I offer my condolences to India for their tragic loss of life in the train bombings. Early reports speculate that the attacks were carried out by Kashmiri separatists (i.e., possible Pakistani sponsorship). There is also speculation that the blasts were coordinated by indigenous Muslim radicals. There are 150 million Muslims in India, but they are a minority. It is very possible that their community will be targeted for reprisals. There is also the danger that Indian and Pakistani relations will grow tense. They are both armed with nuclear weapons, so it is critical that the international community acts to ease tensions. It’s time for Condi Rice to earn her paycheck.
