May the 4’s be with you
I was just going to post a new cafe, froggy, so it’s a good thing I didn’t. How are you doing today froggy, you’re looking mighty fine. I am babbling as requested…
Hi everyone, I’ve been waiting for new cafe, then I thought maybe I should post one, and then sure enough a new one appeared just then.
Still recovering from the weekend, I have a diary all written in my head about the meetup, just need to put it on computer and then edit a bunch of pics…total of 81 taken by me. See ya all later.
You are clearly a natural. 🙂
btw, love the stream and rock pix today! SO INVITING
I’m glad you liked it. Everything was just right to get the shot; I was very lucky.
You’re a pro! How are things going today?
Really it was luck (see additional explanation to WW downthread).
Today is a cranky day. Lots of turmoil, no resolutions.
Hope your day is going fine.
okay, okay — I read it.
I hope that you day gets better.
I win! And I wore you down so much, you didn’t even change the subject line. 😉
Last conference call of the day made things a little better but on the whole, a pretty cranky day.
The vicious-looking spider over at your place cheered me up some, though.
Well, just experienced an earth quake/tremor. My whole building shook as if hit by a wrecking ball. The blinds starting swinging and Smokie new before it happened as he crouched down right before. This is all new to me. My son, who lived through the Northridge one said probably about a 4. something. WOW!
ooh. I did not like the earthquakes when I lived in LA.
That’s interesting, didn’t feel anything here…hialoha, how ya doing, I was just thinking of you and your apartment and how beautiful it was…
Was going to write something about earthquakes, but thought I might scare you more so nothing but yes they are scary, and yes wow.
miss you.
I’m doing okay. I did however take a very long nap on Sunday after everyone left. I miss you too but we will see each other again soon, I am sure. My turn to come up there for a day. Can’t wait for your diary and more pics.
That’s the first time the earth has moved for me in a long time…lol.
As soon as I got to my place I got all weak, like all my energy drained and it took me a couple hours to get off my bed. It was so high energy all weekend and I saw how to do video on camera when I got home, just a dial setting, lol and I so wish I could have gotten your dance on that, but I do have a lot of stills.
We have been waiting for the rain all night and it’s still not here, but it’s getting dark and dreary right now so maybe,…it’s been lagging along and hovered for a long time over Santa Barbara area and the burn areas so they are expecting more slides.
LOL about the earth moved…..!!!!!
We are under flash flood warnings and a high surf advisory. Surf up to 10 feet today. it is also getting darker as we type. Lets not talk about the dance. I got a little carried away. Just being me I guess!
alohaleezy, that was everyone all jumping up and down and clapping that tom delay has resigned, that you felt…;o)! Glad you are all ok…hugs
Brenda…that was hysterical. Good line!!
Maybe we unsettled things with all the high energy of this weekend. LOL! I wouldn’t be surprised.
We get 3’s and 4’s rather often in the Idaho area, so I don’t notice them much any more. Just Mother Earth stetching a little.
Miss you Leezy. It was such great fun to be with you and the others. Really something of great value was shared among us.
Big Hugs
Shirl
Big hugs back to you Shirls. You are most certainly right about the high energy level. Plum wore me out. See you in the cosmos!
that it was an aftershock from the energy of the weekend. 🙂 Hope you and Smokie weathered the blast okay…
(Oh, and I just downloaded “your song” from iTunes Music Store last night… 🙂 )
Shaken but not stirred??
(((Leezy)))) I do not miss those tremors. We had them right under our neighborhood and could feel every one of em. But…not being a native of Cal, I felt earthworm yawning 🙂
I didn’t feel it!!
Maybe that’s because I am underground at the moment at my desk…weird. Too funny about your son – I can guess pretty well about earthquakes too. Lifelong SoCaler that I am :->
Hello all, I am very sleepy. < falls over >
< runs over and puts marshmallow foam in Boran2’s path so he doesn’t go PLONK >
The show was fun! Very laid back feel to it. Got off the air and my friend Mrs. Ski called me. One of the CodePink ladies drove me back to a transit center (the other one had picked me up at one instead of letting me take a cab) When I got to the TC, I was totally alone, no big deal… but the center is down some stairs and you’re basically in a cement hole. I couldn’t the ticket machine to read my debit card, train’s coming and I wasn’t sure about teh schedule. Just didn’t want to miss it so … I hopped on without a ticket. .. Now. I always buy tickets. But this ONE time.
I’m 3 stops shy of my stop. And the train stops. Several police jump on and grab this one black passenger. Lots of shoving and pushing but the guy wasn’t resisting. Then the line’s security gets on and starts asking people (WITNESSES) for their proof of ticket. ACK. It’s a huge fine. But… to get away from it all several of us just got off.
So many cops and security. It was surreal.
So… there goes my train. I’m stuck. My husband came and got me though.. but what a night.
I was listening to KBOO this morning and heard two incredible poems by Drew Dellinger. I’ll post them later. It’s nice to know there are people out there who also are awake and don’t like this fascist regime.
Anyways, just wanted to thank you guys for allowing me to be myself and support me as I grow. 🙂
(((Janet)))…sounds like quite the night. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Shaken but not stirred.
hieroglyphic stairway
it’s 3:23 in the morning
and I’m awake
because my great great grandchildren
won’t let me sleep
my great great grandchildren
ask me in dreams
what did you do while the planet was plundered?
what did you do when the earth was unraveling?
surely you did something
when the seasons started failing?
as the mammals, reptiles, birds were all dying?
did you fill the streets with protest
when democracy was stolen?
what did you do
once
you
knew?
http://www.audettesophia.com/drewspoem.html for the rest of it…
Thanks for posting that. I’m going to print it out and hang it on my cube-wall.
Olivia, I had to pull the car over when I heard him. He has other stuff that I couldn’t find yet. One line was that Bush hasn’t had a reflective thought since he put his nose to a mirror.
Unbelievable stuff 🙂
Hi everyone. The weather here in TN has gotten cooler from yesterday to today. Not much happening but the clean up and still finding the dead. Found one late yesterday or early today. It is really not good around here. Anyhow, I am so very glad to be among you all today! And that is the statement of the month so far….
The cats got me up early this morning. We all went to bed very early yesterday evening. It really took lots out of us all during Sundays affairs. They were fed and used the box and went back to sleep. I suppose that sounds like a good idea to me too. Have got lots of pc work to do for work, so cant stay tooooo long.
Hugs to all of you and just know I wish you lots of safety and love…..hugs
So glad you are okay Brenda. Honestly, I had no idea that the tornados were where you live. Stay safe and let us know if you need anything my friend.
((((Brenda))))) take care! Let us know if you need anything!
I’m back, and ready to hear comments about Robo-Rater™. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll have a fix or an answer. (In and among other work, of course.)
AndiF, I don’t think the fact that you are on Win2K should make a difference unless you are in a corporate environment where they’ve turned off Javascript or something. Did you try the sample code on the page above? What happened? Are you using Firefox or IE6, or something different?
We’ll get this thing working for everyone, one way or another.
Hey there Handsome Hardback! Got your email and thank you!!!! The show did run long. I think we were on till about 10:30 but they said the show is always archived. Mr. Damnit was able to download some amp thingy but still haven’t heard any of it.
Good sign was that they played at the start a song from Hedwig and the Angry Inch 🙂 I think it blew their minds I knew and LOVED Hedwig 🙂
Hey, DJ. Glad all went well last night & you made it home in safety.
Thank you for posting the incredible poem upthread.
Heh heh. Isn’t it a kick when you find someone who’s heard the same song you have? 🙂
I don’t have a link yet to the show (the parts of it I have anyway) but once I do I’ll post it here for the delighted perusal of all the Froggies. Even if it does cut short. You run until 10:30, huh? That’ll teach me to stick to the posted broadcast times. 🙂
OSX2.8 Safari 1.0.3…finally got it into toolbar/bookmarks, clik on it and it opens BT Homepage (Java works!)…try to cut and paste “FBC Diary” id in…clik again…get error msg.
Can you show me/us the modified code form based on yer mod FAQ?
No pressure, but, your canonization application is on my desk.
Peace
We Canonized him like a true sea lovin’ man would.
I’ll put something together that you can try later. The problem is, the actual bookmarklet is rather long. I can shorten it up a little when I have some time, but I didn’t have time to make it short, so I had to make it long. Does that make sense? 🙂
As long as you can get Javascript working, the bookmarklet should work. Should is the operative phrase — everybody seems to have their own interpretation of Javascript, some more compatible with whatever standard there is than others.
is probably the way we’ll get it working. 😉
I have javascript enabled and yes, the sample code worked fine. I work at home and I’m dial-up so no corporate network and no router issues. I’m running Firefox 1.5. I do have a personal firewall running but I just turned it off and tried the robo-rater. Still didn’t work.
That is very odd indeed, because Javascript is not supposed to be OS-dependent (at least between versions of Windows). If I can figure out how to do the compress-and-restore-comments thing, maybe we can try that.
Oh, and I tried the sample code I wrote in IE after I got to worked, and it ran just fine. Go figure.
i don’t want you to spend a lot of time on this but one thing we could try is to put in some debug statements that could come up in a message window so we could tell what is doing. I know the javascript works to some degree because 1) I get the ‘this will not work …’ message if the url isn’t right and 2) if the url is right, the page reloads.
Let me know where you would like messages and I’ll make a second version of the code that has the messages in it.
I was thinking of a message that would pop up right before it was going to change the ratings and a message that would occur right after it had finished and before the page is reloaded.
Did anybody try it with Firefox on a mac yet?
Nothing happened.
I was afraid of that.
Oh well.
which admittedly didn’t work for me (on a pc) but you might give it a try.
Link to olivia’s solution.
Hey there, all — glad to see you well & able to check in.
Lovely image above, Andi! I’m afraid we’re not seeing that kind of thaw here — there’s been no snow!
Winter’s definitely making a last stand this week, though. We got a bit of a dusting last night; today it’s quite windy & about 28 F. Heavy grey clouds struggle to part.
Back to layering for me!
The feline duo are inside today, poor things.
I’m afraid I’m a bit less than chatty at the moment — need to purchase a bit of the blessed bean.
It was down in the low 30s here yesterday but it is back up to the 50’s today so I hope the warmer weather is traveling your way.
As I said to Brenda above, that was a lucky shot — light was right, water level was perfect, and the water was very clear (which doesn’t happen much in spring).
Enjoy your cuppa and tell the cats they should pretend to be dogs and warm your toes.
Instead of calling it Global Warming it should have been called Severe Weather Pattern Changes or …
Severe Weather changes that will fuck you up.
Exactly! That’s really what it’s about, in terms of how we experience it.
As for ‘fucked up’, funny things are going on with our power as a result of terrific wind: we keep losing it. I continually have to re-boot here to ‘stay connected’. I’m about to chuck the computer out into the snowy mush — better shut down for a while & return later!
See y’all soon. Sorry, Andi.
Hi DJ.
Unfortunately, the list of things that will fuck us up is very large. On the bright side, we could always get hit by a meteor which would replace all those things that could fuck us up with just one.
((((Hola Andi))))
A meteor?? I’ll probably be hit while backing out of a grocery store parking lot and be rear ended by a Hostess Truck. The headlines will read, “Woman creamed by Twinkie truck” or something as less dignified but will surely cause a giggle or two. 🙂
situation was blizzard conditions so the husband is following his wife on the road from the farm to town, they end up having a collision.
Headline in the local paper reads, “Husband Rams Wife.” In this culture you’d never hear the end of that until you’re horizontal.
Well if we’re taking this on a personal level — that will settle everything that could fuck you up but it won’t do a thing for me. 😉
Like the headline, though.
Sorry that it’s a gloomy day up north. Here’s some cherry blossoms and a Carolina blue sky, which I’ve stupidly been calling an Ohio sky all these years. It’s a beautiful day here, sunny and in the 60’s – perfect.
Weeping cherry and sky ~ and bumble bee
They sure are pretty.
Wow! Gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing this image, o luscious one.
Hope to see more soon!
We have blue skies today and it’s in the 50’s so I’m only mildly jealous.
I don’t mean purple columbine sold as blue. I don’t mean blue girl roses which are a beautiful lavender.
I mean BLUE! There is a global and biological shortage of blue flowers that is shameful and unacceptable.
We cannot always be in the Himalayas where they do have blue poppies but people go mad trying to grow them anywhere else.
Yes there are hydrangeas, but there should be others.
My ideal flower would be blue, have large and plentiful blossoms, tend toward invasiveness, be willing to climb, thrive on neglect, be a perennial that roots in a week from cuttings with no hormone, roots in mud puddles, grows faster than kudzu and blooms from early spring till winter.
What is your ideal flower?
One that looks nice, smells nice and I can’t kill off.
My ideal flower must also have a fragrance so marked that it makes people stagger a bit when still twenty or thirty feet away from the garden, and when they reach the house, they ask if they can come in and lie down for a bit, and be fanned.
I ran into some “bud” like that several years ago in N CA.
What color the “flower” was when it bloomed I don’t recall.
Looks blue to me, but then sometimes my colors are off a tad…
more to look at here
I don’t think they sell bulbs anymore, however.
I love irises, I just wish they lasted longer, whether one leaves them in the garden or cuts them and brings them in, they are with us for too short a time.
I remember reading somewhere that there is some chemical, with a name similar to delphinium, which IS blue, but I have never had good luck with them for rsome reason, anyway, this particular chemical is essential to blueness, and Science is working on the problem, trying to get other flowers to have it.
The Japanese, it is said, have succeeded in making a blue rose, but I have not seen this, and the blue curcumas from Thailand are quite lavender.
My lobelia photographs kind of purple but it’s really a midnight blue. Tiny blossoms though.
Lobelia
but you beat me to it, SN! Are you talking the African blue kind? (Annual, prostrate creeping variety). There’s also the giant blue (perennial), which is native to our region, but not quite as deep a blue as the African variety.
DTF, check out delphinium chinensis “Blue Butterfly.” It’s pretty easy to find these days in garden stores, even places like Lowe’s. It was very expensive and rather rare when first introduced several years ago, but it’s come way down in price and is easier to find. I have several long term stands of it in my garden and it’s about as close as you can get to a nice deep blue, with copious flowers on 24″ stalks, it’s perennial in most places, tolerates more heat and drought than regular delphiniums (the taller varieties). Some of the delphinium elatum varieties, such as “Magic Fountains” have some wonderful deep blues, with striking pure white “bees” in the centers… I have several of those as well, and love them. Well, in fact, I’m a bit of a delphinium fiend… We also go for the blue flowers and express the same disappointment you did. They are out there! Not sure if you were talking about the “Alpine Blue” columbine, but we have those, and think they’re damn close to true blue. I’d post some pictures of those, but I’m at work and haven’t uploaded a lot of my pics to PB yet… but you can see a page of the delphiniums on my garden website… just go to my user info and you can find the address there.
Hope that gives you some direction at least… now I gotta get back to work!
I’ll try to find time tonight to post a few pics for you in the Lounge thread, if I don’t manage to tonight, bug me again and I’ll get it done.
I love delphiniums, but the few times I have tried to grow them, I had no luck at all, they languished, they sighed, and softly honking geese overhead heralded the passing of their spirits.
I haven’t had much luck with hollyhocks either, though they aren’t blue, they are such big rollicking in your face flowers that I admire them.
You’re not asking tooo much there are you DTF? LOL. See my post downthread in response to SN’s picture of lobelia… and feel free to pester me anytime for gardening tips, ideas or knowledge. I love consulting with people on that kind of stuff.
Here’s the link, once again
I changed the bookmarklet to generate the rating code “on the fly” instead of having one big long URL. This way I can paste down the underlying code so you can try it from an address bar.
The page is updated, have a go at it and let me know how it works.
I can’t figure it out
due to my lacking not yours
so I’m giving you five pooties
instead of automated fours
yes, there are five in there.
Awwww, they’re so cute. And I don’t even sneeze when I get near them (unlike some other cats).
Does this mean I’m your designated pootie petter, too? 🙂
Sounds like you’ve found your calling.
Do what you do best, that’s what I say.
Andi,
Danni’s comment regarding your Babble On photo.
She said that while standing far away it looks like there are thousands of “fishies”. Also she said that “babble on” reminds her of the song title, “Babylon” by Himmelman
😀
I done did tole her to shut her maw and git back to rustling me up some dinner. To hell wit her homewurk.
I can see you’re in fine form today, DJ! As usual… thanks for cracking me up so much lately. One of these nights I’ll come up with something to get you to snort beer through your nose… I’m working on it… hehehe.
But… but… I don’t drink beer. Wah… But I do cook with it sometimes.
I’ll keep my Snortage Scale slickered up for ya 🙂
All I have to do is to look through the wrong part of my bifocals and I can see the fishies too. Don’t know the song but I’d say she’s right on the mark (though ‘Babble On’ is what I consider my normal conversational mode).
Chalk another one up for that lil cutie with the pootie and the poochie. And stop picking on her.
Peter Himmelman, this does him no justice…., but he’s Bob Dylan’s son-in-law. Kids and I love him. Both kids have had songs made about them on the spot at a few SF shows. Wesley even has been onstage with him.
okey doke. and did you stop picking on Danni.
Aw do I have to?? 🙂
She can dish it out. Whooo boy can she ever. I have NO idea where she gets it from either.
I’m leaving work in 5 minutes and I’m ready to party! Where are all the carousers? Or were we all up too late last night and still paying for it? (hehe, ejmw, cake??)
Hope to see you guys later in the lounge, and I’ll upload some blue flower pics for you and DTF. If they don’t appear tonight, then look for them tomorrow. I do have housework that needs to get done tonight, but with the sunshine outside today, I may still have time to snap some more fresh pics of the currently blooming bulbs! (that’s what those crocus were last night…)
I guess it is if somebody goes and opens up the lounge. It’ll be there by the time you get home (unless you work from home like I do).
