Legendary columnist Jimmy Breslin comes out of retirement to pen scathing piece on Iraq
I WAS GOING TO PUT THESE IN CABINGIRLS DIARY TODAY, BUT FELT IT WAS TOO MUCH AND THEN WENT WITH A DAIRY TO COVER IT ALL.
I gather here today to sadly send my sympathy to those who have died last month, that the pentagon has so gladly shared the names of, with us. I gather here today to share the sympathy of those who will die tomorrow and the days following.
It does seem, since the Israeli/Lebanon war started–which is sad too, BTW; that all we hear about nowadays is that and not remembering we still have a two pronged war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The development is not good there, as we all have seen on our tv sets. Sadr’s group of militants are gathering to stir more shit amongst the rebels. Soon I am sure we will hear how they gathered together to help Hezbollah on their journey to freedom in Lebanon. Considering that our dear leader does not know the sects of Muslims we are dealing with. God help us all on both sides of this confrontation. We certainly do need to be more prudent of what is REALLY going on here in our world.
Please, let it be known from here on out that we, as Americans, must stand united of both parties, to stop the killing. This has got to stop!
I love Rub for his diary on the wrongs and atrocities done in this world, but I would rather not have his diary up today and every day, from henceforth on out, and I am sure you and he, would too. This nonsense is just gone on way toooooo long, if you ask me.
I do not know what the magic thing to do, to stop it. I for one am gonna stop sitting on my a double ss and start petitoning my government to stop…just stop the killing done in my name. I am only one person, an old lady who has seen her better days, but I still have heart and a soul and I intend to use that for the betterment of this world of which I belong.
Please, I challenge you to find your way, like many here have, and go do something, some little something to make y our voice heard.
Voting is important, but your voice, externally is the most wanted thing ever, if we are to put an end to this war and others being started in our name. Now that our representatives are back home for the summer break, we must address this with them on a daily basis, Make a pest of yourself either by calling them or addressing them in person for your desires. If you are content, to stay the course, then do nothing. However, I for one, am starting today to address this with my rep. locally.
Thank you for your time, and please challenge yourself to do something, for humanity’s sake.
dear wonder woman is very smart..not! and yet here it is again
something is just not working, here!
and this one is just for fun interesting, to say the least. How did you score?
will someone, please, tell dubya about this!
oh, what a hoot this administration is!
whoops, how did we miss this one!!??
poor rummy, he is not hitting on all of his cylinders, these days!
Well, guess I have done my homework for today. I think we all need to review things to keep in perspective, huh!!?? I guess I could tell rummy, if here were here with me, that my mommy did not promise me a rose-garden either…:o) Oh well, just be advised, that this administration is having a hard year it seems…nothing seems to be going their way, to hear the articles. What hypocrisy!!!!!!
Excellent roundup, Brenda. Condi says an Iraqi civil war is hypothetical? So is George Bush’s Intelligence Quotient, but we know one exists.
Rumsfeld is definetly a couple of bricks shy a load, goodness gracious me.
Unlike the press, we here actually remember that little war in Iraq, and it’s getting worse by the minute.
By the way, I see now that CNN has at least one reporter embedded with the Israelis. Someone finally told the Israelis that there is no better way to pump propaganda from the front lines than a couple of corporate embeds.
Hi Nag, and glad you came for a visit today.
I have been hearing on cnn, that the Israeli government has warned everyone [where I didn’t get] to stay inside for shit was about to hit the fan. I wonder if it was so they could just bomb the buildings and get greater deaths from something like this or what. It seems to me if everyone was out of buildings and that they were scattered, it would be extremely hard for them to bomb them. Oh well, that is just me and my thinking. I do not trust the Israelis for one moment. Just my pov only.
Bravo Brenda – you have put my thoughts together so well – thank you!
Haven’t seen BostonJoe here for a bit which causes me to worry. But I tracked down the East Lansing peace group and there is another Petals for Peace
Friday, August 18, 2006.
This is the plan:
See that highlighted part? That was me.
Now I am not an organizer. And I am not very organized. So the last Petals for Peace was me delivering a potted impatiens plant to my Rep’s office with a letter asking him to initiate, sponsor, and support legislation to bring the troops home.
August 18th I will do it again. Maybe I will get some local friends to participate.
Add your Rep’s name and fax number to the list. Please. I would love to send a fax flower to your Rep. And you can send one to mine. And maybe others will join in too. You even helped me figure out what to say:
Please, let it be known from here on out that we, as Americans, must stand united of both parties, to stop the killing. This has got to stop!
