I was trying to be a good boy while I was still at work. But I tell ya, Izzy… the combo of BunBoy, restaurant and motel was very tempting! You can pick em, can’t ya babe?
But it seemed fun at the time, and I was just being circumspect. But honestly, who in the hell focuses on the bun rather than what’s in it? Sounds pretty gay to me, as Cartman would say….
No worries, IVG. In fact, I’ll let you in on something if you promise not to tell — I’ve secretly been dragging you guys through my childhood week by week. It’s a nice way to work out my issues!
LOL…lots of days are high stress and lots of work…just today wasn’t. Actually, I also lucked out and work for a small firm and my workload is pretty easy and my bosses are cool.
I’m thinking of Mary Janes this week. BTW, backpacks?!? Do you not know me at all?!? The obvious next step is hats. Not that we have to worry about that for a good, long while.
I was looking for casual ones and all the cute ones have things between the toes and I don’t like that. Not enough to pay real shoes prices. I’ll wear rubber pool flip flops but that’s about it.
but that’s coming from someone who owned multiple pairs of the black leather 80’s edition, which I wore into the ground, duct taped and patched until they disintegrated into a smelly mess of goo… so take that as you will.
Hey there Kansas! Nice to see you up late for a switch! Hot down your way too?
lol! Do you know, I actually thought of him as I stood there craving them? I thought about how my orange flip flops had impressed him. Did I really want to give up that color advantage?
So I can play a plaintive Russian/Gypsy whine song, lol. At least this is supposed to cool down here tomorrow, so I’m still avoiding the AC. Hey, are you planning on coming to the Oct 7 EVENT??? I’m more solid every day on doing that, and now we just have to convince Olivia that she’s an honorary midwesterner to get her down there too… she’s already with us in heart and spirit, so we just have to work on her physical corpus, hehe.
I know…I grew up in New York with shorter, but seriously hot and muggy summers. I don’t miss them. :>)
But. I find it funny that now, 75 seems like a f’n inferno. They say that the Bay Area will be the hardest hit from global warming, just because we are so darn spoiled.
I saw those and laughed heartily. I’ll have to take a pic of my red ones… I can’t find the really cool colors anymore. I used to have orange ones and purple ones and aqua ones, and of course the classic black… but they’re not as easy to find these days and much more expensive than back in my punker days when they were ‘chic.’
My son is backpacking arounnd Yurp, and last week he was in Paris. A couple of nights ago he was robbed, at an ATM, at knifepoint, in Nice. I’ll tell him it could have been worse–they could have got his shoes! (He’s fine and having a fabulous time, regardless. He wisely handed over the $ and the robbers split.)
Ouch…scary. But the nice thing about Europeans is they are not so dang violent as Murkins. I’m glad he got off with just loosing a bit of money.
I was just pissed, because they could have bought them in the states and I really needed them, though I also had a pair of turquoise ones that I was wearing, so it worked out ok.
That is so cool though about your son. My year in Paris and backpaking through Europe was the most important life changing experience I had as a young adult.
I can’t possibly go to bed before answering this. I think it’s a life-changing experience for him, too. My similar trip was for me, that’s for sure. And he loooovved Paris. Loved it so much. So far they’ve been to Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastion, Paris, Marseilles, and Nice, and they plan on being in Munich by the 9th for World Cup festivities. Then back on the road again. It makes me very very happy that he’s so happy.
I was in Munich for the World Cup, though I didn’t know it ahead of time. It was a truly amazing experience! Parties on the streets all night. The funny thing about Munich, at least when I was there, was they have arcane drinking laws and the last place you could get a beer at night was McDonald’s. McBeer is bad. Tell him to stay away from McBeer! :>)
Later than me, that’s for sure… yeah, I had my punker days back from about 1979-87, until I got serious about getting out of grad school. Suffice to say I was a henna freak (strawberry blonde, orange, you name it) and had the cutest little tail in the back.
Then I discovered speed metal and hardcore punk. That changed me a bit. But some of my fondest memories of Madison included getting drunk with Killdozer and seeing the Violent Femmes play in friends’ basements after hours.
Those were fun times I couldn’t replicate, even with a functional time machine….
Well, one of my big regrets of that era in my life was never seeing the DK’s, though I loved em. I morphed into a a weird dude towards the end of that time as I got into Mekons, Mission of Burma and some other stuff. One particularly revolting show I did leave though (and this is a potent memory) was G G Allin and the Scumfucks. When I heard he committed suicide, I wasn’t sorry, given the antics I saw (and paid $5 for!) at one of his shows. Don’t know what got into me in those days, but I gave pretty much anything a chance, lol!
I’m totally jealous! To this day, the Femmes are one of my favorite bands and I include them on my list of all-time great live performers. I’ve seen them a ton of times and, in fact, just got a concert dvd for my birthday.
G’night, night frogs. I’m putting on a small bday party for my mom’s 90th tomorrow and I need to get some sleep so there aren’t two of us who feel 90 years old.
till the verbal carpet bombing begins! I may even manage to convince C we need a weekend away in Chicago! Maybe I should mention the Shedd Aquarium…. that might work.
you’ve obviously formed an alliance with the FSM and sent storms my way this evening. Flickering light action is not nearly as exciting as a strobe light.
Manny, amigo mío, tell that FSM to send rain my way… I have thirsty plants waiting for it. And as you can see, I was lazy and didn’t water tonight… and I may pay for that later.
Hi folks!!!! I am still trying to get things ready for my departure tomorrow morning for the State Convention. I have to deliver teh dogs to the boarder at 7:15 and be ready to leave at 9 am. LOL I have some laundry washing now and will pack later tonight or first thing in the am. I have decided to take my coffee maker with me as I wake up so early and can make coffee in my room cheaper than buying it at the hotel. LOL
You mean you’re going to a hotel that doesn’t have coffee makers in the room? Buddy, you are livin in the land of the deprived! I’m sorry the diva dogs will have to be boarded… that’s not fun for them, as Pepa can tell you (but she hasn’t been boarded since 1997).
Well don’t let me interrupt your dervish whirl, and have a great time at the convention! I’m shocked, shocked I say! to see you up this late!
Ah, that’s better. Lots of room.
You must be tired, pulling double duty today. All that travel between LA and Vegas?
Yes, it’s been quite a day! I didn’t even bother fighting off the aspersions cast at Bun Boy.
I was trying to be a good boy while I was still at work. But I tell ya, Izzy… the combo of BunBoy, restaurant and motel was very tempting! You can pick em, can’t ya babe?
Et tu, IVG?
But it seemed fun at the time, and I was just being circumspect. But honestly, who in the hell focuses on the bun rather than what’s in it? Sounds pretty gay to me, as Cartman would say….
No worries, IVG. In fact, I’ll let you in on something if you promise not to tell — I’ve secretly been dragging you guys through my childhood week by week. It’s a nice way to work out my issues!
New Home, Yeah! Hi all. Had a nice mellow day today, not too much stress, reading a good book, and getting paid for it! :>)
you’ve got there, K. If only I could get paid for blogging, I’d be a googolplexiannaire.
I need to put on the tinfoil hat again to prevent mindmeld in the cafe.
you have such good taste in tinfoil hats 🙂
maryb, you’re so nice, I could just pinch yur cheeks!
But it’s easy to be nice around you
I do tend to reach into a person’s soul and bring out the best in them.
such good taste in art …
Maryb backs away quickly, pressing her hands to her cheeks.
You aren’t using us as characters in your new novel are you?
Heh heh. You’ll never recognize yourselves.
met Michael Kahn? St. Louis mystery writer?
I don’t know him. Is his real name Armando?
I wonder if she writes Romance novels under a pseudonym.
you’re sooo romantic …
I heard she’s been writing as “Armando.”
good there K…how can I get a gig like that?
LOL…lots of days are high stress and lots of work…just today wasn’t. Actually, I also lucked out and work for a small firm and my workload is pretty easy and my bosses are cool.
Finally getting over from the last cafe … and I just want to tell you that I love your drunken, debauchery stories … 😉
Thanks Olivia. I can’t wait to hear one of yours! <wink, wink, nudge, hudge).<p>
I still owe you two guys, a motorcycle and a ditch. :>)
… and a pond … But not tonight … 😉
I’ll remember that O! Your time will come. :>)
a pond…A loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and…
Go on, you can’t stop now…:{)
… Mr Anticipation … 😛
Do you like these better than the Chucks?
sudden, uncontrollable urge to devour a Wonka Bar now.
Oh, man!!! Those are da bomb! Carmen Miranda lives.
I’m thinking of Mary Janes this week. BTW, backpacks?!? Do you not know me at all?!? The obvious next step is hats. Not that we have to worry about that for a good, long while.
I thought of hats, but then decided they don’t go with Chuckie’s. How wrong I was!
Damn, I’m going to miss Friday shoe blogging? And I never did find any new sandals.
That’s no good.
I was looking for casual ones and all the cute ones have things between the toes and I don’t like that. Not enough to pay real shoes prices. I’ll wear rubber pool flip flops but that’s about it.
I thought you were taking your laptop? Oh well, you’ll have to commandeer one on Friday.
I don’t really want to. and yet feel I should.
I’ll probably decide at the last minute. (and it will partly be decided by whether I’ll have to do any work (job work) while I’m there.)
but that’s coming from someone who owned multiple pairs of the black leather 80’s edition, which I wore into the ground, duct taped and patched until they disintegrated into a smelly mess of goo… so take that as you will.
Hey there Kansas! Nice to see you up late for a switch! Hot down your way too?
Hey, IvyGee! I never intended to stay up this late. And yeah, it’s hot down here.
I have new shoes! I found a cool pair of green flip flops today to replace my unwashably dirty orange ones.
OMG — Alex in Toulouse got to you!
lol! Do you know, I actually thought of him as I stood there craving them? I thought about how my orange flip flops had impressed him. Did I really want to give up that color advantage?
YES!! GIMME GREEN! WANT NOW!
I think I would like Chucks better too…then again, I am a tomboy.
Sheesh, I went out for my break today and it must have been 75 or 80. For this poor spoiled brat, that was like living in the desert! :>)
Oh, our hearts sweat for you, poor baby. Right, IVG? She had to endure a whole 75 degrees.
I keep saying I’m not, but nobody believes me. I am starting to doubt myself.
I am starting to doubt myself.
Good, good. You’re taking the first steps …
I know…I grew up in New York with shorter, but seriously hot and muggy summers. I don’t miss them. :>)
But. I find it funny that now, 75 seems like a f’n inferno. They say that the Bay Area will be the hardest hit from global warming, just because we are so darn spoiled.
… my current pair.
Just couldn’t resist, could you?
I saw those and laughed heartily. I’ll have to take a pic of my red ones… I can’t find the really cool colors anymore. I used to have orange ones and purple ones and aqua ones, and of course the classic black… but they’re not as easy to find these days and much more expensive than back in my punker days when they were ‘chic.’
I used to have a great lavender pair that were stolen by some american tourists while I was Paris. Sheesh.
My current pair is black and pink.
But, my daughter has flames on hers! I’m jealous, but they didn’t have my size.
My son is backpacking arounnd Yurp, and last week he was in Paris. A couple of nights ago he was robbed, at an ATM, at knifepoint, in Nice. Ew! I’ll tell him!
You had punker days? Do tell!
Later than me, that’s for sure… yeah, I had my punker days back from about 1979-87, until I got serious about getting out of grad school. Suffice to say I was a henna freak (strawberry blonde, orange, you name it) and had the cutest little tail in the back.

No way, now I am so jealous.
Sheesh, and I thought stage diving with Jello Biafra was cool. :>)

Sweet froggie dreams to you.
good to see you around today, kansas.
Thank you, ManE. (Yawn) Is Bud asleep? Me, too.
he’s been out for a couple of hours. He grunted at me earlier and went into the room to his bed.
Rest well, kansas… and give mom a heckuva day she’ll remember! (I’ve got some fireworks you can use if needed!)
Put Oct. 7 on your calendar, will ya? (Now Mary can’t say I’m not applying pressure….)
you learn well grasshopper
… maryb — IVG’s doing a great job … 😛
there’s three more months of it. 🙂
Better start looking at air fares.
till the verbal carpet bombing begins! I may even manage to convince C we need a weekend away in Chicago! Maybe I should mention the Shedd Aquarium…. that might work.
Guess you don’t want me to send him a sweet e-mail.
And since Manny’s so quiet I guess I wore him down 🙂
you’ve obviously formed an alliance with the FSM and sent storms my way this evening. Flickering light action is not nearly as exciting as a strobe light.
Manny, amigo mío, tell that FSM to send rain my way… I have thirsty plants waiting for it. And as you can see, I was lazy and didn’t water tonight… and I may pay for that later.
a good word, although we desperately need the deluge to stick around. How else will I get my foto fix of It?
but it is sweet of you to think so 🙂
Sorry, but I’m heading off to bed. But I’m sure we can talk more tomorrow 🙂
And for the record, you have endured without complaint longer than ej.
him and have more stamina. obviously. 🙂
Well, night, Mary! I gotta get rid of this dial up nonsense. Grumble, grumble…
You mean you haven’t really started yet? LOL
🙂
best seek shelter, eh?
🙂
I’m in a secure, undisclosed location…
And your little dog too! dada, you gotta do it… I’m counting on the kind of weberland to make his appearance.
Do you board them or have someone in.
Night Kansas. Have a lovely party!
You guys are the best. Thanks very much, and now I really am off to Chicago. I mean sleep.
LOL
Still as busy as ever I see — even at 2am LOL … 🙂 How do the Diva dogs like the boarder?
I used to travel w/ my coffee paraphernalia b/c no one could make it better or had the right stuff to do the job so I understand completely … 🙂
They are going to be at the vets and they love himn and his staff
You mean you’re going to a hotel that doesn’t have coffee makers in the room? Buddy, you are livin in the land of the deprived! I’m sorry the diva dogs will have to be boarded… that’s not fun for them, as Pepa can tell you (but she hasn’t been boarded since 1997).
Well don’t let me interrupt your dervish whirl, and have a great time at the convention! I’m shocked, shocked I say! to see you up this late!
Give em hell, my friend!
well the coffee makers in the room are tiny and they have shitty coffee. I am taking gourmet coffee and a 12 cup maker. LOL
I can only imagine how much coffee you drink to sustain your energy levels! Give ’em hell at the conference.
LOL!!!!
Night all. Gotta have a minimum of beauty rest! LOL.
I’m betting you need a lot less than I do at this point! But great to see you here tonight… we’ll have to compare punker dayze sometime… sleep well!
The new cafe is open!
