven’t seen for a long time. They always look so OLD, and it’s hard for me to pretend that I still look 19.
We both laughted about the weight we had put on, but he’s still the same otherwise. I’ve got a picture of us I’ll post a little later when I can get it downloaded.
wrestling with new technologies today. I bought the Multi-Pass from the Apple Store (mentioned in yesterday’s News Bucket) for the Daily Show and Colbert Report (and was so glad to have Jon Stewart to watch when I was flat on my stomach at the clinic last night!) — new episodes are supposed to download automatically, but I haven’t gotten last night’s show yet (and my account says it’s been downloaded). Have an anxious email in to Apple support; not sure if I should go ahead and DVR one of the repeats — Neil Young was scheduled to be on the show and the spouse is a major Neil Young fan so I was hoping we could watch together on the computer…
I love the new Multi-Pass option, but there are obviously a few bugs in the system (only to be expected; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a program that worked perfectly the first time around)…
Morning Cali. I was wanting to see Neil Young last night also, but turned the remote over to my friend who is a bigger channel surfer than I am.
This article on staph infections was in my local paper this morning and I thought of you. It’s really scary.
Cali, take care of yourself. Staph infections are dangerous. A couple of years ago the top elected official in my county died of a staph infection that wasn’t treated soon enough. Same thing recently happened to the announcer for the St. Louis Rams.
I’m glad you went to the ER.
Cali please do take care of yourself. I must have missed something being gone for the last few day, but Staph is something to be taken seriously.
Actually, now that it’s popped on its own I think it’ll clear up faster, and the pain’s pretty much gone bye-bye. Yes, I’m taking my antibiotics like a good spud (one reason I was up at 4 freakin’ AM — going to go nap soon), and will try to do better in the eating department to make sure I don’t get loopy like I did yesterday.
The doctor at the clinic last night said that it actually didn’t look too bad — she took a culture and had the nurse put the bandage on it. Spouse put fresh bandage on before he left for work — he’ll change it when he gets home about 2-ish, then again before we go to bed. Since I’m seeing my regular doctor tomorrow, I shouldn’t have to go back to the Urgent Care clinic unless something really goes wrong. (Palo Alto Medical Foundation rocks!)
Not the first staph infection I’ve been through — had a particularly nasty one in my left leg 14 years ago that left it slightly larger than my right; one reason I prefer pants to dresses. Seems like everything that goes wrong with me happens on the left side of the body… shrug
Okay, going to go lay down for a little while, then I’ll get up and at least get the sheets changed today…
we’re referring to a staph infection that found its way somehow into my left butt cheek — not only am I a pain in the ass, I had a pain in the ass! Definitely on the mend though… š
I don’t know what I’m thinking becasue I remember that.
You take care of yourself and get some rest.
My guess: the exercise bike in the community room. Yet another reason not to exercise. š
pick up a small can of Lysol to take over with me…
Download problem with Daily Show/Colbert Report solved, thanks to folks on Apple Discussions putting their heads together. Had to log out of the Music Store then log back in — I may have come up with a better solution though which I’ll try tomorrow.
In the meantime, now that I’ve got my Air America Mornings podcasts updated (loooove Rachel Maddow), I can go take my nap…
How about tea? Nice cafe Family Man!
(((Cali))) get better soon!
Back on the treadmill here.
Tea, we’ve got plenty of that. Morning. Do an extra mile for me today.
woke up a little while ago…still sick, but definitely on the mend. Coffee might do the trick.
Right on the way Booman. Hope you feel better soon.
thanks!
meanwhile I am slamming a pint of OJ. But WaWa’s oj kinda sucks.
I think Simply Orange is the best oj…now it’s hard to drink anything else.
Glad you’re starting to feel better.
You need my Grandmothers remedy. It had something to do with stills and copper tubing and she called it the “recipe”. I never got all the ingredients though. š
I swear to God this is true. In my old job, whenever I would come in after calling in sick, my boss would call me into his office and tell me, “Martin, the problem is you are not drinking enough. If you keep a constant high-level of alcohol in your blood system the bugs can’t survive and you won’t get sick.”
I never knew how to respond to the guy.
You should have told him your doctor is at the local bar and you’ll be back after your appointment.
To celebrate a fine Café and a wonderful host!
Aster — reminds me of confetti and streamers, taken 10.15.2005 (this one is best viewed large)
Gerbera daisy, taken 11.05.2005 (view large)
Chrysanthemum, taken 10.15.2005 (view large)
Thank you Olivia. Now the cafe feels complete.
Gorgeous flower pics. I love the gerbera daisy.
I wonder what DamnitJanet would make of this?
LOL Boo. Now I know what to do if I ever open a site. I wouldn’t be that handsome and buff though.
she’d say he didn’t play enough hockey
I can’t hear it due to speaker sitch here but OMG!!!!
What’s up with what’s he’s saying?
I can only imagine… ACK!!!
He’s singing part of Damit Janet from Rocky Horror. That really was a horror. š
Danni has school but not sure yet (ten mins to g) about Wesley’s school.
Have a doc’s appt for myself YAY!! !First time in over 4 years)
A visit with a friend whose son is also autistic but not sure if her son’s school is closed. So plans might change.
I’ll take some photos and return here later.
Have a great great day Boo-tiful People. So many great diaries… WOWZAHH~~
We’re expecting some strong weather later, but the power just went out for a little while. If I’m gone all of a sudden, that’s why.
Here’s a picture of my friend and I at the farm. Since Ductape wasn’t around to advise me, I had to go with the jeans.
Where’s Damnit Janet — here’s Family Man’s de butt and she’s missing it!
HI FM, good to see you hosting a cafe, I think you are a good one to do it as you spend lots of time here, might as well get paid eh…you are getting paid right…lol..
Shirl is still under the weather and I am hoping she will get back in shape soon for the big meetup, now only 3 weeks away.
Hi Diane. I dropped by at the village earlier and saw Shirl’s post Grrrr. I do hope she’s feeling better soon.
Nobody told me about pay. I thought it was all the free beer in the cafe, and now pay too.
Whoa – this is a great job.
Just noticing the lack of pay are you? Wait until its late tonight and you’ve thrown a party for everyone. THEN you’ll notice the lack of pay.
I was just happy with being paid in beer. By the end of tonights cafe I probably won’t care.
Like I said earlier we’ve got some bad weather coming our way, so first thunder I hear, I’ll be shutting down.
I’ll keep drinking beer so I won’t have to catch up with everybody though.
We’re paying you in love and appreciation and pretty pictures — as for coin of the realm, not a chance.
What more could anybody ask for. Oh yea, beer.
Drive by for a take out sandwich then back into the fray.
Kinda fonky here today

I’ll be back @ Beeer:30
Later
Peace
Thanks dada. @ beeer:30 just yell George and he’ll get ya what ya want. It’s getting fonky here too.
How did the dr apt go … you and Bu get weighed in okay? š
It was great, just a routine visit to get her Rabies,DisT and Parvo shots, and we’ve both gained a little weight…:{) She and I both generally do in the winter, don’t get out as much…it’ll go away pretty quickly come spring.
How are You?
Peace
I’ve got to go for a little bit, but I’ll be back in a minute.
Hey, all — just peepin’ in under the wire (as usual) to say hello. Thanks for a lovely cafe’, FM — you’re a great host!
Seems the weather’s rather bitchy here, too; after some sunny respite we’re back to the gloom. What do I care, though? As I write a flock of geese is passing overhead, returning for spring. I couldn’t hope for a more cheering sign of the certainty of change, the overarching balance that touches all things. There is no stasis; the unchanging is illusory.
Alas, I’ve gotta go do stuff. See you later!
Thanks WW. I do like to see the change of the seasons, but I can do without some of the bad weather sometimes.
Enjoy doing your stuff.
