Let’s Spend the Night at the Beach
This is an Unhosted Cafe.
The bar is fully stocked, but it is self-serve tonight.
Sleeping on the beach, listening to the waves.

May the 4’s wash over you
this one’s a little bit closer. Plus, you can see the cedars behind it.
Yup, better but I think you need to try out that zoom. π
And then you could use the picture for your cafe.
I just noticed on Jim’s sig line the holiday pictures. They are very cool Jim & Andi.
those are amazing!! I really think they should do a book.
We had a lot of fun getting to take those pictures.
Did you get a second wind?
I bet ya’ll did have fun.
No it’s just to hot to try and sleep now. I’m more then ready to go to bed, but it has to cool off a little.
lol — okay! I’ll try it!! I just now figured out how to get the pictures down to a manageable size. I’m not sure how quick the zoom thing is gonna be.
Does it come w/ a closeup or macro setting as well as zoom?
I’m not sure — I’ll have to go look. I left it downstairs. I don’t remember reading anything about cose-ups, but it might have it. The thing seems more complicated than my computer. It’s pretty cool.
Does anybody have the link to the robo-rator script? CoD had some sort of link but i can’t get it to work
Go here to get the link and the info on using it.
many many thanks π
You guys might like the tulip attempt better. I spent most of the time trying to get further away from the cherry tree (so it would all fit). I obviously have no idea what I’m doing.
I think it’s excellent Izzy.
Those colors are pretty spectacular.
Thanks, FM. I really like the shapes in it, but it’s not scrumptious looking like the ones Olivia takes. Her’s make you just want to dive in.
That is so bright! I love it Izzy. It’s beautiful.
Well, I’m glad you like it. I had you in mind when I took it — I thought you might like the pattern and colors. At least these pictures turned out better than the last ones. I think I mentioned it — we had a hail storm a couple of weeks ago and there was a wonderful rainbow and the light was incredible. But like a fool, I just ran outside and water got on the lens — all the pictures had big spots.
That’s what gets me about these spring flowers — they just pop up from the brown and they’re so bright.
They really are! I was raised in Los Angeles, and there’s not much in the way of bulbs or spring-type stuff there. When I moved to the Northwest, I just couldn’t get over the colors! In fact, I’m still not over it. After the tulips it the rhodies, and they’re amazing as well.
Any day now you’ll be nippin’ on olivia’s heels.
I have yet to conquer the flower macro, but I’ve been gettting some practice on other things. My biggest mistake over the weekend was getting too close to my subject. I must have deleted 2/3 of the photos based on that error. Sure glad it’s not film,or slides I’m working with.
lol — not likely, but thanks.
The digital cameras are incredibly freeing that way, aren’t they? I’d never have been able to waste film like I’m doing with all the picture taking now. It’s really fun.
I’m going to try to go to sleep again.
It’s down to 86F now in the house.
Oh I miss AC
Night everyone.
Good night all.
Sheeze…catchin’ the tail of everything tonight it seems
Who’s up?
Watching the news — playing w/ flickr — the blog etc. You?
Thinking about going to bed early again tonight…got the best night’s sleep I’ve had in weeks last night…and it’s very cool and windy again…maybe it’s time to open the skylight and downwind windows and crash, seems to be going around.
I love curling up in my duvet w/ a cool breeze blowing.
Good to hear that you got a good sleep after your rotten day. I’m thinking of calling it too — it was a bad day and I’ve got to go in early tomorrow to make up for missed report writing time d/t the computer probs.
I should be working on Part III, but I’m hampered some by a flaw in msword, locks up when I go to save anything. First time I’ve had that problem. I have to do a ctrl-alt-delete and hit end-task to get out of it.
Funny thing is the progam works fine if I use another identity. So I may have to use that until the situation can be rectified.
Called my guru earlier, but he wasn’t home.
Yeah, I think I have, might be I should try again, just in case. Think I’ll do that now.
hit post on previous reply and ended up on some strange ImageShack ‘submit photo page’.
Forgot what I was gonna say too…
You were here in BT and when you replied you went to IS?
and I don’t ever use IS…it was somebody’s submit photo window, open and ready…shoulda put something on it, eh…not thinking quick enough. :{)
But I wind up in photobucket. Very strange.
just in case I miss ya during the reboot.
Hope you get it figured out NDD! If it’s still acting up make sure you save to a floppy or something, so that you have two separate copies.
See you all tomorrow. π
A thunderstorm moved through earlier, and now we have a nice, steady rain coming down… loud enough to hear it, but nothing damaging fortunately. I’m hoping it will help wash away the funk I’ve been in the past 2 days (it’s all work, driving me down), but one thing’s for sure… it will make these guys bloom soon! They’re getting ready, but it will be a few days yet. This one’s from exactly 1 yr ago today, and I dedicate this to the tulip queen, the inimitable Olivia. π

Seems pretty laid back here tonight… just what I need!
but it’s sooooo laid back, I’m heading to bed, pullin’ am FM…Ha!
Night all
Later
Peace
Thx dada, that means a lot coming from you. But don’t take off yet! I just posted one for you!
Tulips are wonderful flowers. I wanted to point this out to you IVG: Cdn Tulip Festival. Held annually, largest tulip festival in NA, began as gifts after the war. I look forward to it every year — the city is just bursting w/ tulips. My little icon came from last year.
It’s very quiet here tonight… Sorry to hear about your funk — do you think it’s going around. We all seem to have a touch of it this week — you, dada, me.
And you’re pretty inimitable yourself. π
Great to actually catch you in real time, Olivia… Perhaps the funk is going around, but mine has been long term due to the job… there is so much insecurity there, one week I’m bored to tears, then for 3 weeks I’m worked to death, and expect to be fired at any minute. Doesn’t make for a great state of mind … but at least spring’s here and gardening excitement helps take off some of the edge. It can only get better on that front, at least!
I did therapeutic plant shopping after work last night and bought 8 new delphiniums, a couple of fescues, some lantanas and torenias, a red lobelia and some other stuff I’ve forgotten already. lol
And tonight we got online and ordered some new primroses, 7 new toad lilies and 3 new hellebores to put in on the north side in the new beds… Can’t wait for those to get here! Of course, when they get going you’ll all be subjected to them. hehe.
…coming and going.
That does sound like a funk-makin situation. Well, I hope we won’t have to plan another Escape Day for you.
My therapy is chocolate — not even flowers can beat that. π I can’t wait to be subjected to your flowers and gardening posts, so keep ’em coming!
I just took a quick look and saved the link so I can go back later and browse leisurely… I was stunned though at the dates… mid-late May? Ours will be history long before then, but then that’s IA versus Ottawa… really puts spring into perspective! It’s all relative… the main thing is that it happens!
Hyacinths just popped today. So besides the yellow, purple/blue, and white crocus, I’ve got pink! hyacinth. π
We need to compare gardening notes sometime…maybe we can do that when I get my diaries going. Our crocus have been done for a couple of weeks now, though we still have hyacinths coming up on the north side (where it’s shadier and cooler). No pink here (hehe), just purple and red… but don’t you just love the scent they put out? I was out last weekend at the opposite end of the garden and a breeze brought the fragrance all the way down to where I was … that unmistakable sweetness that makes digging all those deep holes worth it! You might think me weird, but I even like the scent of tulips, LOL.
The Mariners, after showing brief signs of life for a few days, are now very close to being two games under .500 as they are getting blown away 7-1 by the Rangers, who even when they are good aren’t very good (but they can hit home runs all night long if you let them).
But enough of that. How is everybody?
And to think they delayed Veronica Mars here to show that game!
I’m doing well — how are you?
Oh, doing OK. My daughter just brought the Queen of the Universe home from dance class and had teriyaki in tow. So now I have a full tummy and dry pants. Must be naptime.
Personally I don’t care about Veronica Mars. I just wish the Mariners would play some baseball.
Good to hear things are going well with you, but what is Veronica Mars? Is that some new soap opera queen I don’t know about?
It’s not a soap. It’s more of a murder mystery about a high-school girl detective. It’s like a film noir version of Nancy Drew.
how out of the loop I can be sometimes… I’m keyed in to all sorts of indie sorts of things and my favorite tv shows, but when it comes to pop culture, I feel like such a moron. Sounds like fun though… at first I thought you had said Veronica Lake, and wondered if she was making a comeback… LOL.
Btw, great tulip pic up thread! Looks like an “Olympic Flame” … I’ve been taking lots of pics of mine lately since they started blooming last Friday. Just ask Olivia… she’s probably sick of them by now LOL.
I’ve been seeing your photos — they’re wonderful! I’m sure no one’s sick of them. It’s spring, for goodness sake, we can’t have enough flowers!
And you’re definitely not a moron for not know about VM — I don’t think it’s very popular. I just happen to watch way too much tv.
Ever since Andi and Dada gave me the tips and courage to start posting photos, I’ve gone a bit beserk. Don’t want to go overboard, so I try to restrain myself, but sometimes, it’s just too hard! LOL.
Glad you like… there will be many more to come, and I think I’m just about ready to start my gardening diaries soon… thoughts are crystallizing and I just need to organize them into the proper frame before I start writing.
I’ll definitely be looking forward to the diaries then!
I’ve been meaning to ask if you went to the CTG thing at Marymoor Park? I’d wanted to go, but my paperwork nightmare I’ve had for the past couple of weeks was still ongoing and I missed it.
I didn’t. It would have been nice, but I have a hard time getting around in the best of circumstances, and going from Seattle to Redmond on a weekend wouldn’t have been an exercise in pain.
I read the General’s account of meeting up with Kos and Jerome in Olympia over on his blog, though, which was hilarious as always.
Sorry to hear that. That’s the exact reason I haven’t gotten to any of the meetups over in Seattle. They’re too far and in the evenings. I’ve just been hoping for a daytime one on this side of the lake, so I’m really annoyed I missed it. For some reason, I thought you were over on this side.
I read the General’s post, too — it was great.
I can make it to Redmond during the work week to go to work, but I hate staying any later than about 6 because the busses take forever to get me where I want to go, when I can get there at all. Especially during the winter months when it’s dark out.
I’ve had to go into Redmond three times in the last 10 years on a Saturday. That’s three times too many.
Yeah I can sit back and relax and listen to my MP3s, but I’d still rather be home sooner rather than later.
That’s too bad about your team. Your earlier poem was splendid. π
Thank you. I need to do some more poetry writing, but I don’t seem to have the discipline to do it on a regular basis whether it’s good or bad. I should work on that.
For exceptional bravery, occasional stupidity in taking white water rapid photography, and all the other cool things he shows us and teaches (me), I thought this one would be a good one to dedicate to dada… (again from 1 yr ago today… haven’t seen this guy show up yet this year)

btw, dada, did I tell you how much I loved that “ass in the air” pic you posted earlier? π
I’d seen that ass-in-the-air picture before, but I don’t remember where. Probably one of those mailarounds where you get a bunch of pictures representing the theme “You know it’s going to be a bad day when . . . “
It’s still mighty funny.
rocks, I like it, matches my head sometimes.
Found that ass pic about a year ago and been looking for a place to use it ever since, and Andi gave me a perfect lead in with This…:{)
Here’s some gonna turn that red state blue! for you. Has green arrived up your way yet? I was loving your cloud pictures earlier… you must give me some tips on taking those… you may have noticed I stay way too grounded most of the time… I need to soar sometimes too, so any hints you have, I’ll be all ears/eyes. π

More muscari of course, aka, grape hyacinth (though they’re not a hyacinth at all… what I like to call fauxmenclature in the plant world.
