I should have paid more attention in biology. I kind of thought the turtle laid eggs and then the dude turtle fertilized them – kind of like froggies do.
No, but I’ll bet it’s a spectacle. My favorite was Monkey Island. They look just like people! Oh, and the kangaroos and peacocks were fun to watch too.

When I got home from my 3daycampingwithsixthgradersfieldtrip, I needed music. so I just let iTunes roll for a few hours randomly. After 60-80 songs, I put a list together by using a Fibonnacci sequence of songs.
So you’re right its not entirely random; but cool, I think not. So now lets see if that explanation will kill off a lounge as quickly as a Quirks and Quarks, Science Friday, New Scientist geekfest.
Those are great … Love the Beatles, REM and Janis even more … When I was in highschool, a group of friends would take our guitars down to the lake and sit around bonfires belting out Me & Bobby McGee. Those were the days … <sigh> 🙂
as yesterday I thought I had it beat, but today I was pretty sluggish. Picked up steam during the day though.
Celebrated cinco de mayo at a Mexican restaurant with an old friend, two cups cofee. Then a 16 oz mocha at Ristretos Coffee and Tea. Then this evening a few Pacificos and now starting on the mescal.
Anything I say from here on out should be interpreted accordingly…
I chose to party here vs going out on the town. Cheaper! No danger of the federales snatching me off the streets. And no doubt better company. Although were I would have liked to have gone tonight would have been some great folks. (Been here long enough this time around to know who hangs with who mostly.)
Those water drops remind me of a photo we bought from a young lady last year at the street fair here in Fargo.
She had a shot of water drops hanging on cobwebs, or horse hair on a fence, and through macro shot of the water drop you can see the landscape in the distance, but inverted.
If you click on some here you can get an idea. I like to see what others are doing, gives me fresh ideas on where to focus, assume the same for you.
thanks for the link! That sounds like a great photo. The question is, do you think you could get a reflection in toothpaste? And you never did say what kind it was …
this company. And because I’m a distributor and also fed up with trying to “sell” people on ideas, things, etc, I just avoided getting into it.
Ms NDD and I, however, like many of the products and think highly of their nutritional and therapeutic value, so anyone interested in more details can make us of my email in the sig line. (So as to avoid interrupting the fine discourse here.)
I was just amazed with what Rachel Lea Dickinson was doing with her photography. I’d never seen anything like it before. And I’m very much looking forward to her return to the street fair. (Although I fear it will be costly once again.)
It just amazes me sometimes how people are able to look at the world around them from such a different perspective. I’m sure you’ve appreciated that too.

I just got home from a community fiesta for Cinco de Mayo where I got to watch a bunch of students perform folklorico dances from all regions of Mexico, student mariachis and tons of food. It was a great day, the weather worked out for us. How goes it in your neck of the flatlands (I would say woods, but you are tree deficient). 🙂
I picked that up in N CA, so I’m for sure the only one in town with one like it.
Everything goes well here. Although I’m a tad bummed at not being at the Cinco de Mayo festival dance and music downtown tonight.
I could have gone… but I’m gettin’ tired of doing all the entertainment gigs solo. Two weeks left till Ms NDD’s online semester is up, then we’re going to whooop it up.
“neck of the prairie” would work. and “flatlands” works for Fargo, but we actually have some topography higher than interstate loop exchanges 20-30 miles west of the MN border.
I actually wish I had a few thousand dollars to drop on cool T-shirts. My latest acquisition is a portrait of Ben Franklin with the quote about liberty and security as the caption. Nice and black and hip.
My daughter wants one that says “Don’t tease the pirates.” I have no idea why.
all to keep the white peach shisha away from Marmotdude. Do you know how long it’s gonna take me to get him off the bar (after I join in the frivolity, of course)
I need to do one from the other side. I have a friend who passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago. His survivors included a sister and dog named The Woofinator.
Fortunately someone stepped up to take care of Woofie. He’s being shipped from Washington to Arizona, where he’s going from the apartment of an ill and not very active guy to some acreage where he gets to run around and play with a few other dogs.
I tell you, watching Republicans in office you can get the idea that there are some pretty rotten bastards out there, and there are, but then someone comes along and does a great kindness like offering to take Woofie from four states away and you immediately start feeling better.
I decided to make them tonight in case they don’t turn out and I have to do it over again tomorrow.
It’s a reunion party for a bunch of us who used to work together and now all work different places. The guy who is hosting it promised his wife she wouldn’t have to do all the work (since she doesn’t really know us) and I said I would help him out.
I lied – I didn’t go to bed, I watched the Cleveland Cavaliers win the first round playoff series against Washington, in OT! God, LeBron is unbelievable.
I hear that’s going to be the new Law and Order series. Turtle stories ripped from the headlines. So you might want to reconsider. It could be your story. But who would play you?
home improvement isn’t allowed? What a strange place this cafe is. In fact, I don’t like that rule so I’m going to the new cafe. Where the rules are better.
Oh, perfect.
I didn’t notice the look on the Mr.’s face before – it’s priceless!
He looks crazed – like he’s thinking “finally! I caught one!” Can you imagine how hard it is to chase down a mate when you move so slowly?
that the intelligent designer made the female that much faster than the male.
You’re right, that would just be cruel. Funny, but cruel. Hey, did I ever tell you how slow Mr. Nature runs? It’s really quite unfortunate for him.
And we should infer from that you run very fast?
I seldom have to run anymore. I just set a package of Chips Ahoy in front of him and give him the remote and he forgets he was chasing me.
I guess this means it’s time for me to come out of my shell? ;o)
Or apparently for the women in the cafe to retreat to theirs and look terminally bored.
Yeah, she’s probably got a cell phone in there somewhere :o)
difficult to see what direction she’s facing.
Might account for the look on his face …
Maybe that’s why he’s got such a weird look on his face – he mounted the wrong end, but somehow it still feels good.
but she pulled her head in just as I got ready to take the picture.
she was giving him a blow job and you interrupted? THAT’s why he has that look on his face?
I’ll bet she was like “great, a camera, and I didn’t even bother to wax my upper lip this morning.”
The turtle, not Andi.
And I’d like to thank you all for the very gratifying response to my picture. I do feel quite fulfilled. And without the aid of cookies.
Your mission for tomorrow is to hunt down other woodland creatures getting their groove on.
is readily available this time. As is finding male turtles flat on their backs.
I need to show up on Friday more often.
I should have paid more attention in biology. I kind of thought the turtle laid eggs and then the dude turtle fertilized them – kind of like froggies do.
when the galapagos turtles are doin it?
No, but I’ll bet it’s a spectacle. My favorite was Monkey Island. They look just like people! Oh, and the kangaroos and peacocks were fun to watch too.
that we suddenly get so animated over turtles humping?
it was everyone else who disappeared. I’m always animated, with or without humping turtles 😉
The question is what are we going to talk about tomorrow if we exhaust humping turtles?
I’ve never relied on humping turtles before.
Although I guess it’s time to confess that I’m leaving you all tomorrow night alone in the cafe to entertain yourselves.
Just be sure to post a picture of some reptile or possibly amphibian having sex.
spider sex — that would scare Manny.
exhaust themselves
Seems we have frightened Family Man.
Sabres just scored to tie it w/ seconds — SECONDS! — left in the 3rd.
in overtime!
How many innings are there in hockey, nine or ten?

I think you engineered it just so you could look cool.
It is semi-random.
I assume you did the sequence choosing by hand , I mean you couldn’t program itunes to do a fibonacci sequence?
Bells Theorem
Yeah that’s the ticket. And somewhere around here there is a dead cat or not, a lady or a tiger or not.
Geeks rule!
Those are great … Love the Beatles, REM and Janis even more … When I was in highschool, a group of friends would take our guitars down to the lake and sit around bonfires belting out Me & Bobby McGee. Those were the days … <sigh> 🙂
Night everyone. It’s past my bedtime and I’m worn out. Plus I have a feeling I’m going to have nightmares about turtle sex tonight.
Have a good night.
Yep, we frightened him. Good thing Jim and Super can’t be frightened or we’d be here all alone, just the girls, thinking about turtle sex. <yawn>
I think I’ll follow Family Man to bed.
Nighty night. The turtles say ‘pleasant dreams’.
I’m going to read for awhile before bed.
Night, maryb if you’re still around.
I leave for 5 minutes and everyone goes to bed?
Maybe the late night crew will get here soon …
what was the score? who won?
<sob> 7-6! What a pisser — they tied it up w/ seconds left and then scored the OT goal at 0:18!
Enough of that … So did you find your card?
I never I thought I’d hear the words “what a pisser” come out of your mouth Olivia 🙂
No, It’s not in any of the usual places. So rather than panic, I’m just putting off the big search until tomorrow.
since Andi, Second Nature, Family Man, Cabin Girl and Supersoling all abandoned me. At least Olivia came along to keep me company. And now you!
WHO abandoned you?
::sniff:: you
How are you feeling NDD — better I hope!
as yesterday I thought I had it beat, but today I was pretty sluggish. Picked up steam during the day though.

Ya, You Betcha!

Although were I would have liked to have gone tonight would have been some great folks. (Been here long enough this time around to know who hangs with who mostly.)
but they will read everything you write … Any new ‘macro’ shots today? 🙂
but I’m thinking I’d better have something really great to make up for this one here
How about you? (I haven’t made my usual tour yet of your site.)
That was a pretty gross-out conversation you initiated NDD.
Nothing today — too tired. I put up three yesterday, including this one:
Those water drops remind me of a photo we bought from a young lady last year at the street fair here in Fargo.
She had a shot of water drops hanging on cobwebs, or horse hair on a fence, and through macro shot of the water drop you can see the landscape in the distance, but inverted.

In no particular order, as usual:
“Moldau” (selections from “Ma Vlast”) — Sir Charles Mackerras/Czech Philharmonic
Girl Of My Dreams — Bram Tchaikovsky
Chopin’s Waltz in F# — Dinu Lopatti
Take A Drink On Me — Charlie Poole
Different Drum — Michael Nesmith

The President’s Brain — Big Green
Big Trouble — Trout Fishing In America
Operator — The Grateful Dead
Instant Karma — John Lennon
I absolutely love that piece Omir!!! I haven’t listened to it in so long — thanks … I’m listening to it now! 🙂
Heh. It actually was my second target. I checked out a copy of Mackerras’ New World Symphony by Dvorak and The Moldau came with it.
The New World Symphony is one of my favorites.
Dvorak was the reason I bought the CD — and the Moldau was a wonderful surprise! Symphony no9 is one of my very favourites. Excellent taste Omir. 🙂
and…..turtle porn? [shrugs shoulders and laughs hysterically]
I love the cafe dwellers!
T-shirt for today.

I like that. I wonder if it comes in my size.
¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Mezcal con Gusano, by Monte Alban, that’ll settle him right down.
the marmot always behaves until you arrive.
You two must be on the exact same wavelength 😉
although I draw the line at the rubber underwear.
I hope you don’t mind my saying that I really don’t want to hear about your rubber underwear.
(You just said you drew the line, you didn’t say which side of it you were standing on.)
I’ve been doing what does not come naturally to me — baking. I have to bring a desert to a party tomorrow. Betty Crocker I am not. <sigh>
But now my lemonbars are in the oven. Where did everybody go?
up on reading, Omir’s tribute to buster is amazing.
I haven’t had dinner so I’ll be back in a few. It’s quesadilla time!
You’re too kind. But thank you.
I need to do one from the other side. I have a friend who passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago. His survivors included a sister and dog named The Woofinator.

for a dog. Woofie.
Sounds good. I’m listening to Dvorak and catching up on all the blog news I missed today as I was not connected.
You are helping a friend host, right?
I decided to make them tonight in case they don’t turn out and I have to do it over again tomorrow.
It’s a reunion party for a bunch of us who used to work together and now all work different places. The guy who is hosting it promised his wife she wouldn’t have to do all the work (since she doesn’t really know us) and I said I would help him out.
volunteer your services…
I’ve been thinking that too. But he is a good friend. And friends help friends right? And I guess I could have said no so I have only myself to blame.
and buy just exactly what you need. People seem to understand a lack of time in one’s schedule these days.
There’s a place here that makes exquisite German Chocolate Cake. But ooo la la, ya nearly need to mortage something to get one.
how proud of you I am that you’re making it yourself.
I think the most complicate item I ever made was sour dough bread. That used to be a lot of fun, especially the kneading…
my friends that I never make anything, I always buy it. So I thought I’d surprise them.
I’ve done that when I’ve had to make something for a group I’m not familiar with …
So what is he making … 🙂
Actually I think he’s grilling something. That’s what men do, right? Grill.
Actually he is doing most of the work, I’m just bringing a desert and an appetizer to help out. I really didn’t mean to complain about it.
Well, yes I did, but now I feel guilty about it.
No, real men just eat it raw.
can live up to your manly standards. I remind myself of that every day. I say to myself, “Self, not every man can be boran2”.
So true.
Now if it was me I probably would have stopped at Safeway on the way to the party and picked up a couple dozen sugar cookies.
Yeah, that’s me, talented but lazy.
I lied – I didn’t go to bed, I watched the Cleveland Cavaliers win the first round playoff series against Washington, in OT! God, LeBron is unbelievable.
Hard to go to sleep after all that chocolate you ate?
Umm, interesting discussions here tonite.
Ya got something against turtle porn?
No. I download it all the time.
I suspected as much.
Want to post some?
I would, but I’m afraid of getting caught by the authorities. (STU: Special Turtle Unit)
I hear that’s going to be the new Law and Order series. Turtle stories ripped from the headlines. So you might want to reconsider. It could be your story. But who would play you?
I’d play the turtle pimp, of course.
ah, you act, you paint. What a renaissance man you are.
If you were only good at electrical wiring …
Hey, there are iimits to what even we discuss in the lounge.
Now back to that turtle-on-turtle action . . .
home improvement isn’t allowed? What a strange place this cafe is. In fact, I don’t like that rule so I’m going to the new cafe. Where the rules are better.
horse… or whatever they say in your neck of the woods.
New Lounge open.
