I read your earlier comment when you got back from the game last night! I was watching and knowing that you were both there yelling and screaming in that crowd! Yay Sharks! {{{{Cali}}}}
I hope everyone had a great day!!!! I decided to drink the chardonay instead of going out for mixers. LOL I already have the car in the garage as we are expecting bad storms tonight.
the other night to take and upload more pictures while I had wifi and I didn’t get that so I thought I’d try for one that required less time away from the hockey playoffs.
You and Jim should be proud of me — I’ve been playing w/ it every night this week (I’ve probably taken about 700 photos of flowers lol!) The uploading takes time! And I have to resize them smaller b/c of the dialup thing. (Yes, I’m looking into switching.) And deciding which one or two look the best out of 100 … 🙂
Here’s one I just uploaded that I took tonight. This is w/ the 105mm.
Hi olivia, glad to see you are having fun and finding your way around your lovely new camera! I’m looking forward to lots more great shots as you find your stride.
Things are going well, I just got back from my son’s girlfriend’s vocal recital. He accompanies her on piano and they are really quite an amazing team!
I have played w/ it, but I don’t like the way the auto focuses — I want to do it all myself lol … 🙂 I think it’s the same w/ driving a standard vs automatic. Feel like you have more control etc.
I imagine I’ll look tomorrow — I’m going back to try out another lens or two. I’ve noticed that holding the camera steady is considerably harder when it weighs 50lbs … 😉
Do you or have you used a monopod? I’m thinking that might work better for me.
And I’m still trying to figure out the lighting… Do you use any speedlights?
Hey, JimF. Just wanted to thank you for all the cool math links. I fell asleep but then checked them out when i woke up in the middle of the night. Funny how it was just discovered that the Da Vinci Code judge hid a message using that Fabinocci thing or whatever (just made up a spelling since I can’t remember). Sychronistic or what?
I tell my sixth graders that the first semester of math could be last time the will have to study ugly arithmetic: long division with decimals, addition and subtraction of mixed numbers with unlike denominators, simplifying every fraction.
Once they are beyond that, it’s all rock & roll. I guess that’s why I linked to math sites after looking at a flower. I’m glad you enjoyed the links.

Great landscape portrait, AndiF! I was just reading my camera book trying to figure out why my landscape pics involving forest are dull and drab and don’t pick up the colors.
That’s surprising given the quality of both your ocean and flower photos. About the only thing I’ve found that really negatively affects forest photos is light that is too bright or too direct.
Thanks, AndiF. I will post a photo one day soon so you can see what I mean. The forest all looks like mush. There must be a different setting on my camera or something, or maybe I just need a new camera!! A Nikon D70s, I maybe think. LOL. But now I am off to see my son’s girlfriend’s vocal recital at CalArts, he will accompany her on piano.

You don’t want me to think you have a social life? What fun can I have if I can’t imagine that you and Booman went off together to find the perfect cheesesteak and martini joint.
Hey there FM… I just stepped in and thought everyone had taken off… how’s life down your way tonight? Have you and George locked yourselves away from the guests again?
I left earlier to watch KO, then had dinner and a bit of a nap in the recliner before Bill Maher. Thought I’d stop in and see if anyone was around… astounded to see you pop in. You must have gotten your requisite naps in today in between all the other stuff you were doing, I guess.
Is George snoring yet? Pepa’s whistling away here on the futon couch 🙂
OMG I think I lost a day somewhere. So how’re ya doing? I’m not really sure at the moment how I am. I think I’m up 5 hours early. Man talk about confused at the moment.
Sounded earlier like you had quite the day of stuff to do with the yard and the wedding and all. Maybe that nap addled your brain a bit. I’ve had that happen many times… wake up and wonder what day it is, when it’s still the same day, lol.
Just a rainy night here and tons more on the radar for tonight and the rest of the weekend, so I guess if I had to bring work home, this was the weekend to do it. But, I’ve decided that as revenge for so many of these working weekends, that I am going to either take next Fri off, or I’ll be “sick.”
Looks like we’re the lone loungers tonight, unless we can stir up some trouble. Hey, did you see my new pic of the freaky Dragon Arum I posted in the Happy Hour thread?
It looks like everyone had a pretty long and rough week. I sure know I did. Finished one report for work(snacks) and the same day went straight into analysis of another project (diarrhea) and am now trying to finish the report on that one. LOL. Such is the nature of my strange job in market research. Before you tell me that sounds interesting, let me say that I hate it. I enjoyed teaching much more, until FL and politics became unbearable and I bailed back up North here.
Btw, been checking out your new blog, and I like it a lot! The home page is beautifully done and very soothing to my tired eyes. Was just about to write a comment about your road trip…
Thanks IVG. It’s like the title implies, Mundane. But I wanted to write and I’m still a little hesitant about writing here. Not because I don’t think it would be accepted, but because most of my stuff isn’t political enough.
I figure just some ordinary things that are going on with me is a good start.
I’m still trying to adjust to it’s the middle of the freaking night and I’m wide awake.
celebrating the mundane does have its charms and definitely has its place. I damn near split a gut when I saw the pics of the farmhouse, then the “Indoor outhouse” (that one cracked me up!) I have to admit, I’ve not done any diaries yet either, for similar reasons. Though I have plenty to say about politics, I just don’t have the time to go into the depth that the many great writers here do. That’s why I’m going to start with gardening diaries (something I know well and love writing about) and try to inject the political viewpoint into them as appropriate. I hope to start the 1st one this weekend, and have tentatively titled it “Spring Cleaning.” I do have a political angle for it, hehe.

I hope everyone had a great day!!!! I decided to drink the chardonay instead of going out for mixers. LOL I already have the car in the garage as we are expecting bad storms tonight.
I just got ya some r69 …
LOL I will enjoy that next week or maybe even tomorrow night LOL
you have to remember to look for updates on the missing head story and keep me informed about any new development.
and what head?????? is missing LOL
Until I read what it was about … 🙂
But, I will let you know if I hear/read anything more.

Very nice!
It’s mostly still all a mystery … 🙂
The sense of mystery comes through in the photo! Very cool pic! I love the depth in the center.
Hi mm!! How’s things? I saw your beautiful tulips earlier while I was lurking at work!
How did you know my next questions was going to be “how complicated is the new camera?” 🙂
Yes, there are sub-sub-menus upon sub-menus upon menus that I haven’t even discovered yet b/c I haven’t figure out how to access them LOL!
Oh no…do you have to RTFM, and it’s the size of War and Peace??
that it is just beautiful. The edges and the depth are exquisite.
I feel fortunate that the person who gave me flowers in my bday choose these, since they are still alive and blooming so many days later.
I’m finding the 105mm to be very fickle … 🙂
Fickle but fun and challenging or fickle and frustrating?
Fun 40%, challenging 40%, frustrating 20% … 🙂
Are you using autofocus or manual on the 105?
I have played w/ it, but I don’t like the way the auto focuses — I want to do it all myself lol … 🙂 I think it’s the same w/ driving a standard vs automatic. Feel like you have more control etc.
What do you do?
When I am shooting macro, I almost always shoot with manual focus.
That is exquisite. The shadows dray your eye into the photo.
Are you shooting hand held or are your on a tripod?
I imagine I’ll look tomorrow — I’m going back to try out another lens or two. I’ve noticed that holding the camera steady is considerably harder when it weighs 50lbs … 😉
Do you or have you used a monopod? I’m thinking that might work better for me.
And I’m still trying to figure out the lighting… Do you use any speedlights?
I know what you mean. The 105 on the D70 is not exactly a balanced pair. If you want a real arm builder, try the 35-70 on anything.
I tried using a monopod (actually a hiking pole with a screw) and was not happy with it.
I have the SB800 but under-utilize it greatly. I only use it as a fill flash for portraits. I prefer natural light.
Hey, JimF. Just wanted to thank you for all the cool math links. I fell asleep but then checked them out when i woke up in the middle of the night. And how is that strep throat? Did you follow the doctor’s orders and pamper yourself?
I’m so miserable. I can’t pamper. Not enough energy. Am resting. Also making myself a ham & cheese omelet for dinner and that should help.
Roomie is back tomorrow so she can pamper you in a style to which you deserve to be accustomed?
She’s flying in tomorrow AM, which will make things somewhat easier. (Long story saved for some other time on why my response is hedgy.)
Good. Long-distance mother henning has way too many limitations.
Well, I’m not in the ER, so a big hooray to that. :}
But big hugs {{{{{{Indy}}}}} and sending you LOVEbug …
Heh, that totally made me laugh, which really hurt. (But that’s okay, I have a bit of a masochistic side.)
Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Much appreciated.
Hope you feel better soon!!!!!
Hope you feel better, and I’m glad roomie is coming home tomorrow.
John Mellencamp is practically a neighbor or ours. Andi drives by his house ever couple weeks when she goes to the library in Bloomington.
You guys couldn’t wait for me to get off the phone to put the happy hour up? sigh…
Happy Hour Waits for Noone!!!! LOL
I figured you were off having — oh what is that phrase — oh yeah I vaguely remember it — a social life.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
And here I was being such an attentive host today…who knew?
I’ll put up my random 10 as soon as I pry my laptop (with all the music on it) out of CBtY’s death grip.
You have been fabulous Darling!!!! But there is a time for everything and happy hour was here. LOL
You don’t want me to think you have a social life? What fun can I have if I can’t imagine that you and Booman went off together to find the perfect cheesesteak and martini joint.
like the big kids but I can’t make it.
Good night everybody.
G’night!
Anybody awake?
Hey there FM… I just stepped in and thought everyone had taken off… how’s life down your way tonight? Have you and George locked yourselves away from the guests again?
Hi IVG. I’m still trying to decide if it’s friday or saturday. If it’s firday, what the hell am I doing up?

No I didn’t. I’ll have to find it.
Well this is cool. The only time I get to talk to you is hit and run from work, or saying good night when you’re just getting on at night.
So all the other late nighters have called it a night huh.
Wait until I talk to them again.

Heeeey Manny. Where’s the beer funnel? I haven’t tried that in awhile, but I’m getting my second wind.
I can see one problem is taken of. Now to hook a key up to it.
one of these
That looks good for starters. Of course, I think cheese cake would bring me wide awake, but i’m not pushig. (hint, hint)
but it sure is harmless enough! What does that say about me that I’m so averse to dessert type things? Well, I’m not going to worry about it, because that leaves that much more for my friends, and it would be way to costly to go into therapy to figure that one out!
as in cheessecake…well then

hey dada… and I thought FM was making a sly reference to a “church key,” something I haven’t heard about in years, but it was almost a naughty remark when I was a kid. I never quite understood why, but I guess it had something to do with the scandalous activity of drinking beer in the days before pop top cans. 🙂
The proberbial churck key. It was SOP to have one on your key chain. Ah, the good old days.
Ye Olde Church Key…before Beer Bongs and pop-tops you did shooters by punching a hole in the bottom and the top of the can…:{)
Shirley you remember
dada you keep bringing back fond memories. 🙂
