May the 4’s be with you
Morning Andi!!!!!
How are you and the diva dogs?
We are great!!!! and how are you and your puppies this am?
We’re all fine. They’ve had their breakfast and happily back asleep.
same here. The girls eat and pass back out unless I move. LOL
This week is not as hectic as far as meetings but lots of other things going on as usual. I have to get really busy with some new designs and things like that. I did do another podcast last night.
If Abstinance only worked….
Good morning all.
Is it only Tuesday?
for you, it’s Thursday.
You guys always come through.
Now, if you will only let my bosses know…
How are you today, Andi?
I’m fine. Just a little frustrated that it won’t warm up enought here for bike riding. Of course, I do have walking in the woods as fall back.
Too bad – it’s cooled down here as well.
Heading out for the cubicle.
Morning Ask. Just remember and tell em FM said so.
It’s amazing how the world listens to me. 🙂
Hi, all. Drove about 700 miles over the weekend. Now back for the day and then fly to Phoenix tonight. Next week things will begin to trickle back to normal. One day I may even write again!
I really appreciate all the good wishes along the way. They warm my cockles! Bet you didn’t know I had any.
Thursday, I’ll meet Raging Hippie in Denver!
With your cockles sufficiently warm, I guess it’s time for a nap before you head out again.
from the orthodontist?
$5400 and 18 – 24 mos. First thing he asked was “why the heck did we wait so long to begin treatment?” I answered “money” which shut him up. I read that orthodontists are among the most overpaid professionals for the amount of work they do. This guy has all of the technicians do the work and he just walks around like Yul Brynner in The King and I giving a nod or a point. My daughter has been going there for over two years and has only seen him for a total of 3 minutes.
I feel the whole dentistry thing is a sham. Not in that the work needs to get done, but in the prices they charge.
I do too. And even though we now have dental insurance, the copays are still enough to make you think twice before going.
Incredible that he even asked that. Real world, meet dentist.
I remember my frustration at having to sit and wait for at least 45 minutes past the appointment time for my 3 minute appointment.
The practice is very modern and efficient; it looks like they’re manufacturing spaceship components. There are about a dozen stations in one large, super-clean room and a technician in charge of each one. They’re in and out of there in 15 minutes. My dental insurance gives us a “list” of like 4 dentists/orthodontists that they’ll work with, so it wasn’t a big choice.
So I guess you and I will both be on the peanut butter and jelly diet for the next 2 years.
Maybe you should encourage one of your kids to become an orthodontist? I’ll have to try that out on CBtY, too.
I took pity on the poor kid and paid extra for clear brackets just on the top – in consideration of the awkward stage he’s going through right now.
Good for you. Will you adopt me?
Sure, FM, I’ll adopt you. I’ll provide meals and internet access if you’ll do yard work and backrubs.
Deals off. Backrubs can do, yard work nope.
you are. I bet you wouldn’t have made me eat those awful salmon croquettes, either.
Wow, you are a better mother than I. With round one of the braces, I pointed out the price difference to CBtE, and asked him if there was something else he thought we could spend that on, like a weekend trip somewhere.
He didn’t even ask about clear this time. Whew!
I don’t understand why clear is more. It’s like the tampon thing – do you want the ones made of burlap that are affordable, or do you want to pay $50 a box for the ones that are soft and comfortable?
I guess it like poeple that have to have certain kind of sheets. You know the snobby kind. 🙂
You always pay more for comfort and looks.
You try using burlap tampons and see how fast you turn into a snob.
Okay, it’s definitely time for me to get more coffee and wash the mental picture of FM wearing burlap out of my mind…thanks so much, SN. 🙂
Hey, I’m still recovering from Manny’s ten things that look like a va(g)ina pics from last night.
So, I guess it wasn’t such a bad thing that I fell asleep by 10, then…I did see the froggy bottom. though.
Now wait a minute. SN is the one that said she had burlap undies.
I lived in Europe where this was TP. In certain, ahem, areas I can be a snob too.
1000 thread count sheets feel so much better than the cheap ones you can read through. LOL
Is there a comfort difference between plastic and metal braces? Maybe I am an even worse mother than I thought…
I doubt it. But I also doubt that it takes more work to make clear ones. They offer 25 different color brackets for the same price, but the clear are waaay more. I feel like they do it on purpose.
Oh, it’s definitely on purpose.
They porbably make about 2000 or 3000 percent profit from each. Such a rip off.
to both …
Snort. And a cigarette?
Ooh, kansas, I got your book. How exciting!
It was so cool of you to order it from my local mystery book store. They really appreciate the business and I loved being able to sign it for you and just you. Thanks, SN.
And it was so mysterious, I told the owner that you knew me as Laura/Second Nature and I could “hear” the intrigue in her email as she wondered what the heck that meant. 🙂
Oh God, now the woman of mystery.
I usually just blurt out way too much information about myself – it’s nice to by mysterious every once in awhile.
I know. My whole man of mystery thing just gets shot to hell everyday.
Well, as long as you won’t reveal your unusual southern name there will always be an air of mystery about you.
I might go and get that spray paint and take a picture of myself out in the front yard today and take all the mystery out of it.
Nah, I’d hate to be the cause of blindness.
you’d teach that snobby woman a lesson. She’d have to bleach her retinas.
Yea, but still not worth a trip to jail.
I bet it’s Ashley Wilkes…right, FM? Do we get a prize if we guess right?
I think that’s close. I’m still betting on Courtney Beauregard.
Still Nope. I will say that there are three town with 100 miles of each other. Each town has a different name and each one of the names is of one mine. Hah!
Nope on both.
My sympathies. I hope your book tour has been full of good crowds with lots of disposable income who know the right way to spend it.
Phoenix. Yuck.
Raging Hippie. Yay.
Hi Kansas. How was Arkansas?
Gorgeous and friendly. I’d almost forgotten how beautiful the Ozark mountains are, and I even got to drive them in the evening, after a rain, when mist was rising out of the valleys. Very spooky and pretty. I can’t say that I would recommend staying at a certain famous hotel in Eureka Springs, but they sure do put on a good Sunday brunch.
I’ve never been there but have relatives that live near Russellville, AR. and I’ve been to a place called Heber Springs. It’s beautiful up there.
Who says promotion is the best part of writing a book? Because if I ever find them I’m going to slug them. I wish all I had to do was the writing part. Did you catch the Garrison Keilor editorial that started out with some thoughts on writing? It’s at http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_3791084 and every pro I know whose seen it has laughed out loud.
Prepare to hate me. I actually kind of like the promotion part, or maybe that’s only this time, because I haven’t done it for awhile.
That Keillor piece. . .But he wants writers to stop whining!! Life without whining? That would be like coffee without caffeine. The three parts of writing a novel are: get an idea, write it, whine about it. Not necessarily in that order.
There are parts of promotion that are kind of fun. For me, mostly cons, where I get to pontificate and people want to listen to me. I even enjoy readings and signings if I don’t have to spend too much time getting to them. But the whole book tour thing doesn’t really do it for me. Glad you’re enjoying it, though. I also hate begging for blurbs.
Morning everyone.
Morning, it is.
I guess it is. Moving kind of slowly today.
You’re up FM!
Yep and working on the itunes thing. I ended up getting 2,3, and sometimes 4 copies of the same songs.
How’re you today Olivia?
That’s encouraging! Did you try googling the name of your mp3 player to see if there were any hints for use?
I’m okay — tired and a litte down about you know. But, it’s gonna be a nice day, so I’ll get over it. 🙂
It’s generic and I got it for signing up for DSL. I think I can transfer songs now, just got to figure out how to get rid of all the extra copies that got produced.
Glad you’re feeling better and it looks like a nice day here too.
Usually the delete button works. LOL
Sorry about the Senators. 🙁
How are you today?
come back, I’ll be available to provide you lessons in denial from the expertise I’ve developed from being a lifelong cubbies fan.
Unfortunately I have a lot of post-season disappointment experience w/ the Sens. It’s becoming an expected routine w/ the team — dominate the reg season and fall apart in p-offs.
they get to the playoffs so you’re way ahead of me.
like a tease … it wears a fan down. 🙂
for that — since I have so little actual experience from which to judge.
I saw your greeting over at Manny’s place. Thank you! And backatcha.
Good to see you! :*
Tried to arrange a quick strep test for my son at his regular doctor and they didn’t have anything open until Thursday – not even five minutes with a nurse.
So I just changed to a new practice and am taking him in. He’s got giant abscesses on his tonsil. Ick.
See you all later.
Good luck SN.
Tonsilitus? Yuk. I so sympathize. Been there, done that repeatedly, and so did my son.
My youngest daughter was always getting strep throat from her tonsils. The doc. said they had to come out so they did when she was 7. This biggest thing I’ll never forget is that with her mom, grandmother, sister and me sitting in the waiting room, the first thing she wanted when she woke up was her Daddy. I still tear up thinking about that.
So the other day I was concerned about how my daughter would feel if she knew I was reading her myspace blog. So when she called last night, I confessed and she was thrilled, absolutely delighted! In fact, she urged me to put up my own space and use it to look for friends in my local area.
Which I did and then browsed current users and discovered another pagan just up the road from me. So wow, that’s cool. I sent a message to her but haven’t heard back yet…
Anyway, this is a whole new hobby. I’ve got to figure out how to decorate my space — choose colors, fonts and sizes, upload backgrounds, music, etc.
I know, I know, it’s owned by Rupert Murdock but it’s free and it gives me something else to think about besides how depressed I am.
I’m really happy to hear that. It’s like I said, it sounds like you two have a great realationship.
She paid me a tribute on her blog and told her readers how I gave her tips on giving blow jobs when she was sixteen. She’ll link to me and that’s sure to impress the local women I’m hoping to befriend. heh.
LOL. I don’t think you can be more open than that. 🙂
ROTFLMAO!!!!! I love it.
Sounds like fun. Can we read it too? 🙂
How are the birds?
Here’s the link: http://myspace.com/sjct Hell, a lot of you folks have read “My Night with Jim Morrison” so it’s not like I’ve got anything to hide here. LOL!
For the chicks, check out my photo album:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a150/sjct/Chicks/
I’m going to add some more images today showing the whole coop and yard.
Odd Chick is really looking hysterical these days. Now that her feathers have fluffed out she looks like she’s wearing puffy pantaloons and big fluffy bedroom slippers. We’re now thinking she’s a Silver Laced Cochin.
And those McMurray folks sent us two free birds. The other is a Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster and he’s the dominant bird in the flock. The Partridge Rocks plummage is really gorgeous; I love the Egyptian eyeliner effect around their eyes, too.
I think that is a silver laced Cochin. She’s cute!
Not local, but it’s a radio station with a live stream.
Morning, all! Cool and overcast still here today, after those storms moved through late last night… nothing dramatic, just thunder and steady rain, though Chris said there was one big one that scared him. I was sleeping through it, damn! Everything in the garden was looking perky today, even those poor coneflowers and such that I dug up Sunday to give away to people. Now, as long as it dries out a bit before the weekend, we’ll have more stuff to get in the ground, but those seeds I planted last night should have gotten a good soaking to get them going.
Better get down to business here in the cube… so have a great day Andi, Olivia, FM, SN, CG, sjct, Kansas, RF and all! (Hope I didn’t miss anyone, I did a quick read through!)
Catch you all later!
Hey there!!!!!
is starting to stir….kindof. Will put up a new cafe shortly.
Morning, All! (anybody still around?)
Morning MM. How’s the day going so far?
Just barely out of the sack, FM! Fed the birds and the dogs and did my little yoga stretch routine and made my tea! How are things in your neck of the woods?
So far snake free. 🙂 I’ve almost got this itunes and generic mp3 player figured out, and once it gets loaded, it’s out to do the weedeating and hopefully get the carport clean out.
I don’t know where this energy is coming from, but it’s interfering with my slackatude.
Just go with the flow, FM! Sounds like your activity level is still well within the boundaries of puttering-around, so your status as Guru of Slack is safe. Just be careful out there! It’s a crazy world!
Howdy!!!!
I’m more oblong than round.
How’s the world of decision-making going?
LOL, AndiF! Now I have a very clear picture of you in my mind!
Decision making is moving along. I left a message for my wannabee new boss yesterday, but he didn’t call back. Maybe he changed his mind? My plan is still to tell him that I would like to accept the position, giving a start date that is two weeks out. I also need to check with him on how he plans to configure my 30 hours a week to make sure it’s similar to what’s in my mind. I just had a conversation with a friend who interviewed with him some years ago, and she thought he was wierd.
How’s Tuesday treating you so far?
Did you find him weird? And what kind of weird did she think he was — I think a lot of weird people quite good and often fun to be around; I just find that I sometimes have to do some calibrating of my weirdness to accommodate theirs.
I thought he was a little wierd, and not my kindova guy, really. But I’ve worked with hundreds who weren’t quite my kind of people, and got along just fine. I think my friend and I generally have a pretty similar take on wierd, so I think I know what she’s talking about. Not kinky wierd, just maybe a bit of a bubble boy.
to the new cafe.
