who’s one of my favorite guitarists, as is Jim Hall, who was/is a great influence to PM, simply entitled, Jim Hall & Pat Metheney c. 2001 Telarc…very, very good IMNSHO, and highly recommended.

I really like Elinor Lipman. I think she’s almost as good as the late and much missed Laurie Colwin.
I especially liked this one. I thought My Latest Grievance was perfect in every way.

I asked this in the last cafe but you didn’t ever come back: what’s a falling pelvic floor?
I actually don’t know much about it. It came up during an examination by a colorectal surgeon and he said I’ve got a “pelvic floor descending.”
It’s possible that it was caused by my problems with the “metformin effect.” But, I’ve had the symptoms he described for almost 20 years (but when I asked about the pain all the doctors said it was ‘gas’) And I’ve only taken metformin for a year.
So I’ve got appointments set up with a urogynecologist (first apt is a consultation next 2 are for tests.) This is their specialty and I hope to know more about it after talking to them.
I think it usually happens in pregnancy. But, I’ve never been pregnant, so maybe it has something to do with the fibroid tumors that I have had for 20 years or so??
I’m sure it’s not a very happy thing to have to go through a bunch of examinations and tests but if the symptoms of this are something you’ve experienced for a long time, maybe this will help finally resolve them.
Yes, it’ll be good to know and to do whatever needs to be done. I’m hoping that this can be the year I get everything cleaned up.
about how we were planning to have our septic field worked on this summer but I decided that was too tacky even for me. 😉

I thought that was from pregnancy too, but it sounds possible about the fibroids. My pelvic floor is actually in the the sub-basement now.
I just looked it up and large fibroids are indeed a culprit.

I almost forgot to gloat about CBtY’s lacrosse game today!
They won again, 16-5. And I’m sorry, but this time it was really fun watching them wipe the field up with the other team, because the game was in the uber-wealthy school district. You know, Range Rover territory…Bush voters who actually benefit from those stinkin’ tax cuts!
Do you take your camera and take pictures as the games?
I usually don’t because I want to watch the game. BUt since you’re the second person to mention that this week, I might have to rethink it.
Jim often goes to the kid’s basketball games, track and cross country meets and takes pictures. The kids love seeing them.
And I was thinking it would be fun for you to use the pics for some of your friday cafes.
Was this year’s level of success expected? (By that I mean, has the team been playing together for some time etc.)
Actually, we’re all kind of stunned at the fact that they’re undefeated. They’re doing WAY better than any of out teams in the other age divisions, too. Today’s game was expected to be the most competitive of the season, and even though the other team fought hard, they couldn’t keep up. By halftime, the score was 12-2.
BTW, some of the boys have been playing for 3 years, and some have just started this spring.

I was surprised that two of the girls wore shades of green. For the past 5 years all of the girls wore black. It was getting depressing.
Sometimes when I lay down and hold my breath I can still locate my hipbones.

What sucks is that I forgot I still had my camera set on macro and a bunch of them didn’t turn out. That one’s my favorite too and it’s blurry. That’s how I picture Colin though, laughing.

For some odd reason the schools around here don’t sponsor an after prom party like the ones back home do. They’re not sure what they’re doing, they may all end up at one house or another to sleep. All the parents who came to my house tonight were lecturing their kids about drinking (as in, not)and telling them to call when they figured out what they were doing. It was all so casual that if I didn’t trust my son so much I would have been worried.
Mr. Nature flies out to Orlando in the morning and my daughter is home from college and making us dinner tomorrow – and it’s always a treat when someone else cooks for me.
We didn’t have any school-sponsored after prom activities (actually it wasn’t called a prom either — it was the grad dance) but there were all kinds of unofficial ones.
Sounds like a pleasant day. I’m sure you’re also happy to have your daughter home. Is she home for the summer?

can’t you get a DSL w/ it? Mine rides on the fax line and costs $15us.mon…I use an independent ISP that’s local folks that I know. No conflict w/ fax, just have to install a filter. With your B you’d really like it, IMNSHO.

I burn them to CD’s when they get to a certain point…which is very arbitrary, and probably should be more organized. I never clear the memory card until I’ve backed up images, which sorta sets the schedule.
Essentials only…need a new cam bag, need a couple of lens hoods for the dig. and some white cotton gloves for handling negs…really have to get back to scanning…the backlog is building up significantly as I go thru stuff.
Not any big stuff…did that already…
I love bags … are you looking for a big one? The one I got w/ the Nikon holds the camera+lens, and 2 extra lenses. It’s a sling bag and it opens on the side so you can rest your camera on it etc. Here’s a link. It’s cool. I can fit all my goodies in there right now b/c I don’t have a lot of stuff. It comes w/ a weather shield too, which came in handy last w/e.
When do you use lens hoods?
LINK, or something sim. I don’t like back pack style bags, prefer the horizontal flap shoulder style…strictly a personal choice, but more accessible IMO, plus I like the extra pockets for filters, lens cloths, etc.
Always use a hood outside, and haven’t gotten any for the dig yet, plus I need a couple replacements for the film body lenses. I don’t normally like having direct sunlight hitting the lens unless it’s intentional and done for effect…again, a personal style/penchant.
I was going to ask you if you take both your dig and film cameras out at the same time? Do you use your film camera more?
Yes it is. I have two bags now, both becoming pretty worn. I normally only take 1 camera w/ me locally, but want a bag capable of carrying all the equip.
Currently using the film body more than the dig because I’m trying to use up some film; but trying to wean myself off it. That’s, I think, holding up progress, creatively and comfort wise, with the dig…old habits and loves are difficult to part with.

But I do know that you’ll never make the switch if you keep using the old camera — you’re always going to feel more comfortable w/ your ‘first love’ and if you’re comparing it’s not really fair to the dig right. You need to get that same feel for the new one … plus learn all it’s tricks and how it likes to be handled etc…

I was encouraged by the front page articles tonight when I logged in … let’s hope this isn’t just so much smoke being blown up into certain orifices by Leopold and some of these other sources. But #1 story on Yahoo tonight when I started the computer was on Cheney’s handwritten notes, so maybe someone, (them, we hope) is hurtling toward a precipice, set to fall like the WB anvil on a hurtling animal heading for the bottom of the gulch.
How’s everyone (anyone) doing tonight? I was dragged, somewhat against my will, to dinner at a place called Texas Roadhouse tonight for a confab w/Chris’ work pals. Great company, mediocre food, and ghastly TexASS “yee-ha!” ambience. I needed two 1800 margaritas to make it through that.

Was hoping at least you and dada or NDD would be around, since I snoozed a bit earlier after dinner and am not ready to go to bed just yet. It’s funny, because everyone else thought the food was wonderful and I thought it ok, but just mediocre. Everything there from the “Italian” salad dressing, the butter, to the steak sauce was sooo sweet I found it rather blecch. The steak was just ok, but a bit fatty for my tastes. The thing that really had me gagging was that there were purportedly 3 birthdays within 3 tables of us while we there, and they do this awful hokey thing of making the person get up on a wooden horse thingie and bounce up and down while people hoot and holler and stamp their feet. It was sure TexASS tacky, that’s for sure.
We did get up really early and had our stuff taken to the scrub day and back home by 9:30, then had some more coffee and went to Target for a while. Back home, we finished cleaning up the porch and set up the summer “Cabana Room Lounge” this afternoon, since it was drizzly and only made it to 52 (11 C) today. Not much improvement forecast for tomorrow, but I vow that I will get some plants in the ground, if I have to do it in small sessions and come back inside.
I gather that hockey land is not pretty, given what I read in previous cafe. Sorry O! Sorry dada!

Yeah — bummer on the hockey. I’ve been listening to the local radio station — they’ve got an all night ‘wake’ on right now, and people are wavering between pissed and despondent. It’ll likely go all night into next morning. The city is in a major funk. (And why am I listening to this …?)

Chocolate makes everything better. I think I’m about middle in the almost don’t care category but I flutter into the pissed and despondent areas when I think of certain instances that happened or when I heard the post-game media interviews etc.

Well I figure that it won’t work overnight. Directions say to take 3 caps/day for 60 days, then work down, so we’ll see how it goes. Can’t hurt. Chris’ mom also swears by the stuff and she has bad problems with her knees and leg joints.
