Yup … here it was 99 outside and I was running the space heater all day and wearing long sleeves, per usual. I’m amazed I haven’t come down with something due to this insane refrigeration there.

Ohhh coconut ones?? I haven’t seen those. We get the pkg that has STRAWBERRY, RASPBERRY and LIME. They are really good! and better than munching out on cheetohs or something like that.
I know those exact ones you mean, and they DO rock! The coconut ones are a favorite memory from my misspent youth. You used to only be able to get them in Mexican stores. Oh, how I longed for them when I left LA.
Then, a few years ago, there they were at the grocery store! I practically started screaming like a game show winner. I forget what the brand is, but most stores have them.
I cried when I came back to the mainland and saw all the milk in the grocery store. I was preggers and had been living on Guam for two years. Where the milk is either that shelf life crap or frozen Aussie milk that if you buy it usually had a hole in the jug.
Also I remember a long time ago trying to explain almond roca to people… 🙂 Well it looks like cat shit rolled up in kitty litter… and it’s super great and I love it! 🙂
Oh sure, go on and on about popcicles that I can’t even get here! They have Icy-poles in Australia, but they’re not the same.

You can make your own you know. I make em for the kids. Can also make yogurt pops that way too. You can also use pudding… I use mostly leftover juices.

this is kinda cool cause it just requires wooden sticks. My kids chewed on the plastic type kinds.
I like to take left over coffee and add some creamer and voila!!! A neat frozen pick me up java addiction 🙂
I’ll have to try that. All kinds of juice makes good popcicles. Plus, Hawaiian Punch is almost like the red store ones. My favorite, though, are 7 Up ones.
raspberry lemonade is a good sicle, too, try that one!
The other day I had a itty bit of oranje juice and a smidgeon of guava pineapple juice… was recyling day and I was also out of room in the fridge. So made em into pops. Just added in more orange juice. Kids LOVED them.
I make adult raspberry lemonade too. Just add rum or tequila. Wowzers!
Try root beer and add a marachino cherry into it… it’s super fun for the kids. They like finding a small bit of fruit in em.. not that maraxhino cherries are actually “fruit” 🙂
Soon we’ll be two toning it. We’ll be bad ass mofos of the homemade popsicle posse. 🙂

This is a Disco Belle variety we have out front … doesn’t get as tall as the others but it makes up in quantity of blooms what it lacks in stature…
And they hold up very well in near 100 degree weather such as today’s … the heat index here is still over 100 at this hour… nuts!

I thought you’d especially like the pink shading on the petals … actually the Kopper King from earlier has that too, but I think the intense sun kind of bleached it out a bit in those earlier photos. I’ll keep trying for it.

Speaking of bees… there were TONS of them out when I was taking those pics earlier, along with the little wasps that love to frequent the sea holly (got a great shot of that tonight too, hehe). It was literally buzzing in the front garden!

I love the colour of the o flower. It appears lighter, almost a muted shade, in the photos. Is that close to real life?
Never seen this … checked your img and it says kale … cool. Where do you have it / with what other plants?
the ‘O’ flower is a muted pink, kind of powdery pink I guess … the pics are very close but just a bit washed out I think. I’ll keep more coming so you can decide for yourself.
I just discovered this variety of Kale this year… called “Peacock Red” and the pic on the stake showed that it turns red in the center when it “blooms” later on in the fall … they’re really fun plants and this one is doing really well despite all the heat and lack of water. If you look closely at this shot, you’ll see a sort of chartreuse color… that’s a green sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatta) … there are delphiniums also in the area as well as celosias and CA poppies… you just can’t see them at this angle…

I agree, that second one is absolutely amazing. White flies really suck (literally) and they’re hard to get rid of. You might try (if it’s in a close situation space wise) some of those sticky traps they sell in garden centers. But a good blasting with a nicotine sulfate spray should kill em, if you’re so inclined. Hate to resort to that stuff myself, but when desperate measures are called for ….

I did get the 3d effect to work on this last one, but it was difficult. I’m wondering if the angle on this particular one isn’t a tad too much, since it seems more difficult for me to put the effect together???

No I`m using my digital & don`t have adapters for anything on that camera, although I sometimes use a slr 50mm lens reversed against my lens & it doubles the size of the macro.

This is Sea Holly, Porcupine grass and coneflowers primarily in this view… Getting closer to getting that “blue haze” effect from the Sea Holly … though it’s on the waning end of its bloom cycle this year. It’s been spectacular though, even though it got beaten down last week in that storm…

How’s your week going despite the blogworld influence?
It’s been ok, but my boss has been in the hospital. He is 87, so every time he gets sick, we all worry. It was slow, but not without its frustrations. I think the boss is ok, so that is great.
he’s doin’ okay, we have similar fears with our big boss. He had a heart attack a couple of years ago and has us all nervous when he’s running around like a crazy person.

Monday night I took a hike around a wheat field just off the yard here to the east. Saw some wildlife and took some photos on the way. And my aching back has been bettrer ever since, so I think more hiking is in order.
I finished building steps to the back entry of the house, so that was the “big” accomplishment for the day.
Hey NDD and thanks. I so want to stay away from flame wars, but I also think that sometimes, some of us need to speak up. I need to back up people who speak up more, if even just a 4. just like water flowing downhill. High for the day was 84F, so not much suffering involved with that.
However, I’m noticing more and more changes in nature due to current drought. The main plants growing in the lawn are Canadian Thistle, yellow goats beard, and various wild other native prairie flowers/weeds? And the leaves are falling from some of the trees, especially the cottonwoods. So, we’ve got worms up there eating, and little grasshoppers are proliferating.
The bugs don’t like cold and rain, they get some sort of pneumonia. Well not this year.
The whole water flowing downhill anaology … 🙂

I’ve been more and more bummed here lately with the speed of the dialup. I thought it was crappy at 31.2K, but I haven’t seen that “high” a speed for a few weeks now. Tonight it’s running at 24K, for example.
I have got to do something different here, connection-wise, since it’s just getting to be a no-go situation.
Yeah, spending time in the country… my favorite thing to do. There’s been lots going on, with people coming and going, family matters to attend to, const projects/house maintenance, most of which can’t be done in the winter.
