Here in Philly, it is a summer day.

Here in N. Ca. we are freezing our asses off. Snow in the Bay Area, huge pileup, heaters cranked up everywhere. Between the weather and our “Keystone Kongress”. . . .
Your weather headed north for a bit!
but apparently it is raining with snow flurries at my hometown 100 miles north, which is where I’m headed now. Weird weather…
Make sure you check out Stu Piddy’s diary about the huge protest in Chicago yesterday against the House’s hateful immigration proposal.
Somebody stole California (or at least our weather) and sent it up north. It’s March and we are talking snow instead of swimming!
It’s sunny and warm here in MI as well. So, of course there are idiots running around in shorts! You know that the weather will change, and they will be sick as hell in a few days!
It’s the annual March tease–will lay odds we get a snowstorm in a couple weeks, if not sooner. You think that people who have lived here for all/most of their lives would know better by now!
Four robins in the backyard this afternoon – I think they’re a little ahead of the season even if it is 56° out there. My eldest lives in CA in the San Bernardino Mountains and she has 16″ of snow in her driveway with more on the way.
Seems like that happens every year–have been hearing the birds sing for a few days, usually when I have stayed up all nite–too coffeed up to sleep!
Do you kind of get a chuckle out of the fact that places where snow is unexpected will suddenly get a snowstorm and people who live out there freak out? (I do.)
But, I am actually looking forward to the warmer weather for a change…I’m a winter person. But, after the pneumonia, I have been really taking it easy. Heard from someone that it can take up to a year to recover completely. I believe it, as I felt like I was almost relapsing awhile back.
Pneumonia isn’t any fun. The eldest had it at age 4 and we almost lost her. She still has to be a bit careful when she has a cold. She learned to drive in Michigan so the winter weather out there doesn’t bother her as much as it does some. Her hubby grew up in CA and isn’t as used to it despite living in the mountains for 4 years now. Usually when we talk this time of year, I’m the one telling her about snow and she’s telling me about warm temperatures so this is backwards. I’m watching the Rim of the World site and messages about disabled cars, white-outs, and closed highways, so I’m glad that she & her family are all home and safe.
Tell me about it! I was so worn out, I couldn’t do anything. I remember how weak I would get just going to the grocery store–and I live in a 3rd floor apartment too. I practically lived on juice and very light meals that were easy to prepare. Seems like all I did was sleep, after doing what little running around that I could.
And glad that everyone in your family is safe.
You are smart to go slow on the recovery bit Street Kid. Be patient, and be well.
Took me awhile to learn that–I relapsed twice and do NOT want a third.
and waller like a Hilton twin. You have too many people to hit with the Medicare D(eath) clue stick to even think of having a relapse.
Once US has health care, you can relapse all you want to.
I’m feeling a lot better now, thanks. But, if I start feeling like a 3rd relapse is coming on, I’ll follow your advice. It is just that it is so frustrating to not be able to enjoy the winter! Like I said, I am really looking forward to summer, and that is really unusual for me.
I mean, I have stayed inside and have not gone cross country skiing or anything like I usually do. I know how sick I was and I don’t want to relapse again, even when we do get a single-payer system!
SoCal(San Diego) is frezzing rain, hail, windy and so not Socal weather. Ugh! Good day to clean house and read a good book I guess. Hope you all are enjoying your day no matter what the weather is like.
Northern Vermont and we’ve basked in the 60s, raking leaves doing outdoors stuff. We’ll take it. Snow showers forecast for mid week. This has been a wild winter.
It’s overcast and 85 degrees F here in Fort Worth at 3:30PM on March 11th. That’s warm.
Glad I am not using my (natural gas-powered)central heater, but I’ll bet I pay for it in July and August. In Summer 2004 we had over 30 days straight of 105 + degrees F days. Last year we had none. This Summer I am expecting something miserably hot.
Naturally the Gas company has jacked the price of natural gas up by about double since Katrina. And our electricity is priced based on the price of natural gas, even though a lot of when we get here comes from a nuclear plant.
Yeah, I feel ripped off. But this is Bush’s sixth year. What should I expect?
Oh, and my blue lilies have bloomed. Beautiful, but at least a month early. Hope they don’t freeze.
This is the wierdest weather I have seen as far back as I can remember, and I am age 63.
Its partly cloudy and 82 degrees in Cabo San Lucas today. A week from tomorrow, I’ll be sitting right there drinking my margharita and staring at the waves.
Two bluebirds have been scolding us from the window sill, and the female flew in and perched on a chair when the screen door was open. Apparently, they’re extra territorial during nesting season, and they think we’re in their territory!
Jonquils blooming, redbud budding, elms with tiny leaves. Yum. We skipped winter this year except for a two day snow. Of course, the ticks are having a good spring, too 😉
80 degrees here in St. Louis too. Tornado watch of course.
Unbelievable! Hell yeah, we’re going to the beach tomorrow! I am, of course, fully prepared for it to snow next weekend just like it did a couple of weekends ago. It’s like the days of the year are a deck of cards that the weather gods have shuffled out of order and are tossing out at random.
“Bush’s last, Best Hope: the Democrats” is an article by Dave Lindorff at Counterpunch – charges there’s a popular groundswell for impeachment but Democrats fear a backlash on the impeachment issue…that members of Congress like Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) have been strong armed by the DNC and Democratic Congressional Leadership not to introduce an impeachment bill.
Lindorff’s book “The Case for Impeachment: The Legal Argument for Removing George Bush from Office” is due out in April.
Wimps!
Go UCLA Bruins…beating Cal right now 23-14 in the first half.

Donald Rumsfeld makes $5m killing on bird flu drug
Is this a ‘caught in another lie’ event? Who said Don Rummy had divested all his shares in Gilead Sciences upon taking office? And why do we have to read it over there, instead of over here?
it’s freakin’ cold out here? Who switched the poles???
Have some photos of the snow on the Diablo Range, which I will post later in the Cafe…
