I don’t think I am feeling very chatty but someone is bound to show up who is.
Too early for chatty – still dark out.
Good morning, Andi.
The only person who is usually able to be chatty at this hour is refinish.
But Booman said we got 30 new users yesterday so there might be another very early morning person among them.
Yes, I realized that last night and went over to check Booman’s entry. Saw some familiar handles in Fairly Obvious’ diary here.
LOL I am always chatty. I even talk in my sleep.
the poor Diva Dogs up with all that talk. 🙂
Reba talks back to me. LOL
Good morning all!!!! I am so excited!!!!! Tom Delay is resigning!!!!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad this asshole is resigning. I guess he knows he is going to lose and will be brought up on new charges!!!! I hope he has a long and happy time in prison and meets Bubba!!!!
Republican Soap on a Rope
I expect that all the liberals in Texas will be throwing one huge party.
oh hell yes!!!!!! I just recorded a quick podcast.
Delay Resigns!!!!
Good morning everyone.
Good morning, FM. Yard work today?
Morning CG. No I’ve got a doctors appointment today.
How are you today?
to that appointment. Seems unfair to have to work so hard to get to something you’d probably rather not do.
Morning Andi.
Yes it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive, but I get to go to Birmingham, the big city. Yee Haw. I hope I don’t get lost again.
Wow, is that 2 1/2 hours one way or round trip?
One way. Out here in the country driving an hour or two to go to the city is almost normal.
My sister stays in the road constantly. She will drive to work which is about 45 minutes away and turn around and drive to pick up her Granddaughter which is about two hours from her work in the opposite direction, keep her for three or four hour and then drive her home and come back home.
She doesn’t do it all the time, but I don’t see how she does that.
I know. Just driving the 30-40 minutes to Meridian is a long drive to me, but there are people around here that drive 1-2 hours, one-way, to work everyday.
I think your work to drive ratio is much better Andi. 🙂
Good, but still sleepy from the time change. It’s hard to adjust to the spring one.
Yes fall is so much easier. I think for us early risers it’s not that bad. I feel sorry for the late nighters though.
I’m an early riser, but the time change turns me into a late nighter…late for me anyway. 🙂
The other night it did with me, but I got back into my routine last night.
With me it’s almost like I’m an hourglass. I’m full of energy and thoughts in the morning, but by night, I’m almost empty.
Hi CG. Paper done?
On to the next one…but today I’m off to Harrisburg for some Women’s Law Project thing with some of the folks from my PP public impact committee…which means I have to leave the house before 9 AM…horrors.
How about you?
That sounds like an interesting day — much better reason for a drive than FM’s.
I’m not leaving the house, except to take a walk in the woods with dogs. 😉
Is this your last semester?
Last one with real classes…just have to do clinical rotations after this.
After everything is all and done, will you be teaching?
You know, I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I originally started it for (A) something to do, and (B) to ensure my continued freelance medical writing/medical direction business. Which I’m happy to keep doing.
Just as long as you’re doing what makes you happy.
So many people have jobs they hate. I’m always happy to hear of people who love what they’re doing.
I’d be happy to retire but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get to do that for awhile.
Trust me retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Many days I’ve wished I had to get up in the morning to trudge off to work.
Sleeping as long as you want and taking numerous naps is such a burden sometimes. 😉
I feel that you are being less than sincere.
Who me?
I’m ashamed. I feel like such a slug.
Morning SN. No need to feel that way.
Other than sluggishness, how are you feeling today?
I’m feeling like I ran a marathon. Mr. Nature snored all night long and I got next to no sleep.
Why is it women will never admit to snoring?
I wake myself up when I start to snore. And it’s only when I have a cold. But this guy shakes the house when he snores – you can hear him downstairs in the kitchen, which makes for some funny late night snacks with the boys and me.
Just get one of those pocket tape recorders and record Mr. Nature. I found this most useful in the payback format, or the ‘you just don’t know how hard my life is’ format.
I wasn’t aware they had those functions, but I’ll be using them frequently. Thanks FM.
Is your appointment just a check-up?
Yes it’s a check up with the Neurologist for the migraines.
I’ve got my list of questions I’ll ask him and remedies everyone have suggested to me. He’s pretty progressive, so I’ll see what he says.
I’ll probably end up coming home with prescriptions for new medicines and we’ll see how that works.
Just a thought: ask him how smoking affects migraines. 🙂
Already have. He said smoking is bad for migraines as it is for everything else.
But since I live in the country and have clean fresh air it’s no worse than living in the city. Hah.
Well he actually didn’t say the thing about the city, but I thought I would throw that in. Hah again.
that they have some treatments that are big improvements. I hope that turns out to be very true for you.
You’re so kind and supportive of him and all I do is nag him about smoking. I think that’s why you’re still married and I’m on number 2.
Unfortunately a lot of new treatments I can’t use because of my bypass. The medicines work on the blood vessels.
So it will probably be a new anti-convulsive medicine today.
the joys of slug sex?
Wow you have a good memory.
I have a great skill in remembering useless information. Important stuff, whole ‘nother thing.
I had forgotten about slug sex but now that I’ve improved my macro skills, maybe I’ll capture the joy for you.
Morning FamilyMan!!!!!
Morning Refinish. How are you today?
I see you’ve already go a podcast on DeLay. Good for you.
I am doing a Liberal happy Dance!!!!!! I have to go get ready for work. I hope everyone has a great day!!!! I will check in again in the am as I have a political meeting tonight and will not be home till after 10 pm.
Have a good day at work and don’t explode from excitement about Delay.
Everytime I hear them mention it on the morning news again, I can’t help but smile!
Literally. We have to keep them at 95 degrees. Here they all are: a binful of fuzzy critters…
More individual shots later…
Awww…they’re so cute! And so many!
I’m trying to pick out the “mystery chick” they sent you.
Here he is, posing for his close-up:
Notice his fuzzy legs. He’s going to be one of those chickens that looks like he’s wearing feathered bell-bottoms. Maybe a Buff Brahma. Anyone wanna play “Name That Breed”?
Buff brahma or a cochin with those feet. I’m voting for a buff, since they have the coolest chicken personalities…
He’s cute! Are you going to go into the egg business?
I may have no choice. The way I figure it I’m likely to end up with a dozen eggs every other day. That’s lotsa omelets! Marketing will be a bit difficult because I don’t expect to be able to put together uniform sizes. But, I’ve already thought of a slogan: Our eggs come in different colors and sizes like our chickens. I’m going to start out just giving them away to our neighbors while saying I’ll charge a dollar a dozen if they want them.
You need to add in about how fresh they are and only the best, freshest and most pure of foods is ever feed to your most cute of chickens.
Hey that’s an idea too. These eggs comes from the cutest of chickens.
some of them to die. His experience down on the farm was that all chicks don’t survive. And in the rough and tumble of a farm yard, I expect he’s right. Last night he was already declaring one of them sickly and predicting its demise.
But, in a heated bin with vitamin-laced water, organic chick feed and me hovering over them… Well, the so-called sickly one seems to be doing fine this morning.
They are so sweet! Can you tell us the difference btwn the light brown and the darker/gray ones?
plus the Odd Chick. The gray ones are Silver Laced Wyandottes, of that I’m certain. The darker brown ones are Partridge Rocks, I think, and the lighter browns are the blue-green egg-laying Araucanas. I need to count them to be sure which is which but I can’t do that until I’m transferring them from one bin to the other at fresh bedding time. Right now, they hop around too much for me to keep an accurate count.
I’ve actually heard of Silver Laced Wyandottes before. They all look so wonderful. Thanks for sharing this with us sjct, and by that I mean the whole process right from when you moved etc. 🙂
They are so cute.
Have you named each and everyone of them yet?
I think we should ask maryb if she’d like to name them.
She’d name them: Broiled, Fried, Breaded, Baked, Stewed…
Poor Maryb. Chickens and squirrels.
you name them all DINNER!!!! LOL
I’m calling the “Exotic” chick Odd Man but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. The rest of the breeds just mill around too much for me to see any distinctions worth naming. The Wyandottes especially look almost identical. I need to order some leg cuffs and give them numbers. I’m a bit hesitant to give them names because eventually some of them are going to end up in a stew pot. You know, “What’s for dinner tonight, honey?” “We’re having Prissy with dumplings, dear.”
Good point with the naming.
“What’s for dinner tonight, honey?” “We’re having Prissy with dumplings, dear.”
Somehow I can see Maryb saying that with a little grin on her face.
It’s snowing this morning! Thick white stuff that is clinging to everything. All the little birdies are still hopping around the backyard and they looks so pathetic w/ all the white stuff blowing on them.
I hate that cruel whammo snow that hits after you think winter is over. It’s so spirit-crushing.
At least you know it’s not going to hang around very long.
It worked. I was fiddling w/ it last night and came up with process that seems to work and it worked again this morning. <giddy laugh>
Especially b/c it was so sunny on the w/e, but we should know better — it’s the way of spring. 🙂
Pretty soon you’ll have broadband too and you’ll come here and brag about how fast everything is. 🙁
The snow didn’t hurt the crocus, did it?
Where I figured out a sorta system. maryb got it to work for her. Try it and see.
Here’s the comment: link
Re: the crocus, not yet. They’re out there braving the weather along w/ the birdies. They are covered though.
out at it when it didn’t work. But thanks for the link anyway.
Is it going to warm up enough so the snow won’t stick around for long?
I just tried this method and got it to work. Then again, I was using the way Omir said to this morning and that worked up until a little while ago.
It’s going back up to 8C and sunny. And it will stay up for the rest of the week and into w/e according to the weather forecast this morning.
That’s too bad about the rater. If anyone could get it to work, I would have bet on you b/c your such a smart cookie w/ this stuff. Hmmm. We’ll have to quiz Omir.
I’m running off to work now. I’ll check in later this morning. Hope to see you around! {{{Andi}}}
Morning Olivia. You have snow! Oh how lucky some people are.
Snow is good yes, but so is spring, and I want spring now. Not snow. 🙂 Is is very warm there today? Oh, and good luck at your apt.
Forcast says only 74F today. The biggest thing I don’t like about spring is the pine tree pollen dust part. Everything around here will turn yellow soon because of it. I’m one of the lucky ones and don’t have allergies to it.
The appointment will be another ‘let’s try this and we’ll see how it goes’ appointment. There’s always hope I’ll hit the jackpot. Thanks.
Good luck with your appt., Family Man. It’s great that you have a list of questions because it would stink to drive 2.5 hours and have him rush you out of there without getting some good info in return.
If anyone sees FamilyMan, could you ask him to stop by Eat4Today?
I left a comment I’d like him to see before he leaves for his errands.
Thanks!
I saw it KB, left a comment and thanks.
I just gave myself the guilty pleasure of Omir’s Robo-Rater again.
Between that and Olivia’s sensual pictures, I don’t know if the old mind and body can take it. Oooooooooooh!
The first wave is up and I’ve got to get breakfast ready.
I’ll check in with ya’ll later.
The disadvantage of being a left coaster strikes again.
Yesterday I posted a link to the page that contains the information and instructions for Robo-Rater™ and I noticed several people were testing it out with some of the results I expected — most notably the refresh problem. Someone — Olivia perhaps? — found a way around the refresh problem, and if I can find that post I will see if there’s a way to implement the fix in the limited amount of space I have for Robo-Rater code.
Oh, and I saw some things that need to be added to the page. Specifically, a warning that if you just recommended a diary, you have to reload it to get the story ID to show (the string of numbers that looks like 2006/4/4/5328/44572) in the address bar. Otherwise you get the message that says “You must be in a Booman Tribune diary to mass rate” or whatever I put in there. (The reason is that the story ID is an essential part of the mass rating code and that’s the best — in fact the only — way I know of to get it.)
Have a good morning, see you all later!
I need to go get ready for work, but after I get in, get settled and do some actual work I’ll check into the cafe to see how things are going and maybe make some changes in real time.
Here’s the process I used to get it to work consistently: link.
Thanks for the link. I will see if I can automate that process using Javascript. It should be possible, but might take a while.
Hi-ho, I owe, so it’s off to work I go . . .
There are some additional comments about known bugs and a FAQ that will let you test whether you can use Robo-Rater on your system.
And with that, I’ll be gone for a few hours. Share and enjoy!
I could not get it to work. One thing that seems to be different in my case from everybody else for whom it is working is that I’m running win2k.
and not too chipper — spouse was on the computer till 4:30am. That and the rain will definitely cut into our productive mode today; I have to get over to Fry’s and get an external hard drive to back up the desktop system — got too much good stuff on there to lose.
Definitely not too happy a camper today…hopefully things will improve. If Omir is listening, he can have his weather back — we’re getting tired of being Seattle South down here…
Rainy days make me want to clean up the house and make something nice for dinner. Either that or take a nap.
I see a new cafe is needed so I will post one, right now.
Great minds and all that. I was just a little ahead of you. The new cafe is available. I’ll post a link below.
New cafe here.
