Hopefully, these are all people who want to kick Joementum off his Senatorial throne, but there’s no way to be certain:
A line ran out the door at the registrar’s office this morning at Westport Town Hall.
A few of them were there to register for the first time to vote in Tuesday’s Democratic primary, but most wanted to change their affiliation from unaffiliated to Democrat.
The deadline to register for Tuesday’s primary was today at noon, and Democratic Registrar of Voters Nita Cohen said 79 people visited her office either to register for the first time or change their affiliation. […]
Of the people who visited her office in the three hours before the deadline today, she said, 61 were changing from unaffiliated status to Democrat.
Eighteen new voters registered, she said, and of them 15 chose to be Democrats.
One thing we know for sure: these aren’t Republicans rushing to save Joe’s tush. They had to change their party affiliation to Democratic by early May in order to vote for Lieberman in the August primary. No, these are all newcomers, folks who have never voted in a Dem or Repub primary before.
Which candidate will benefit from their sudden decision to renounce their independent status? Will they be the calvary, riding to the rescue of a besieged Ft. Lieberman, or will they join that band of savage and angry barbarians, shooting their flaming arrows at the Fortress of Centritude as part of the crazed, lefty tribe commanded by Chief Ned Lamont?
We’ll know soon enough.
at the door asking them either?
You’d think the line of new folks would be as long as the voters.
no reason to think they aren’t Independents who’ve tended to vote R for the last several years.
It’s too early to tell, and we’ve learned in the past that it’s foolish to write off the ability of the right to run a good ground game. Holy Joe plays a vital part in the lie of “bipartisainship” and “centrism” that the wackjob Birchers and Theofascists are scamming, and I wouldn’t put it past them to pull out all the stops for that faux “liberal”.
We’ll just have to see.
In the political environment we are in today and have been since last20-30 years, with the rise of the republican party with their games they play to win, etc., I am and will highly suspicious of their motive…always.
I even question the republicans leaving their party and running as democrats. I want to ask them why they do not want to work to change their own party, instead. Just saying…
What if they are voted in, and they start to vote like leiberman. we then have gained more leibermans than just having one. See the point I am trying to make? Just saying.
If we are to be completely honest with ourselves, we must address all options for the reasons of WHY.
That’s why I’m not voting for one in my district. At least you know the repub that we’re stuck w/now will screw you over. Why believe the same old bull that has been passed around for years and expect things to suddenly be different? Ain’t gonna happen.
