Hey, Hi There!
Isn’t the week over yet?
Just waiting for happy hour to get here…
What are you doing this weekend?
Beverages are chilling in the fridge…

Please recommend (and unrecommend the Cafe/Lounge from earlier)

May the 4’s be with you
Anybody seen any good movies or discovered any cool new music lately?
I’m enjoying the new James Hunter CD…
I saw a bad movie this week. Does that count?
You have to tell us what it was so the rest of us don’t make the same mistake! π
RV. Predictable, only occasionally amusing, basically a waste of Robin Williams’ talent.
The nine-year-old liked it though, so maybe it wasn’t a total failure.
Posting on borrowed wifi here, and mostly just passing through. At a women in science conference with Dr.Mc today. Home tomorrow. See y’all then.
Hope you’re both enjoying it!
Grandkidlets: reasons not to blog!
I’m about to bail from the blogs again for a while…this time for grandkidlets! We will be spending the next 3 days with just the grandkids! Fun, food, giggles, snuggles, and hugs. Unconditional love between grandparents and grandkids.
Seventh Generation – what we do and say each day should be done in consideration of the impact on the Seventh Generation. (Iroquis and Cherokee wisdom) The Seventh Generation for me is the great-grandchildren of the two adorable grandkidlets above. Giving love to each generation is one way to impact the next 150 years.
Share the love with someone today. Tell them they are special – tell them you love them – do it just because…and impact the world 7 generations from now.
Sending hugs and love and healing energy to all at the Frog Pond!
Hah!
What a pair of cuties, lucky SallyCat!
{{{{{{{SallyCat & cute grandkiddies}}}}}}}
I switched on you today – heh!
Thanks for the pootie picture!
Much welcome for later use. This is from a daily cat calendar that someone gave me for Christmas and my son fell in love with it. See you around the galaxy, SallyCat!
Awww Sally, they are so CUUUUUUUUTE!
Just two more reasons to continue to fight the good fight.
Sometimes we fight so hard and so long we miss the wonder right in front of us! But yes – they are the reasons we are fighting so hard!
They are snugglers – my favorite part! We’ll rent a couple of dvd’s (for post Exploratorium!) and 4 of us will pile on the sofa…like a pile of snuggly kittens. Hugs from sunrise to lights out – nothing better!
Beautiful grandkidlets! Hope you all have a ton-o-fun!
It’s Happy Hour somewhere…:{)
If you’re not familiar with Tony Furtado check this ’97 album out (my personal favorite)…I think you might like it:
I got to know him pretty well when he lived up here in the 90’s…I think he’s in Portland now, so DJ and others there should keep an eye out for him…very, very good live, likes to play small venues.
You’re getting my hooked … π
Very nice…
No Sniveling? That’s bullshit Jack! I live to snivel and I snivel to live.
They got “The Panda” and they’re gonna ‘waterboard’ him unless you pay the ransom…
clik pic for details (see #5)
Peace
Good heavens, that doesn’t look like fun at all.
It must feel something like being abducted by little green aliens.
Ok. I’m all better now. Everything is cool. They shot me full of Haldol, and I can see clearly now. Breath in. Breath out. Now about that ransom, I’m afraid I’m a little short this week. Looks like I’ll be short next week too. Probably forever. I was sure I’d have a growth spurt when I quit smoking. I’ll tell you what, It’s been 10 months and I haven’t grown an inch. Nothing. Well except for the belly, of course, that’s grown a little. Boo Hoo. Poor me. Oh crap, I’m sniveling again. Damn, damn, damn it all to hell.
Afternoon, All! I’m off to have lunch with a former supervisor and will see you when I get back!
Don’t tell the boss but I’m going home early today. Work’s caught up, I just have a couple of things to do, so why stick around?
Got big plans for the w/e?
Depends on what happens. If there’s rain in the forecast, I’m not sure if I’ll be doing much of anything. At some point though we need to get the deck cleaned up and the grill scrubbed out for the start of outdoor cooking season. Time’s running out before Memorial Day.
It gets so hot in the house during the summer that we will happily go out on the deck and grill rather than heat up the kitchen. Plus it’s pretty nice to just sit outside and decompress after a day at work and watch the sun go down.
Next weekend is Memorial Day, which is always when the Northwest Folklife Festival happens. Four days of acoustic and folk music from all over the world, dancing, singing, street performers, storytelling, good food, good fun. One of the vendors there does handmade children’s clothing and I can already tell you I’m going to have no way out of getting the Queen of the Universe a new twirly skirt and top to match. (I don’t much mind, they’re well made and nice to have for events when she wants to dress up pretty but we don’t have to be in our Sunday best.)
The Festival sounds like fun. Good luck w/ the deck clean up. π
Hola, o beautiful & talented pond-mates. Greetings on this absolutely miserable Catskills day: current temperature flirting (unsuccessfully) with 50 F, hard rain a-fallin’. The weather felines are indoors.
Hope everyone’s doing well & ready for a wonderful weekend.
Music: I’ve been listening to Duane Eddy & his Rebels. Amazing stuff: his first lp (’58) foretold both surf & psychedelia. Truly fabulous guitar, lots of luscious reverb & moody sax. Great stuff.
Movies? Only my very own life. Reviews pending ..
I’m currently gatherin’ up my gumption. Need to head down to ‘town’ for essentials. I wouldn’t go out in this mess otherwise.
rain for you too … good thing we’re all froggies. π
Yes indeed, Olivia! & if not, we’re in the process.
π
Speaking of froggies, springtime’s definitely arrived here, despite the apparent. ‘Bullfrog time’ down at the pond has passed; now we’re hearing the peepers. A lovely sound, if you know it — typical of warm June evenings.
Which makes these ‘ides of March’ temperatures utterly discouraging. I resent having to wear all this ‘spring thaw’ clothing as the apple trees bloom!
Did I mention that our ‘lows’ this week are predicted to dip into the 30s?
And I quote: WTF?
The only positive I can see, is that all the green things have just exploded this past week d/t the rain. Hope the peepers can keep warm! π
I hope so too!
Actually, I have the same hopes for me.
I’m steppin’ out now — back soon, I’m sure.
Funny, I was just listening to some Duane Eddy this morning. I tape a program of surf/rockabilly/twang and suchlike music every week, and this week one of the segments was themes from TV shows. The host played Duane Eddy doing the themes from Peter Gunn and Have Gun Will Travel. Cool stuff.
We finally replaced our E. Power Biggs Bach Toccata & Fugue/Preludes & Fugues LP with a CD. Lovely.
Way to leap into the 1980’s Andi. π
She is going to be thinking WE are SO uncool, SN…
Btw, should I put up a happy hour and random 10 diary? Or just edit this one?
Do you think anyone is awake? π
Um, I resemble that statement… π
Got your random 10 ready?
Uh…yeah…sure I do.
I’ll have to nap first though.
I guess I shouldn’t bring up any of my 60s replacment CDs.
I was just referring to the actual CD. I thought I was the last person on earth to switch to CDs, but you have me beat. Soon CDs will be obsolete too.
The problem is that we have switched but we have a shitload of LPs that we haven’t ever replaced and we’ve stopped listening to them because we’re too lazy to mess with a turntable (hell, we hardly ever mess with the CD player — we just play itunes through the stereo). We tried ripping from the LPs but the sound quality wasn’t good.
Just a quick stop in after going over the 1st draft of the cursed report. Looks like work is coming home with me again this weekend… at least for a few hours on Sunday, as I refuse to let it ruin my Saturday in the garden with trowel and weeds. More to go in and seeds to sow…
Sorry to hear that the water logged froggies are still inundated (umm… Andi, Olivia, WW), but I’m doing my best to channel the nice 82 and sunny here with light breeze your way! You know what they say about “May showers” … um, they make everything wet! But they also make lots of things spring out of the ground, so there is a happy side to it, right?
Are things going swimmingly up there in Prune Town, Olivia?
I’m just getting ready to ‘swim’ for home. Still overcast — some really neat cloud formations though. <gah>
See your later tonight (?) so you can regale me w/ tales of your fresh breezes and open windows … π
