May the 4’s be with you
Always a good morning when I don’t have to work.
Morning Andi!! I have to say bug pictures what not what I was expecting on 4th of July. LOL
And good morning to you too, refinish – didn’t see you before posting.
Morning Ask!!!!
He’s a really pretty, cheerful green — makes him a good icon for a day off.
Okay. LOL I guess I am not a bug person. I usually step on them.
It is a beautiful photo just not a subject I would pick. LOL
Morning Refinish.
Morning familyman!!!!
What’s the high powered plans for today?
I am working on a new design right now and then will be attending several political functions today. LOL
Are you a robot or something? Just waking up in the morning has me thinking of a nap. I don’t see how you keep going all the time. π
ROTFLMAO!!!! I always feel like I have to do things because others might not. LOL Here is the latest deign.
I only do one thing Straight
LOL that’s a good one Refinish.
Thanks!!! I am planning on sending teh link to Stonewall Democrats and seeing if they will help promote it for me. I will give them a cut of the profits.
That’s also a very good idea.
Good morning, Andi.
Not having to work?
Looks like the window washing option is on today.
And a Happy 4th of July to you!
Working around the house doesn’t count as long as you take plenty of time to relax and enjoy the day away from the office.
Doesn’t count? Says who? See FM’s more reasoned response a lttle below π
Anyway, curly has alluded to the observation that men&housework looks sexy, wonder if that has implications.
Hah! She using the men doing housework is sexy line.
I always countered with women changing the oil is a turn on. π
Hmm – I’m told that playing along is the better option…
A very smart man. π
ask have I taught you nothing?
Dirty windows are cheap curtains. π
Morning, ask, refinish, Andi. Pouring delicious rain here. Perfect timing in terms of fireworks.
Is the rain noisy?
Actually, funny one, it is. We’ve had quite the damp fireworks show. Boom crackle boom.
We’re about to get some rain too. I’m hoping the weather gods are feeling kindly and make it a short one so I can get a bike ride in.
It’s raining enough here that I’m looking outside and discovering all the places where there are holes in my gutters.
Well at least that’s easily fixed — stopped looking at the gutters.
Not trying to toot my horn, but that almost sounds like an FM-ism. π
I’d have to close my eyes.
Hey! FM really has influenced us!
I feel proud for some reason. π
Good morning, kansas.
Wouldn’t mind some rain here as well; reduce the temperature and humidity. It’s already 78 deg.
Ah, here’s a forecast – hot, humid and possible thunder showers.
As Andi says, it’s not the heat, it’s the humanity.
Today’s forecast in the northeast: 88 degrees and 92 percent humanity.
88 & 92 – that sounds about right.
We’ll stay in most of the day, I think – not worrying too much about the humanity.
This is what we did about the humanity last year’s 4th.
If I may be as shallow as possible (somebody’s got to uphold the standard!)–Gloria Steinham still looks great. And showing her belly button!
Morning Kansas. I could have used you rain yesterday.
We fired fireworks last night and I had a bucket of water with us just incase.
How come I hated loud fireworks when I was a kid, and even a young woman, but I love them now? Diminished hearing? Diminished mental capacity?
Diminished hearing? Diminished mental capacity?
I’ve always found it worked for me. π
Morning kansas!!!
Hey, refinish, how you doin’? If you don’t mind, I’m borrowing two of your exclamation points today to give me some energy and enthusiasm to finish a painting job. I hope you won’t miss them?
!! (Thanks! I promise I’ll give them back, though they may be paint-spattered.)
π
LOL NO problem I have many to spare!!!!!
LOL, I was counting on that!!
Morning all.
I leave for a minute and the coffee cart is up and running and already starting to fill up. Geez. π
How is everyone today?
Is it already getting hot in ‘bama?
Not yet. We’re at 73F now, but today it’s supposed to get to 100F.
I plan to stay in most of the day and slack in wonderfully cool air conditioning.
OK, guys. Time to get breakfast going. Hope to see you a bit later.
See ya later ask. Have a good day scrubbing windows. π
Andi, refinish, FM, ask, kansas … and others.
Wishing you all a wonderful day … π
Morning Olivia.
You’re working today aren’t you?
Blech … One of the downsides about the long w/e is that you’re just getting used to sleeping in and goofing around all day and then just like that you have to go back to work again. π
Hah! One of the great things about being an honorary Cdn is I can celebrate Canada Day and the 4th.
Hope your work week starts and stays slackerly.
Hi, O. I like your beautiful emerald bug.
Thanks … you wouldn’t step on him then? LOL.
What have you got planned today?
Step on him! Heaven forefend. I live with bugs and spiders, preferring them to poison. Life offers strange choices, sometimes, lol.
Today I’m painting walls in my mom’s basement. I’m selling my house and moving in with her for a few months (I think) while she needs me to be there and while I need to figure out where to live next. So I’m creating a retreat for myself in her basement (half above ground, very cheerful and light, with a patio and a yard)so we don’t drive each other crazy. She has offered to bring in the bug exterminator. I tried not to look appalled. π
for the year. If I moved in with my mother, we would have a drag race to crazyland.
ROTFLMAO!!!! The Orkin man is my friend.
I’m like Andi — I think my mom and I would drive each other crazy! π
There was a time–most of the time–when that would have been true for us, too. But some weird miracle happened a few years ago that dissolved all hard feelings. Really. I’m still amazed by it. And it’s the only thing that makes this possible. Maybe some mothers and daughters just have to live long enough. π
I think you should just cruise at work today — you spend enough time here in U.S. that you should have the holiday off, too.
I was thinking that too … besides, my hubster is a dual cit … π The Ambassador is throwing a big party at the Embassy here today.
given the current state of the union but I’m always in a no-work mood.
Well, you can do a pre-celebration for November today.
That’s the spirit.
That’s what I enjoyed about it … Have fun not working today. Say hi to Jim too.
What the heck is wrong with kids today. My nephew is already awake and getting ready to go running.
At 13 I couldn’t be bother to wake up on a holiday until 1:00 or 2:00 pm. Actually it’s the same today, but I just space out the sleep. π
Gotta go and start getting breakfast ready.
See ya’ll later.
I need to get some breakfast and figure out timing for the rest of the day. If the weathers clears I might take my laptop and do some interviews. I hate to take it if it id raining.
I’m off as well … See ya!
I’m off, too. Happy day, y’all.
Why are all of you up so early and so damn cheerful and energetic? What are you on and can I have some?
I’m going to be trapped inside today by the heat and humidity and damn if Precious, the little Yorkie next door, didn’t just leave me a fresh package in the front yard. Grrrr.
I need and attitude adjustment before I’m fit for company.
You need to borrow some exclamation points from refinish, like I did. They do amazing things for the attitude. Now I feel like I can conquer the world. Oh, wait, that would make me a neo-con. Okay, I feel like I can conquer an unpainted wall.
Oh, and good morning, SN.
Aren’t I supposed to be gone by now?
Bye.
I’m a sleepyhead too, SN. You’re still here, right?
Hi CG. WAKE UPPPPP. π
Hi SN. Tell you what, I’ll lend you George. From the sounds of Precious, I think he can take her/him.
Plus I’m sure a little non-stop barking would liven thing up. π
I would love to see George take on Precious, and then take on Precious’s owner.
Current temp – 91.
It would be no problem with Precious or the owner.
George would have Precious running and the owner’s ankles would never look the same. π
Hi SN and FM. We have cloud cover so we’re only in the high seventies –but the humidity is so high we need gills.
What are you doing today? I’m going to a BBQ later this afternoon.
Hi Mary. I’m trying to make ice cream again, but I think I screwed up on the recipe, because it’s not icing up.
I read from last night were you said you had a bbq with the family. That sound like it will be nice.
maybe it’s just too hot for it to ice up? This is electric right? Not hand crank?
LOL do you think I would own a hand crank ice cream maker.
If I did, it would never get made. π
No, I didn’t really think you would hand crank π
My sister made us home made ice cream on Sunday — she had an attachment for her kitchaide mixer. I’d never seen one before. But it made great ice cream.
How did she get it to ice up? Did the attachment have a container that went into the freezer?
Yep, the container goes in the freezer first so it’s really cold (uh, frozen), then you put it on the stand, attach the paddles, pour in the mix and turn it on. Eventually it freezes up and you put it in a container and stick it in the freezer to get harder.
It was really good. She found a recipe for Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia and made it. We had homemade cherry pie with it. And some blueberries for those who didn’t want pie. Very red, white and blue π
Sounds really good. It sounds like the maker I have. Put the container in the freezer for 24 hours and go from there.
I just have to learn to follow recipes. π
I have to go make some dip for the party. I’ll be back in a while.
I’ve got to go too.
I’ll be checking back to throw up a new cafe if needed.
at least it only has six legs. Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a decent holiday. I’ll put up a new cafe in a few minutes via froggybottom then I’m heading here for a quiet day of hiking with my parents.
Manny, I feel like being masochistic today. How old are your parents? I have a horrible feeling they’re my age.
Now you”ve gone and done it Mrs. Robinson. Did you have to ruin it for me too?
Sorry, maryb – I’m in a mood today. Plus the pink background behind the bug looks like my pale-ass skin and it depresses me.
I understand, some days I’m feeling masochistic too. And I don’t care who else I take down with me π
They’re both 50.
Whew!
Yeah, they’re MUCH older than us!
They’re into their sixth decade. It sounds way older.
Yep.
I saved you some watermelon daquiri in the next cafe. It will make you feel better.
They’re not that old. π
to the Watermelon Bust, bring your spitoons.
