Well, we’all are doing fine, I suppose. Just a reminder before it gets lost in nowhere land, there will be a meet up in Memphis for the bootribs that want to come..date is Memphis in May. May 18-20 and feel free to stay longer and enjoy the state and it’s fun in Memphis. Other details will be forthcoming as soon as blueneck states his/her intentions. :o) This will be fun and will get to eat lots of great BBQ. Just be sure to make your reservations ASAP or you will be camping out at the grounds of the lonely….:o) Hugs. Looking forward to meeting ya’ll, come back now, ya hear….
Hey, My intentions are to be there. 🙂 I have a friend who has offered me a place to crash. I’m a bit concerned, though, as the second diary I posted drew so few responses… Please, if you feel so inclined, post another diary on the topic. It seems that you have made a lot of friends here lately, (:O)) so maybe it will get more attention than mine did!
Oh no! You have many friends here! I look forward to meeting you! Anyhow, I will do as you asked. You are my leader! Where do you want us to meet when we get to Memphis? I willnot get there till Friday night. I do have to work and will be off call come hell or high water for this one! hugs…
Well, my first thought was to meet at the Saucer or someplace like that, but I do believe that it will be too packed to move around in (or hear yourself shout, not to mention hearing each other) on a Friday night. Perhaps we could reserve a room at one of the other restaurants? Or maybe find someplace that is not smack dab in the middle of downtown that would be quieter and would give us a chance to talk amongst ourselves…
It is hard to know what to do without some firm indication of how many folks will actually show up, so I’m sort of at a loss as to exactly what our next step should be…what do you think?
Let me give this some thought. I will talk to my son and see if he has any ideas too. I will get back to ya in a few days. Just keep an eye out for me..:o) OK?
OK. However, maybe we can take this offline. I have coveted my anonymity online but since it is about to be lost in some measure anyway, I’ll send you an email with my contact info and maybe we can talk?
I’m going to try to come to Memphis, but various family difficulties may make it hard. I won’t be able to say for sure likely until mid April at the earliest.
Hi Kidspeak. That is good enough. We will look forward to your word if youare coming then or not. Sure hope you can, but can see your situation. Thanks…
Anyone who thinks they will be at Memphis meet up will, you please let me or blueneck know. We need a head count of those who think for sure they are attending. Thanks so much. hugs
Haaay!
This is my first look at and post here at the Booman Tribune. I was attracted by the dialog on current issues. I am posting first in the U.S. South “tag” (is that the correct terminology?) because I am definitely waaaay down here in the South. I was hoping to see some “Southerner Specific” dialog on current/political issues – am I not looking in the right place?
This is the place! We just got a new thread started in this “South” area, and it is mostly filled with info about the upcoming Meetup in Memphis, May 18-21.
Welcome aboard, please stop on over at the latest FroggyBottom Cafe/Lounge and say hello to the rest of the frogs in pond!
welcome. May I just address you as jay? :o) Yes do subject yourself to the cafe. We are a friendly bunch of frogs here and we do discuss many topics in the basic context of the site. Feel free to communicate with any of them. Again, WELCOME.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Ujjayi is a type of breathing in yoga practices. It is pronounced something like Oo-jiy-ee. I use it often to remind myself to breathe – something we do with less regularity than we think we do. You can call me whatever. When I am more comfortable on this forum, I will share more about myself….like a name.
Jackson isn’t that far. I am in Ocean Springs – right here along the Gulf Coast – “smack dab” in the middle of the Katrina mess, livin’ in half a house, which is still better than the FEMA trailer that never came. It’s a bizarre experience, (certainly one that has caused many to examine material accumulation, government dependence, etc.)but we move on…………
I will check out Froggy Bottom.
Oh, My Heavens, I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you. I know it has to be hard! Just take your time and get aquainted and I asm very sure you will do just fine. NO need to rush. Get your bearings and see what is going on and I am sure you will fit right in with the rest of us. Hugs and again welcome.
You are too sweet, but, hey, “I ain’t whinin'”. It’s just……different – a new normal.
I do plan to spend some time looking around here – looks like some interesting folks all over the country have important things to say.
One of the distractions we all “indulged” in the first weeks after (everything is BK or AK) was – where would we relocate to? Ha. I’m thinkin’ Saratoga Springs, NY – no severe winters, no volcanoes, no tornadoes, no hurricanes; maybe the rare blizzard — and there are actually 4 seasons instead of 2!
BTW – What does the [Parent] label mean?
Thanks again.
from what I can see it is just the comment from you and the origional comment you refer to. like if you click on it you will see my comment and yours only. I do not know the reason for it, but in the past if someone wants to pick up this particular comment and the reason for it that is why it is there. otherwise, I don’t know.
Hi, The Parent button is most useful when you are in the “recent comments” thread (available at the top, just to the right of your “username’s Page” button). Lots of times I’ll check in to the recent comments and wonder what the person is replying to, so I just click “Parent” and I find out!
I just moved last November from Hammond LA to Jackson MS because of a job transfer. I have many friends in the Gulfport area who were devastated by Katrina. Sorry for the destruction you suffered. A close friend who also lives in Ocean Springs lost his entire house and everything in it. I wish you well in your struggles to recover.
Thanks ManE hugs wished I could attend. I owld be there too, if I werent on call all the time. I would have been in Memphis today, too if I could for the peace march. I feel so constrained…:o(

sounds good to me….thanks
It’s more like “Hi’re ya’ll doin’?” where I come from… 🙂
I’m going to try to come to Memphis, but various family difficulties may make it hard. I won’t be able to say for sure likely until mid April at the earliest.

I’m in the same boat as Kidspeak due to some work scheduling issues. But I’ll know more in April.
Hope your schedule works out for you to come. Thanks…

Oh! LOL I get it. It speaks to my growing paranoia that I thought it refered to some kind of elected censoring. Ha!
I’m tellin’ ya – I have had more “lessons” served up to me this week. I need to start paying better attention.
