My sister and I were sitting at the bar at the tres chic bar where my son works. There’s techno music blaring and very gorgeous young people packed in all around us looking very young and gorgeous. One guy yells to my son to fix him a martini “dry and dirty.” My sister leans in and yells in my ear (remember, loud techno music) “Hey, tell him WE’RE dry and dirty!”….just as the music stops for a microsecond.
No kidding. I went Goodwill Hunting today and just walking from my frigid car to the frigid store less than 20 feet away my face was dripping. All I want to do is sleep.
Just taking George outside is enough for me. I’ve got to do somemore lawn work tomorrow, and I’ve wondered if it would bother the neighbors if I started at 5:00 am.
I’m trying to lay around until my body is infused with the energy I need to unpack and do laundry. So far it’s not working. Apparently you have to expend energy in order to get energy.
I had a email from her last week and she’s not feeling very well but she does have a doctor’s appointment pretty soon so I hope there will be better news.
Oh… just about on the verge of WW3. I’ve seen more “Rapture” shit than I can care to talk about.
Global heating still isn’t being taken seriously. This might be due to my reading a great book and feeling more and more like we’ve failed the planet for so many years.
People are being rounded up for being being “of dark skin” or “possibly of a terrorist faith”. Or… in some areas for having a bumpersticker claims that Bush is a liar and killer.
More photos of dead children – actually on major papers… but it’s just too damn late.
We’re supposed to support anyone and everyone simply because.. they wear a uniform. Blech.
Sorry. I’m just too damn numb from trying to care too damn much. But I do hope you’re all having a good day.
I did three loads of laundry, deadheaded the roses, at least that’s what I think it’s called. And no one in the house is vomitting or otherwise feeling urpy.
This park is a short walk from where I lived most of my life and that bench up on the hill (you can barely see it above the lone tree) is where I used to sit and write and think and watch storms brew.
Actually I thought that was a female secret. Like when you’re both on the highway and she has to go, but she can hold it forever until you find the one place that looks clean enough. π
I’ve been lurking a bit this week, but mostly trying to stick to my new abstinance regime. I got a lot of work done, but it didn’t feel like much since I was catching up on a promise to help a friend who is doing a Gala Retrospective on the career of one of my former dance teachers. I spent a lot of time digging around in the garage and flipping through old journals to see what I could find to contribute. It was an interesting journey, and I also obtained a video from the UC Berkeley dance department of a dance she choreographed while I was a student there, so that was a trip down memory lane with bells on.
Now I’m at the Coast Long Beach Hotel, since my new employer had sent me all expenses paid to a three day conference down here. Long Beach is a kinda wierd place, it’s hard to describe it. I thought it would be fun to be by the ocean with my camera again, but it was just about as unlike Monterey as possible. For example, there was a Harley Davidson Convention pumping lots of boisterous and hectic vibes into the atmosphere.
But there’s always something beautiful to look at in between the major tourist attractions that are sandwiched in between major shipping operations.
And then there’s the…. Queen Mary…. parked just a few blocks from here.
I had the option of getting a room there, but after a glance at Trip Advisor, wiser councils prevailed. It’s rated #14 out of 31 hotels in Long Beach. Not to mention the fact that it’s haunted, thank you very much, no thank you! The one I opted for is #1, and it seems pretty cool so far. I will be bunking in with another staff member who is arriving tomorrow.
One thing, is it’s about 30 degrees cooler here. The San Fernando Valley has been beyond belief devilishly scorching. It’s always hot in the summer, but now the heat starts sooner and gets hotter and there’s more humidity added into it. Feels like the end of the world is coming, and the news from the Middle East isn’t helping any.
Aside from all that, I’ve been missing all my little froggie friends, so lots of love hugs and big sloppy kisses to all of you!
I have this memory of long beach — I was at a customer site and I went for a walk through a residential area and noticed that all the house that had signs that said that had security services and calls were answered by armed security.
Glad to hear your BT avoidance plan is working — it would have been bad if we were being deprived for nothing. π
Well… not totally working. Just a matter of decompressing to lurker status while resisting the urge to make comments!
Sorry things have been so hot for you and the critters. Not sure if you have AC or keep the doors closed to reduce the heat in general.
My mother doesn’t believe that global warming is upon us and I find it so convincing. She now has AC units in every single room, and I’m just wondering what it would take to convince her!
Hey, I would’ve bunked with you in some haunted digs. Sounds totally up my alley :0)
And call me kooky… I know most people despise seagulls… one shat on my brother’s arm as he was coming home from school with an award thrust up to the sky from his happy arm… plonk…
Anyways… I like seagulls… Yes even as I’m awaiting a ferry and trying to eat lunch and with them buzzing your head like some suicidal pilots. I still liike em.
Actually accomplished something today — cleared the second of the three pantry shelves, got rid of a lot of old crap. I can actually find stuff!
About all I’m up to doing; heading out to dinner in a bit — I actually had to change my shirt, it was drenched in sweat. Going to be just as hot tomorrow, so probably movie matinee (hoping An Inconvenient Truth is still on at the Camera 7) and early dinner.
FM — you seem to be deluged with relatives; ever thought of an unlisted address? lol
Olivia — just think of nice cold ice rinks; only about 10 weeks till Opening Night! π
DJ — how did the Ft. Lewis action go? You and your fellow CodePINKers were in my thoughts.
“PC exercises can also be beneficial in the “squirt across the room” department as well. Remember porn star Peter North? Well, rumor has it that he did his exercises daily. So not only can you have the most solid erection ever, but you might also be able to ejaculate on the ceiling. Have fun cleaning that up…”
now I don’t care about whether or not the towel lays on the floor after a shower… just as long as I know he was at one point “hanging” it. π
Seriously though.. Kegels are good. I was instructed to do them to strengthen control after having my son which was a horrid delivery… I tore BAD. I was only 5-6 cms when he arrivedd.
I was afraid the SPCA would get after us if we didn’t give him a break.
How are ya? Surviving the heat?
we’re barricaded indoors and the dogs have to sign an affidavit swearing that they really need to go out before we’ll open the door.
We’re melting … π
There’s nothing worse than a dried out frog.
Reminds me of a little story;
LOL I almost spit my water out.
did it get you a bunch of new friends?
Not many in that crowd were looking for dried out old on the verge of menopause women. But my son cracked up.
Sort of (really) blurry. It’s difficult to keep the camera still for a 10-second nighttime exposure.
The old girls go clubbing
The relatives are gone, the house is a wreck, and I’m worn out. BTW it’s hot!
How’s everybody.
happy to hear the relatives are gone — time to slack!
The next wave is due in tomorrow. No slacking for me. π
Hot and lethargic. The usual.
Same here SN.
40C/104F!
Woo hoo on the relatives’ departure … π
104 F? How are you standing it without AC?
nakedness and not moving … and fans. π
we just want to make sure the fans are to code.
Can’t take pix … to hot and that would require moving. π
Almost 8:00 PM and still over 90 degrees. When does autumn start?
Down here in Dec.
Well then, see you in December.
To bad we can’t hibernate during the summer.
However, I’m am trying.
Try it and you’ll find out. Probably no one could hear you anyway locked away in their air conditioned homes.
All unpacked and settled back in at home?
Will this help?
Ah yes.
I’m trying to lay around until my body is infused with the energy I need to unpack and do laundry. So far it’s not working. Apparently you have to expend energy in order to get energy.
yeah it’s the 2nd law of thermodynamics — nobody is dynamic when it’s too damn not.
There you go again – being smart. I thought I had hit upon something completely new but it seems someone beat me to it and actually made it a law.
EEK!!!!
Is anybody else having problems loading the page? It took me forever to just get this posted.
Your computer is hot too. Give it some sweet tea.
I just restarted and it’s still taking forever. It seem like all the ads and site meter are really slow loading. Don’t understand it.
I almost feel like I’m……on dial-up. π
I finally shut down everything and it’s back to normal. I think it was running slower than dial-up.
To repeat Andi – pictures. π
You want pictures of fans too? You guys are strange … π
Well I guess we are strange. Fan you say?
Yes — the pony express.
We’re very satisfied with our mail system down here, thank you very much. π
It’s going to take for ever to get that tube to you! π
LOL
Carrier pigeons on steriods. The only way. π
π
it was very, very close.
How’s she doing?
I had a email from her last week and she’s not feeling very well but she does have a doctor’s appointment pretty soon so I hope there will be better news.
Let’s see, what’s happening.
Oh… just about on the verge of WW3. I’ve seen more “Rapture” shit than I can care to talk about.
Global heating still isn’t being taken seriously. This might be due to my reading a great book and feeling more and more like we’ve failed the planet for so many years.

Sometimes there are no words …
Thanks Olivia. Sometimes I think there are just too many words.
Recent round of “news” has me quite “concerned”.
This park is a short walk from where I lived most of my life and that bench up on the hill (you can barely see it above the lone tree) is where I used to sit and write and think and watch storms brew.
great spot Second!
the kind of place you could sit for hours and read and watch the lake and people — if it weren’t so effing hot outside that you’d fry in five seconds.
The great thing about living so close to Lake Erie is that there’s always a breeze…even if it’s a hot one.
But, oh, the fall is so cool with dark clouds rushing by and the lake dark and riled up.
The dead air here is horrible — the only good thing is that with the air so still the creeks and lake provided great reflection shots.
Without a door it even has a view. π
Without a door it even has a view INSIDE! Yuck.
But, a nice place to read. However, we’ve got to get a fan in there someday. π
It must be quite a jaunt out there for Family Mom with her walker and all.
Actually she has held it for the last two years. She says she’ll wait for indoor plumbing.
Good girl. I’d be happy if I could just hold it through the night. Ask her for her secret.
Actually I thought that was a female secret. Like when you’re both on the highway and she has to go, but she can hold it forever until you find the one place that looks clean enough. π
If you had to sit down you’d hold out for a clean one too. You men are so lucky, just point and shoot.
Why do you think I miss snow so much.
Do you ever write your complete name in the snow, Courtney Beauregard?
Of course, but it all had to be cursive. That starting and stoping when you try and print isn’t fun.
sounds like you need to work on your Kegel exercises. π
Ooooook. π
You had to Google that one, didn’t ya? π
Actually no, knew about it. π
Hi Froggies!
I’ve been lurking a bit this week, but mostly trying to stick to my new abstinance regime. Hi MM. Been missing you too.
Seems like you’ve been having a busy week! Hope you are getting enough napping and slacking off in between the festivities!
MM you know me. I never get enough napping and slacking.
I just hope you are.
Not even close! LOL!
Neat pix! I love the one of the seagull – cool perspective. Nice to see you again! π
You, too! SN! Seagulls are unstoppable!
I have this memory of long beach — I was at a customer site and I went for a walk through a residential area and noticed that all the house that had signs that said that had security services and calls were answered by armed security.
Glad to hear your BT avoidance plan is working — it would have been bad if we were being deprived for nothing. π

But I like you even more MM π
Looks like I’m responding when the cafe is already closed, but that’s how the cookie crumbles!
I love seagulls, too, even though they are mere pigeons with wings, per Woody Allen or some such cynic.
So good to see ya … I saw that you were around last night (4ing) and I’m glad that you’re doing well w/ your new abstinence plan … π
xoxox’s to you too!
Hiya back! Though having gone out for a walk I see that the cafe has closed in my absence. What ever happened to my timing?
Actually accomplished something today — cleared the second of the three pantry shelves, got rid of a lot of old crap. I can actually find stuff!
About all I’m up to doing; heading out to dinner in a bit — I actually had to change my shirt, it was drenched in sweat. Going to be just as hot tomorrow, so probably movie matinee (hoping An Inconvenient Truth is still on at the Camera 7) and early dinner.

DJ — how did the Ft. Lewis action go? You and your fellow CodePINKers were in my thoughts.
Have a good evening, everyone…
Yes … thinking ice and snow and more ice … π We were just saying about 1/2 hr ago how we can’t wait ’til hockey starts again! π
Yeah, I could use some “JOE” time. π
I couldn’t go, Cali. :*( Kids were “urping”.
Thanks for thinking of Suzanne though. Saturday was her birthday.
Tried it one time Cali. They tracked me down.
Hey there are Kegel exercises for men, too.
Somehow… this just made me smile.. BIG π
I was thinking of Joe Thornton… wristshot, slapshot, snapshot…
OH any shot will do π
They want the media to refer to an OT game winning goal as skate-off goal. How stupid is that? Why do they keep trying to ruin the game.
ACK!!! A skate off?? What jerk off thought of that??
OH… Gary Buttman.. aka Prickasaurus Extreme.
shoot across the room
“PC exercises can also be beneficial in the “squirt across the room” department as well. Remember porn star Peter North? Well, rumor has it that he did his exercises daily. So not only can you have the most solid erection ever, but you might also be able to ejaculate on the ceiling. Have fun cleaning that up…”
I think I had the room after that guy at the Holiday Inn in Virginia Beach one year.
Wellll, the photo sure made me smile. As did the thought of holding a towel. I wonder if it’s a small towel or one of those big bath sheets?
An over-sized, wet beach blanket. π
Oh?
Wet bed spread maybe?
Made out of Down or heavy wool. π
What’s odd is that I don’t know many men who hang up towels but I guess now… we know what they do DO with em. π
now I don’t care about whether or not the towel lays on the floor after a shower… just as long as I know he was at one point “hanging” it. π
Seriously though.. Kegels are good. I was instructed to do them to strengthen control after having my son which was a horrid delivery… I tore BAD. I was only 5-6 cms when he arrivedd.
It was the sound of every man and childless woman leaving the Cafe. π
At only being 5-6 cms I bet it was a horrid delivery.
under 30 mins meaning no “stages of labor”. But.. I wasn’t even supposed to be able to have kids… so there. π
Okay you all can come back into the cafe. I’m through! π I swear! π
I’m symphatizing with you. I’ve been in delivery rooms before.
That explains why ours are always on the floor.
Just hanging them up to dry out. π
A QUILT! π
Amazing those Kegel exercises. π
Well there are other ways to work that muscle and keep up a good sweat. π
I’m going to run and open another happy hour.
Back in a minute.
Froggy Bottom Lounge Happy Hour II here
