Well, I hope he does, otherwise he would just be using BooMan Tribune the blogs as a forum for free political advertisement. I’m a big fan of Senator Feingold, but I think using blogs as free political advertisement should be frowned upon and if possibly discouraged. Otherwise, we will be inundated with hit and run politicians.
I agree with you on that. I hope that he, his staff, or someone comes back and at least says thank you.

For my 2 cents, I don’t really give much of a shit whether he talks to us. For me, it’s about whether he listens and responds to what we want. A little dialogue might be necessary to clarify the agenda, but I’d rather have the guy drafting the right legislation, organizing other pols to back him, and fighting like a madman on the Congressional floor than talking with us here.
Agreed, But I was referring to the general phenomenom of politicians using blogs for hit and run free political advertisement and the overall effect on blogs of that behavior. I am hoping that Senator Feingold would be above that. After all, coming here he is just preaching to the choir in any case. So why bother unless he wants to engage in a convversation?

But from my pov, the idea that he’s got staff posting here in the first place certainly indicates that we’re on someone’s radar, and so long as he’s responsive to what we want, I’m good with that.
I understand what you’re saying, but to me it’s just the “yes, I heard you” that counts. I don’t expect him to answer, but it would be good if his staff would say, hey we heard ya.
To me it would add lots more dignity to everyone saying “thank you thank you Senator Feingold for coming to BooMan Tribune” as opposed to there being no evidence that he ever read any of the comments. (Reading this over I’m wondering if I am really being at all coherent or if maybe that daily ration of chardonnay has gotten the best of me?)
If this is, indeed, an effort to have a dialog, then good on Russ (or his staff).
If it’s another Drive By, I, for one, am gonna be pissed. BT ain’t dKos.

And quite frankly I don’t think I would like the idea of a presidential candidate who was hanging around reading blogs instead of campaigning and implementing the agenda we want implemented, and stuff like that.
But now if one of Russ’ staffers were to come in, be a blog liaison, answer questions, take the pulse of the community, and maybe set up a Q&A session with Russ . . . now I think that would be completely appropriate.

Math teacher, some time. I am an elementary school teacher. I teach EVERYTHING!
I lack the discipline to teach one subject all day long. I started out doing that and found that I need to teach the connections. It’s all rock & roll. Of course Andi says that I am emotionally well suited to teach 12 year olds — or something like that.
I think that’s pretty cool. When you said connections you reminded me of James Burke and his show Connections. Always loved that show.

I actually did write something once when I was conked out asleep in a class at school. I drifted off while taking notes in a high school psych class. (Hilariously, there is actually a pic in our high school yearbook of 95% of that class asleep while the teacher lectured.) It looked almost like some cross between scribbling and hieroglyphics. I’ve always wished I knew what it said.
When I was taking notes in college, I created my own, on the spot, shorthand. At night if I didn’t rewrite all my notes, I couldn’t decipher then two days later.

I once dozed off during a final exam and woke up to find that my pen had trailed off the page in mid-sentence. Might have had something to do with two finals back-to-back the same morning and the all-nighter the night before (wherein I read much of the material for the first time ever).
Fortunately, stream-of-unconsciousness must have been the optimal approach to that particular exam (the class was an American poetry seminar), because I aced the thing.
I used to tell myself if I started nodding off during class it was alright, because I was learing subconsciously.
Nah, that wasn’t subconsciously, FM… it’s a time honored process called slackmosis, fyi.

Glad you get to go home soon. The interview went well, except that I don’t know whether to be most apprehensive about getting the offer or not getting it, since I really could use at least a couple of weeks to get my bearings.
I’ll hope for your getting the best of all possible solutions where you get offered the job but they can wait for you to start for a few weeks.

OK, that beats my tooth extraction. I had strep throat once. It was horrible. My family knew I was sick because I willingly let the doctor inject my butt full of antibiotics (literally) without so much as a protest.
Hurry up and get better.

but mostly because the painkiller I took a few hours ago is wearing off. I’m going to hold off as long as I can, eat some dinner (probably something challenging like cottage cheese and mandarin oranges), take the painkillers and let them carry me away.
You’re lucky in a way. When I have to take something like that for my migraines, it makes me hyper. I really wish it would have the opposite effect and put me to sleep.
We had a cat like that once. We were driving cross-country to move from Washington state to New Jersey, and the veternarian prescribed some kitty tranquilizers to make the trip easier for her.
Unfortunately the tranquilizers had exactly the opposite effect. The poor cat went psycho, yowling intermittently, ripping up her carrier (a real carrier too, not one of those cardboard jobs), peeing all over my sister in the car, and just generally acting like she was on a bad drug trip, which I guess she was.
Needless to say we unilaterally discontinued her meds.
It’s all subjective, isn’t it? I think tooth extraction is worse. 🙂
I’ve had strep a bunch of times; apparently, I’m susceptible. The scary thing is that I am disabled with autoimmune disease, so any infection with me can become really serious. But I am doing the right things, right now eating soup and am starting a major course of amoxicillin afterwards.
Okay, back to lurking. I will have to force myself into bed after dinner, you people are too interesting for me to resist chatting, lol.
