The Koufax Winners are now posted. We didn’t win anything. But Bood Abides brought home some hardware. Tragically, they neglected to mention that The Wizard of Oil was posted here. Congratulations to firedoglake for their award on the Plame coverage. And I am pleased that my vote was decisive in giving Tennessee Guerilla Women a share of Best State/Local Blog. Who says your vote doesn’t count.
And congratulations to John Amato for a richly deserved prize for his work at Crooks & Liars. He has been a big supporter of my efforts here.
Congrats to all the other winners too.

Hooray for Bood Abides!!!
But totally sucks RubDMC didn’t get anything for Best Series. Boo! Hiss!
What a crock – obviously we are the best blog community. 🙂 But with 90K members..feh.
As was forethreatened to me, a shadowy graphical nerd has had the kindness to bestow upon me a Koufax Loser Icon and place it upon my blog, where it is now available for the viewing and downloading pleasure of those who will scroll down and look on the right side, just under the Egee Board icon with the familiar Whispering Tapir.
I know that all my fellow Koufax Losers will wish to display this beautiful and prestigious icon on their blogs for the edification of their readers.
However, I must ask you to remember that only those who did not win a Koufax Award may legitimately and honestly display this fine icon.
If you are, like Bood Abides, a Koufax Award Winner, you are not authorized to sport this exceptional example of modern icnonography, and must content yourself with the congratulations and hearty applause that are your due and your plight.
It lends a certain air of mediocrity to your otherwise exceptional blog. 🙂
Wait just a cotton pickin’ minute there Ducky, there is a vast array of bloggers like myself who are ineligible for the Koufax Loser award, since they were never even nominated in the first place.
I suppose if I ever updated my own personal blog it might have a chance . . . sort of like the difference between buying and not buying a lottery ticket when it comes to winning the lottery.
In fact, those who were not nominated and therefore never in danger of being expelled from the ranks of Koufax Award Losers might be said to have even more right to adorn their blogs with the icon than those who were snatched back just in time from that slippery slope.
It is very simple. Either you are a Koufax Award Winner, or you are a Koufax Award Loser. Nomination is not, and in my opinion, should not, be held against you.
Hmmmm . . . maybe there should be a placard one can put on one’s website with the picture of Koufax and the headline:
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!!
that not being nominated is tanatamount to being the biggest loser of all.
i didn’t really frame that statement right, but you get the gist of what i’m saying…
by the way i’m definately downloading and using that logo!
Acephalous developed this great little substiture award graphic, and generously invites the finalists to help themselves to it. He assures us that no little leagers (sp?) were permanently injured in the preparation of this graphic.
Congratulations to G10, Dood, an’ da dKos communidy. I was also happy to see BagNewsNotes, Digby, and FDL snag theirs.
For the rest of us – wait til next year!
Well in my world… YOU WON AND WILL ALWAYS WIN FOR BEST SERIES! 😀
Thanks, DJ.
I like what the Wampum folks said at the start – it’s not about winning, it’s about being nominated and recognized.
shouldn’t the graphic read “2005 koufax award”?
i mean, it’s been over a year since i lost the 2004 koufax!
I’m sorry to hear Bootrib didn’t win anything. On the other hand I am very glad to see The Wizard Of Oil get the award it deserves. Dood Abides is one of the funniest guys in the blogosphere, and if Wizard of Oil hadn’t won I would have . . . well, I don’t think I would have done anything, except maybe pout. But it would have been a gross injustice.
And yeah, they should have mentioned that it was posted here too.
Ah crap! As someone said though it is hard to really get the “prize” when one blog has 80,000 users to go vote. I also wonder what the real definition of “community” is. I know I have experienced it here at Booman and in person WITH some of the Tribe.
In my heart Booman You are #1!
Better luck next year.
It all depends on your definition of “Best,” doesn’t it? Altho, being the biggest does grant the advantage of more voters. I’ve always preferred quality over quantity myself…
Obviously, what’s missing from those ‘lesser’ blog communities is pie.
WE don’t need no stinkin’ pie!
Eyeah, eyeah, eyeah, just like old times – in grammar school. I’ll wait for something approximating a real poll where everyone votes once. And noted above, where the emphasis is on signal, not noise.
