Actually quite pleasant, since we dispatched former neighbor kid and girlfriend shortly after dinner (which was finished around 10:00…), enough time for me to take a nice hot shower, put clean sheets on the bed (dried outside in the breeze today) and clean up a bit before heading in here.
I didn’t get anything planted today, but I did give away a bunch of Echinaceas to a work friend, cleaned up the patio, rearranged and put shelves up there, vacuumed maple spinners (again!) and grilled for 4 people. Oh, and hung out with my sister and went grocery shopping, which if I hadn’t, there would have been two very very hungry dogs around here tonight (nary 1 C of food was left). All in all, an exhausting but good day.
Hey O, thanks for the email… I was a bit shocked at first when you said that, but now I’m just all shucks and flattered. I have to make a habit of getting over to your place more often (sorry about that!) That is one gorgeous columbine you have up there. I’d like to get one like that, but all we put in this year were the Alpine Blues and Cardinal reds (aquilegia canadiensis!)
thought of you earlier while I was browsing a Nativan American artisan shop at the mall. They were sellin’ smudge sticks of sage in all sizes. I thought about buying a few but remembered that I have enough to last for quite a while.
I have a ton of free time I am going to do some sleuthing to figure out when my real name became commonplace around here (not that I mind, doesn’t bother me at all). I find it amusing š
Hi IVG!!!!!! Please don’t arrest me for a BWDW–blogging while drinking wine
I love Smarties! Always have since I was a kid. Though ours are not packaged like that. They’re in little cellophane rolls so you can see the luscious artificial colors.
I’d award you a gold medal and a free case of the wine of your choice!
As to the name… at first I thought it odd, till I just pronounced it, and it made perfect sense… then reading your blog, I quickly picked up on what it was (confirmed my hunch). If you like, I can call you Señor Eegee or San Eegee de Tucson or whatever you like. Hehe š
Btw, San Judas will be burning for around a week or so… after reading that story you linked to earlier, I may have to make this a regular thing.
name does me “God is with us” (I hear that groan maryb)
š
Yeah, scary shit, but we’ll get through it. I was reading an interesting article earlier this week that mentioned that Tucson is the longest inhabited place in the continental U.S. I’ll find a link when my brain is more…..clear.
but I almost had the luck of the draw to be born in the front seat of a vintage Buick Riviera. (blow-out on the way to the hospital) luckily my dad spent a few years in the pit crew of a sprint car team and had the tire fixed in record time.
I guess when I was in grade school and it was pioneer days(crossing the prarie)..I should have said “hey vatos, what are you doing in cold New England when it 80 degress here in Tucson.
Turned out to be guest(S), but they brought their own meat to grill and fresh strawberries. It was actually quite pleasant since we made it clear this wasn’t to be an all night movie fest (neither C nor I could have stayed up for that). I must have bitched a bit hard this morning (I was very grumpy about it), because he really is a very nice kid for almost 21… though he expects us to make him his first martini on his birthday. Which we will do on the condition that he stay at his mom’s that night (she’s the neighbor behind us, so he can walk there).
He’s fun in small doses (e.g. 1-3 hrs) but after that, I start climbing the walls, lol. Cranky neo-geezer that I am, hehe.
Thx, NDD… not that I ever doubted you two. But I did see it as I read through quickly and was about to post when Mary put up the new lounge (bless her lil ole heart).
here for the night! You can’t believe what a pit the patio was… toward the end of last summer/fall, all sorts of stuff just got pitched there, waiting all winter to be cleaned up. Well it’s clean now and quite comfy for a mere piece of concrete behind the house, lol.
I hope your rain takes a hike soon, so you and the kitties can go hiking for real.
Also talked for the first time to the new neighbor next door (the ones we were so apprehensive about) and though she seemed a bit on the um, “coarse” side, she seemed nice and actually likes to garden a bit. So we may be ok after all… still reserving the 8 ft privacy fence option though. Hehe.
Well, sleep well, Déesse des bois! Catch you soon…
I’m still saving some Woodford Reserve for you when you’re ready… just say when. (unless I drink it all first, hehe… but planning on being judicious with it)
Something to brighten the place up. Today I finally transferred some of the photo files from my “old” computer via the ever-so-quaint Zip drive technology. This is from my Farmer’s Market period.
Just got home from the wedding. Are wedding boring, or is it just me?
Cute, Manee! Make fun of my clumsy fingers, why don’t you? LOL! And I was the designated driver and didn’t even get to enjoy the open bar. So no excuse for being unable to type….
Has everyone been behaving themselves in my absence?
Hey there MM! Yeah, I always cry at weddings… never fails… because they bore me to tears! Especially the stand up/sit down/stand up/pray incomprehensible prayer, stand up/sit down, oh fuck it, Catholic weddings!
I’m quite fine with a nice sipping tequila. We just got another bottle of Husson this week… familiar with that? comes in what looks like a “moonshine” bottle… quite tasty stuff, but a bit pricey.
decorum… I do like slammin them on occasion, but if I got out of hand I might end up dancing on the bar in big shoes à la Pee Wee Herman, and that would not be fitting to a man of my gravitas. (And if you believe that, I have some lovely Manhattan real estate I’d like to buy from you for a few blankets and baubles.)
I don’t think you have been to a Catholic wedding until you done it Latino style. It begins with a Saturday breakfeast at 8:00 a.m. and ends somtime around 1:30 a.m at the end of a dance. And don’t forget the 1 1/2 mass somewhere in between.
Have to admit, the only Catholic weddings I’ve been to were Italian Catholic weddings in the Chicago area. Kind of like a Sopranos family reunion. I recall being flabbergasted to shake hands with so many old Italian guys who were missing fingers… at least the liquor was good, free and plentiful!
Really? I must have been paying extra special attention in Spanish class that day… I just like the sound and look of it, and it’s such a long word for such a small creature. But then, I knew a colleague once who only knew about 5 words in French and her favorite was pamplemousse just because she liked the sound.
You have nothing to fear from me, Señor Eeegee … I may love the little critters, but we’re in no way related.
Ah, the fabled ferrocarril! I think I learned that first when playing Monopolio way back when I was a youngun (which wasn’t that long ago, just seems like it was).
If only we could think of some way to get that rain down here. I’ll show it the Hollywood sign! Honest! I’ll take it to the opening of An Inconvenient Truth, heck, I’ll even take it to Disneyland!
Don’t let her bully you there, MM… just look how many times she’s connived me into posting pink pics! It’s all part of a vast pink wing Canadian conspiracy I tell ya!
She is devious in her ways, no? Btw, I was telling C about your huge jade tonight and he was very envious (as was I) … ours are such puny specimens by comparison, but after all my patio cleaning and rearranging today, they now have a nice sunny shelf to spend the summer on. Ah, now we’ll be down to about only 2 indoor plants that have to be watered now… the rest are outside or on the porch at this point.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You wouldn’t believe what jade does around here. I’ve come just this close to calling the jade police!
I wish you would come out here and help me plant some beautiful flowers, though… IVG. Last night I saw an ad for these things called “flower strips” that you just roll out and water and then end up with flowers coming out of your ears. Something for the ever so lazy gardener like me.
Hop on in!
How was your evening?
Actually quite pleasant, since we dispatched former neighbor kid and girlfriend shortly after dinner (which was finished around 10:00…), enough time for me to take a nice hot shower, put clean sheets on the bed (dried outside in the breeze today) and clean up a bit before heading in here.

I’m exhausted hearing about it. Or maybe I’m just exhausted š
š

I’d like to get one like that, but all we put in this year were the Alpine Blues and Cardinal reds (aquilegia canadiensis!)
Didn’t want to be talking about you and not have you know … š
Well as Oscar Wilde said, “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about!”
thought of you earlier while I was browsing a Nativan American artisan shop at the mall. They were sellin’ smudge sticks of sage in all sizes. I thought about buying a few but remembered that I have enough to last for quite a while.
I’ve never seen any for sale…I’ll have to keep an eye out as the plants are looking real iffy.
can find those at the swap meets (not that I would know)
Appears I missed pirate night… damn and I almost caught a parrot flying through the yard today! That would have been a yappy addition to the lounge.
How’s everyone doing? Mary, Olivia, WW, NDD, dada, Manny and Kidspeak (if she’s still here)… I survived a long day of hard labor, but it was worth it.
I have a ton of free time I am going to do some sleuthing to figure out when my real name became commonplace around here (not that I mind, doesn’t bother me at all). I find it amusing š
Hi IVG!!!!!! Please don’t arrest me for a BWDW–blogging while drinking wine
Me too. Wonder why people use my real name?
for you
it’s always nice to be appreciated for my intellectual abilities. But really, a gift was unnecessary.
liked receiving unknown drinks, er, gifts.
go ahead
shower me with gifts š
been sailing the open seas all evening
It’s a mystery mixture.
down there?

YOU born in a manger too?
but I almost had the luck of the draw to be born in the front seat of a vintage Buick Riviera. (blow-out on the way to the hospital) luckily my dad spent a few years in the pit crew of a sprint car team and had the tire fixed in record time.

only if it’s October. hola a4l, howz yer saturday treating you?
pretty well…I’m just checking to see if the Earth still spins around the sun. Actually just got back from crossing the praire..
as far as I can tell George is still in ownership of the White House so the universe remains out-of-balance.
I think that the earth’s magnetic poles may be shifting into their 180 degree rotation cycle.
that many years ago and wondered if perhaps we were in the middle of that change, thanks for adding to my “things to ponder” file, NDD! š
NDD is that because under W he has promoted sucking as much oil as possible out the ground?
I do have my own theory on earthquakes being caused by vibrations in the earth generated from Iraq bombings.
Haven’t seen anyone else so far speculating on that one.
But there was some under the ocean seismographic testing by oil companies prior to the big tsunami.
I’ll try to retrain myself…:{)
about it. I’m just displaying some type-A personality traits at the moment and wondering where it started. I’m sure it was the cafe (go figure) š
How’d your evening go? Weren’t you expecting a dinner guest?
Turned out to be guest(S), but they brought their own meat to grill and fresh strawberries. ONE SMART COOKIE as they say in there here parts.
He came up w/ warbler.
of miss O…a contemporary Dr. Watson…:{)
Right? š
what if I beg … please, please, please … ?
… but I think he made some valid remark about the darkness around the eyes and the markings. Which were key in IDing. š
to the register of
ONE SMART COOKIE
here in ND, of which I am the reigning secretary.
And more nbly, does it contain any chocolate? š
here
And should I be offended it’s a weight loss site? š
google for “one smart cookie”… I didn’t really pay that much attention to what the site was about.
You could be a Canadian version of Twiggy for all I know, ha!
I am a very healthy specimen.
… and bring you some beer … just ’cause I know you had a long day. š
my image of you is forever shattered.
Good evening, IVG! Sounds like you had an amazingly productive day and dispatched with the kid in due time. Good for you!
It’s been a mellow day here, watching the sun peek in & out between the raindrops, hiking around in the woods.
Time for bed now, alas. Hope to see y’all soon!
reminds me of my N CA days. Sleep well WW, and good luck with the project.
Thanks. Always appreciate your support & help, as you know.
here for the night! You can’t believe what a pit the patio was… toward the end of last summer/fall, all sorts of stuff just got pitched there, waiting all winter to be cleaned up. Well it’s clean now and quite comfy for a mere piece of concrete behind the house, lol.

Well, sleep well, Déesse des bois! Catch you soon…
Yes. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
A bientot!
Thank you, dada.
I guess the pineapple shelled-drink will have to wait for another time. [sniff]
sleep well.
I’m still saving some Woodford Reserve for you when you’re ready… just say when. (unless I drink it all first, hehe… but planning on being judicious with it)
Catch you soon, o belle de Saint Louis….
See you soon, o supreme hostess!
Something to brighten the place up. Today I finally transferred some of the photo files from my “old” computer via the ever-so-quaint Zip drive technology. This is from my Farmer’s Market period.
Just got home from the wedding. Are wedding boring, or is it just me?
great pic. Weddings are only boring when there isn’t an open bar, imo heehee
Cute, Manee! Make fun of my clumsy fingers, why don’t you? LOL! And I was the designated driver and didn’t even get to enjoy the open bar. So no excuse for being unable to type….
Has everyone been behaving themselves in my absence?
so maybe the universe is in balance after all.
This is way too deep for me, Manee! Fairly dripping with hidden meanings…. š
that’s dripping at the moment are the ice shavings from the bar glasses in the freezer. Gotta present the drinks in proper fashion.
I’m gonna trust you for that, Mannee. I’m awarding myself a nice mellow brandy as a reward for good behavior.
Well at least I was discreet and merely silently corrected the offending “t” hehe.
See?
Hey there MM! Yeah, I always cry at weddings… never fails… because they bore me to tears! Especially the stand up/sit down/stand up/pray incomprehensible prayer, stand up/sit down, oh fuck it, Catholic weddings!
our exercise somehow! Even the Barnes and Noble has an escalator now. (witnessed first-hand this evening)
I thought it was just me. Really, it was a lovely wedding, but thinking about the expense always makes me cringe.
Glad to see that you are holding down the fort, IVG, esp after your super-busy day!
but I think it’s the fort that is holding ME up at this point, lol!
It’s barely 10:57 here! I’m still pondering a trip to the watering hole down the street. O:–)
you musta slept later than I did this am…woke up waaaay too early after being here till 3…draggin’ a bit tonight.
Picking up or dropping off? LOL (that’s a line from Ghostbusters…)
Do they make good margaritas there? If so, I’d be hoofin on down the street with ya. It is margarita season ya know! At least around here it is…
could hunt down a decent bartender. Most tucsonans prefer their tequila pure tho, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. (my favorite is Sauza Hornitos) lol
Every day is margarita season..we are talking about a drink right??
I’m quite fine with a nice sipping tequila. We just got another bottle of Husson this week… familiar with that? comes in what looks like a “moonshine” bottle… quite tasty stuff, but a bit pricey.
tequila “sipping” you speak of? š
(haven’t tried it, if I’m going top-shelf it’s Patron)
decorum… I do like slammin them on occasion, but if I got out of hand I might end up dancing on the bar in big shoes à la Pee Wee Herman, and that would not be fitting to a man of my gravitas. The only one I’ve been to is the opening scene of “The Godfather.” Does that count?
do La Marcha de Zacatecas? That is by far the highlight of my family weddings’ receptions.
Actually I prefer La Marcha de los murciélagos, myself.
time you’ve sent me to google for that word. I’ll make sure to wear a turtleneck if we ever meet š
Really? I must have been paying extra special attention in Spanish class that day… I just like the sound and look of it, and it’s such a long word for such a small creature. words in español are ferrocarril and refrigerador. Phrases, hmmmm, prolly Buen provecho. Somethin’ soothing about hearing it at a good meal.
Ah, the fabled ferrocarril! I think I learned that first when playing Monopolio way back when I was a youngun (which wasn’t that long ago, just seems like it was).
Well for fun, you can try to bribe the band to play the song “you can have her she’s to fat for me”
best. laugh. of. the. day.
What lovely pink goodness you’re bringing us. š
You always have to bring up the pink thing, don’t you? Pink-Party Pooper! š
I can’t be faulted for merely pointing out the pinkness, when I’m not the one posting them right? š
Don’t even think about it! I’m onto you now!
Still raining in your neck of the woods?
We’re going to float away soon. I went outside to look around the garden tonight, and the lawn feels like a big wet sponge.
If only we could think of some way to get that rain down here. I’ll show it the Hollywood sign! Honest! I’ll take it to the opening of An Inconvenient Truth, heck, I’ll even take it to Disneyland!

You two are the pink posters. Should I not make mention of the colour? š
Now now, let’s not go googling “pink porn” because I shudder utterly to think of what that might produce!
But maybe we ought to call a Code Pink on this…. LOL!
the wine bottle is almost empty, I guess it’s time to break out the hookah. be right back.
do you really own a hookah and is that legal in AZ?
are not yet and yes š
Why don’t you all pick up your drinks and mosey on over to the hookah lounge for some after-hours frivolity.
