May the 4’s be with you
Come on in, set your feet up, and enjoy the company.
uh oh. The evil frog is behind the bar tonight.
Mary could you do me a favor. I can’t get it to link in the old diary. Could you do that for me.
Thanks.
to start kickin’ R a$$ and takin’ names…
Wuzup?
Peace
Wusup dada. Been busy today?
after a series of unpleasant, but productive conf. calls…beats getting on an airplane.
Thank DOG for speaker phones…it’s a good thing they/I didn’t have video…it’d been ugly.
Peace
Well if you’re working on slackertude, you’re in the right place.
I’m a class ahead of Maryb…when I’m gone…I’m Gone…
it ain’t my problem till I get back…:{)
Peace
ah to be you …
to be irreplaceable…I no longer am burdened by that particular misnomer…true slackerdom requires a great deal of meditation…or is it medication…I’m confused …:{)
Peace
I know that I am replaceable and would probably be likely to be replaced one way or the other if I don’t at least LOOK like I’m making myself available to my clients.
That’s why I come up with a way to LOOK available without really BEING available. If that requires a few phone calls at times when no one else is available … so be it.
I get a kick out of Mr. Natural. So to speak.
Ham radio operators often exchange cards with each other to verify that they made a two-way contact. It’s not required, but it’s considered a nice courtesy. The last time I had some printed, I put a picture of Mr. Natural on mine with the caption “The station operator (taken from a recent photo)”.
I think in all the time I was using those cards I only had one person notice who the “station operator” actually was.
up before olivia overwhelms us with her flowers. Creek is still providing all the color.

Beautiful picture Andi.
though I’m hoping to be able to move on to non-water based pictures any day now (please sir, I’d like some green).
I hear you loud & clear on that one, my dear.
I love the image above — so much texture, beautiful color! Makes me cheerful — especially knowing what it portends (which is green).
to be ready for spring and will count just about anything as a portent.
The big portent for me is that the spring peppers are in full voice.
Those must be mighty hot peppers, Andi!
Sorry — the joke’s not at your expense; I read your post twice before I realized there was a typo. Singing peppers seems perfectly reasonable.
Am I ready for spring? Yes, I am.
Our bullfrogs are quite again, after a few days of merry croaking. Once we see 60 again they’ll be back. The peepers come a bit later in the season.
The bullfrogs are quiet.
Our bullfrogs are quite again
Typo turn about is fair play. 🙂
Dontcha just hate typos that are real words so that spellcheckers don’t help.
What’s a spellchecker? Oh .. now I see it.
nice to see you got that “larger” function going on that one especially.
Thanks. And when are we going to see some macro fossil shots?
of here, my city location. Telephoto no reachy that far!
My first outdoor macro shot from yesterday, I was expecting to post in the next FBC, but then traffic here seems to be moving at a snail’s pace.
Yeah, we’re missing a lot of folks tonight. You could always go ahead and post it this one and in the next one. Nothing wrong with repeating an image.
…is a good thing. Although, just posting would work for me … (hint hint NDD).
were’re almost to the tipping point.
so wait a few minutes and you can post the pic in there.
the new lounge is open.
tap..tap…tap….tap…..tap……is this thing on?
Peace
I love the speckling effect on the rocks! Echoing NDD, definitely appreciate the larger version.
It’s been fun taking these creeks shots. Having the water be so clear is really unusual. I think it’s because of the very wet last few months we’ve had — the water is running off right away so it isn’t carrying much sediment with it.
I think I want whatever the frog is having.
A fly a la mode is coming up.
“Waiter, there’s a fly in my soup!”
“The chef used to be a tailor.”
Only one fly..waiter please take this back to the chef..he said this was 10 fly soup.
“Waiter, why is there a cockroach in my soup??”
“It’s the fly’s day off.”
that I’ve been through with work for well over an hour while you’ve still got at least hour and half to go.
Actually about two hours and 14 minutes now, but who’s counting?
Two hours and 13 minutes . . .
Two hours and 12 minutes . . .
Omir is the robo-rater working?
Depends on who you ask. It’s working for me.
Olivia came up with a new dodge this morning: If you have more than one tab open in Firefox, open a new window that only has the cafe page open in it (i.e. no other tabs in that window). Then try using the Robo-rater from there. She says it works much better for her from a window with only one tab open.
I’m trying to figure out why refreshing the page so you can see the new ratings should be so problematic, but so far no luck yet.
as long as I cycle through home and come back again.
w/ the robo-rater, so it’s still working for me. 😐
It stopped working for me this afternoon. 🙁
But you’re still a genius. 🙂
Are you eating soup, tucked up in bed?
That makes me wonder if the robo-rater is affected by the cache, like it stops functioning after so many clicks, gets confused somehow?
I’m cuddled up on the couch w/ my fuzzy pink blanket, watching the Sens vs Habs, drinking gingerale, and playing on the internet. Plus I took some photos earlier, so that makes me feel good. I’m going to post a couple down below.
Jim suggested the same thing. It seems unlikely to me but I guess I’ll go ahead and clear the cache and see if it makes any difference.
It just doesn’t like me. Ah well, now I can go back to using tabs.
of the trial and error list. 🙂
Did you get Puget4’s email the other day?!
I’ve been, I’ve seen, I’ve commented.
And I’ve really, really enjoyed them.
Still in a puppy kind of mood today. Finally figured out what that meant – unconditional love no matter what is going on! So I’m overloading on puppies today and avoiding the nastier side of life.
Look out mythmother…I’ll probably be back on pooties tomorrow! 3 or 3 on puppies today may do even me in with cuteness! Time to get back to the attitude stuff tomorrow!
You should have met my dog BJ — named for Billie Jean King and Barbara Jordan because she didn’t take any shit from anybody and was very eloquent in letting you know.
I’m ducking for cover! (No excuse for that kittie with the moving eyes! Sheesh!)
This link to an article in the Guardian was in one of the open thread summaries at the Orange Place this afternoon.
Interviews of 500 men revealed that Albert Camus’s The Outsider was most often named as the novel that changed their lives.
A year ago a similar study of women found that Pride and Prejudice was favored by women.
Hmmm.
Well, I know that my wife likes Jane Austen, but I’ve never read The Outsider (or Jane Austen for that matter).
I remember hearing somewhere that when blinded soldiers were in hospital during World War I, nurses would read Jane Austen to them. It apparently worked as a sort of anchor to bring them back to the England they remembered before the war.
Is ‘The Outsider’ also known as ‘The Stranger’?
Quite a strange book to invite into your deepest psyche.
Hey there, everyone. Still slackin’, haven’t done diddley in terms of chores. Thank Gaia for these long, wonderful days!
Received an email from one of my ol’ man’s lifetime lovers, asking a myriad of questions concerning the last eleven years of his life.
These are not ‘yes or no’ questions.
No wonder I’m still here ..
I believe it’s the difference between translating French into English or American.
But then, I’m not the Camus fan on this site.
My araucana chickens (aka Easter egg chickens) finally started laying eggs today…so now I have blue-green eggs!
would like to know, is this required for your happy dance? 🙂
Well, maybe if it were purple.
I’m glad for you, CG!
I wish your chickens continued good health.
Thank you!
oh me too. What a happy dance I’m doing for you right now!
And how much happier would be if CG were figuring out how many 3-egg omelets she’d be able to make.
Omelets for everyone Saturday morning!
You got it! With 7-8 eggs a day, we’re going to be eating egg salad for the next month too! 🙂
I’ll come back in a little while and drop some 4’s.
Love it, Sallycat! LOL!
‘I swear — I never even met Jack Abramoff!’
<looking around the cafe for Omir>
Okay, coast is clear for some pink flowers… 🙂
Variegated pink mum, taken 2006-04-05 (marginally larger version)
Lavender mum, taken 2006-04-05 (view slightly larger)
probably because the gradual fade of the color is more distinct.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Your flowers keep reminding me of one of my favorite pics…went and found it:

Cuba: Woman w / flower in her hair and a cigar
Love the colors and the “look”…Enjoy…be well
Peace
Tulagi’s?
Thanks! Love the colours, and yes — the look!
Did you take this photo?
wish I had…don’t cha know it’s illegal for us ‘merakin’s’ to go to Q-ba…HS folks’ll molest our children and confiscate our passports, and then send us back there…
Peace
I didn’t even think of that. Some friends of mine just came back from Cuba. Interesting tales from that. But, seems a little crazy all in all, that your government won’t allow you to go to another country.
friends have been there, great beaches, good food, friendly people, killer cigars and a fantastic number of old cars…I kinda dig cars, BTW
[
’49 chevy
We’ll see…
Peace
Will they allow you into the Cuba if you come via another country. You still have to show your pp right?
What kind of car(s) do you dig — any in particular?
yes you do have to show your PP…the trick is to try and not get it stamp’d…i didn’t say that.
Cars: I appreciate all kinds, from various perspectives, most fond of fast ones…my current lustful goal is a 350Z roadster.
Peace
I like it.
Gorgeous, Olivia. Just stunning. Thank you!
How are you doing tonight?
Just fine, thank you — even better after seeing your lovely flowers, o purveyor.
I understand you’re feeling a bit under the weather. ‘Tis the season, apparently. Be kind to yourself — or have someone else do it for you.
😉
are a healing balm ww 😉
I’ll be okay, I’m just feverish ache-y in that way that sometimes feels good (is that weird — anyone else feel that way?), and other times feels sooo bad. And my neck aches, and my cheeks feel like they’re on fire and they’re very pink.
It’s great that I can still hang out w/ you guys and not worry about giving it to you! 🙂
I’m glad you can, too — considering that I just got over something like this not long ago. I’ve just got a headcold now — not so bad.
Once in a while the body says ‘Slow down!’ pretty clearly.I guess it’s your turn now. Keep your fluids up & stay comfy. Do not step in any snow patches in your socks like yours truly.
LOL. That’s not good ww. You take care of yourself too. :*
Thank you, dear. I do my best, space cadet that I am.
Kisses to you as well — & to all your flowers.
Where’s Family Man? Bartender!!
When you write your travelogue I want copy #3, assuming you two get 1 & 2.
I really don’t expect myself to have been to all these places, but you keep coming up with ones I’ve never even heard of.
Spider Woman Rock in Canyon De Chelly
Others have mentioned this before, but seriously, I really do think you guys ought to write your lifetime travels, with photos, then update yearly.
If you don’t want to do it via hardcopy then just post it on a website where we can get at it.
Every time I discover a new place through one of your photos I just want to pack the bags and head out the door. Only this log chain between the ankle cuff and the ring welded to the rebar in the concrete is holding me back now.
Sounds like a great project for retirement — if only I could get Jim to think about retiring sometime before we are senile.
I don’t know if you’ve seen the photo albums for three of our trips (I’ve linked to them before) but if you haven’t here are the links.
Yosemite
Lassen and Redwoods
Banff, Kootenay, and Yoho National Parks in Canada
I think I had seen some of those, but now I’m opening up a file for those links and any others you come up with in the future.
It would just be such great fun to hear/read your comments on places, how to get there, what you liked, what to skip, interesting spots one might miss otherwise, encounters with people, wildlife…
and want some help doing some planning, we’d love to offer up our experiences.
The guy with the cutting torch due is due to arrive late Dec ’06. That’s when Ms NDD should be done with the online classes, assuming course availability this fall.
So barring BF Pandemic, civil unrest, or Armageddon…
Busy day today…busier day this evening.
Still working through the photo backlog, but had to post this one for Maryb:
I call it “Zookeeper Under Glass” — just in case you need a break from delivery guys… 😉
Enjoy the evening… 🙂
Looks to me like ‘Indiana Jones and the Fishtank of Doom’ ..
Hi Guys!
How are you doing tonight?
Hey there, mythmother! How are you?
So if I’ve got it right, 6 more working days and it’s Escape Day!
We have to have an Escape Day party. 🙂
I think we should throw a huge party for mythmother’s emancipation!
Come on over here so we can get NDD to post his picture.
Thanks for the new lounge, the suspense was killing me!
