Well, I’m not sure — I’ll have to play it by ear. I mean, if there’s something to say about the shoes I’ll of course bring it to your attention, but it is all about the dresses.
Well, we all have our hobbies. I feel a similar way about hiking. Actually, I’m lying. I’m not indifferent to hiking, I hate it. I even dislike the shoes!
As I said above I’ve had it for 10yrs and I sharpen it daily and it’s the best knife I’ve ever had. I also have a paring knife and it’s just as good. It was a gift from an ecentric member of my husband’s family — his uncle sent it in the mail — no card, no note … just this huge knife! LOL ….
Ice cream makes all things better, unless you are lactos intolerant.
I mantain a healthy repect for all things sharp. Unfortunately, I cut myself anyway.
Imogen was looking at my left arm yesterday and asked, “what did you do to your arm?”
To which I replied, “that line’s the burn from the woodstove, that’s a scrape, that little blood blister is where I hit the heel of my hand with the hammer, and that’s were I got a splinter, and all the little spots are from the rash I had last month.”
I’ve always maintained that I’m not accident prone. Rather, I’m a disaster waiting to happen. And on that note, I’m off to plumb and play with saws and torches.
Heeeeey, am I surrounded by liberal elitists, or what? Well, at least you guys have me here to alert you to these things. BTW, the woman from the Canadian Entertainment tonight just went down the red carpet.
Not really. It’ll definitely make me more knowledgeable, but to me, that means a lot of work and many weekend nights where I’ll be studying instead of relaxing.
Watching the Emmys, eh? Let me know if Arrested Development wins the Best Comedy nomination. Best comedy ever, and I will forever be bitter that Fox killed it.
ooooh come on …. Barry’s fun to watch. Either because you get caught up in the 1000th time you’ve heard Mandy or because you can make fun of him. Really, you can’t go wrong with Barry.
You’d think we west coasters would get to see it live, but nooooo. I’m still stuck on the red carpet. And the interviews are all from the waist up! I haven’t even glimpsed a shoe yet!
Yes, it does take place on the west coast. Dammit it’s our industry, our obsession, our whole deal AND YET, we gotta be blacked out for east coast prime time. We have quite a resentment out here about it.
It’s okay, guys — I don’t mind the spoilers and, plus, I’m taking off for an hour to watch the Deadwood season finale. See ya later if you’re still around!
My week was not very good. There were a bunch of unimportant work related frustrations. But they don’t really matter. The daughter of a good friend of mine tried to commit suicide this week (for the second time). She jumped off a highway overpass onto the interstate. She lived.
That’s really awful and made a bit more horrible by picking such a terrible way to try it. Suicide is such a mystery to me; I can’t imagine the depth of despair it takes to make one want to die — and I feel rather happy and yet self-centered that I can’t.
I can imagine being in such mental anguish that you would want it to end.
But I can’t imagine doing something that is so painful, could endanger so many other people and, most importantly, is likely to not kill you but leave you physically disabled and in physical pain – so your life is just worse than it was.
But not being able to understand that simply means that I’m not mentally ill and I can’t really imagine what it’s like to be mentally ill. It’s a terrible thing. And so hard on her family.
I can’t believe you’d waste your valuable time on GG and not sample the superb writing and character development on Grey’s. It’s the best show since Northern Exposure.
Maybe because it’s medical. The only show about medicine that I’ve ever liked was St. Elsewhere. I’ve never even been a fan of ER or any of the other medical type shows.
Although since I’ve never actually watched the anatomy show, I can’t really say.
Helloooooo ….. oooooolleH
NOoooooooooooooooo! Andi beat me! My erstwhile early-morning nemesis! 😛
You poor young’uns, you just can’t compete with us wily geezers. (And it’s pretty sorry when you can’t beat someone on dial-up.)
Helllooooo! I missed it by that much — I was about to volunteer to have an Emmy red-carpet cafe!
How has your weekend been?
I had no idea they were on tonight.
You gonna live blog ’em? Or just the shoes?
Well, I’m not sure — I’ll have to play it by ear. I mean, if there’s something to say about the shoes I’ll of course bring it to your attention, but it is all about the dresses.
There are things that I’m more indifferent to than fashion but right now they all escape me.
Well, we all have our hobbies. I feel a similar way about hiking. Actually, I’m lying. I’m not indifferent to hiking, I hate it. I even dislike the shoes!
than well-made all leather hiking boots.
I believe what we have here is a fundamental difference. Still, there’s no reason it should spoil the friendship. We’re all about the big tent, right?
I understand that someone can be entirely wrong and still be a delightful person. 😉
🙂
Hi Andi, Psi, Izzy!
what the ice cream flavor du jour?
I really need it to. I cut myself tonight w/ my Zwilling Henckel chef knife …
I’ve had it for 10yrs and this is the first time I’ve cut myself. Pretty good record considering my clumsiness.
No stitches required, but only b/c it hit my nail and stopped.
I don’t know why no one will buy them for me.;)
Last time I checked, just the bread knife was about $150AUD.
LOL ….
on cuts, it speeds up the healing. 🙂
Being a klutz, I cut myself all the time — Jim won’t let me slice bagels because he doesn’t like them with blood on them.
while using The Knife, but tonight I was rushing … :/
The ice cream does make me feel better …

The right arm is just as bad.
Always carry bandaids.
Jim refers to my tendency to cuts and scrapes as my ritual scarring.
Ouch!
I’ve always maintained that I’m not accident prone. Rather, I’m a disaster waiting to happen. And on that note, I’m off to plumb and play with saws and torches.
See y’all later.
Hey Olivia — did you know the Emmy’s are on??
I did not know that til I saw your comment … 🙂
Heeeeey, am I surrounded by liberal elitists, or what? Well, at least you guys have me here to alert you to these things. BTW, the woman from the Canadian Entertainment tonight just went down the red carpet.
I’ll put my hand up for “or what.” I don’t even have a TV.
Why does everyone keep saying that?!? Oh, well, I’ll post the important pictures so you don’t miss out. Stephen Colbert’s already up.
Ha! I beat FroggyBottom/Family Man to the punch!
How’s the slacker life going?
Heh…not too badly. As you can see, I am trying to effect a takeover of the Frog Pond rec list. 😛
It’s going to end soon enough, though, as I have to go back to school on Friday. How’ve things been with you?
Taking any courses that you’re really looking forward to?
Not really. It’ll definitely make me more knowledgeable, but to me, that means a lot of work and many weekend nights where I’ll be studying instead of relaxing.
It’s too bad not to have courses you really enjoy. My junior year was when I really started getting to take courses I loved.
At any rate, I hope the year goes well.
Here we go.
The intro was too long and Conan is boring as hell as usual. LOL
Hi Olivia!!!!
I LOVE Sandra Oh and am rooting for her to win, but I’m sorry, the ruffled neckline is tragic.
What a cute picture. LOL
I like it because it shows that just how long I’ve been honing my attitude of snotty disdain.
That is a great picture! And, I must say, you’re making those ruffles work.
Hey, that’s sort of a Dorothy Hamill long before Dorothy Hamill was even born! :::ducks:::
with baby fine hair when you don’t give much a damn what it looks like.
She’s from Ottawa too … 🙂
Yeah Magan!!!!! I loved her in Will and Grace
we don’t want you to throw your back out again.
lol!!!!
Watching the Emmys, eh? Let me know if Arrested Development wins the Best Comedy nomination. Best comedy ever, and I will forever be bitter that Fox killed it.
LOL Okay!!!!
The perfect picture. LOL
No spoilers, please! We don’t get the telecast till 8pm!
(Heading out for dinner anyway…)
LOL well when you get back you can check here for all the winners. LOL
I just tuned in and some guy was giving an acceptance speech on a segway? Or was that just stupid Conan stuff?
So Izzy — any good shoes yet?
more stupid conan crap
I’ve never found him funny — I don’t know what it is about him. Do your like him?
I cannot stand him. LOL
Yaaay The Daily Show won, but I thought Jon Stewart would be funnier in his speech.
LOL Well they have been warned no politics LOL
ooooh, Barry Manilow is going to be on!
Oh Lord. What a queen he is. LOL I loved his music back in the day but that day has passed.
ooooh come on …. Barry’s fun to watch. Either because you get caught up in the 1000th time you’ve heard Mandy or because you can make fun of him. Really, you can’t go wrong with Barry.
True!!!!
Barry manilow scares me. What the hell did he do to his already tragic looking face?
Too many face lifts.
He gets a bikini wax instead of shaving now. LOL
I just don’t look at his face.
His music is cheerful and it makes me laugh (sometimes inappropriately).
woohoo! more Barry!
I think it’s the Liza haircut that makes him look so freaky.
You’d think we west coasters would get to see it live, but nooooo. I’m still stuck on the red carpet. And the interviews are all from the waist up! I haven’t even glimpsed a shoe yet!
oh! But it takes place on the west coast doesn’t it?
Well, then I’ll stop with the spoilersbut I WILL comment on the the gowns so you know what to look for 🙂
Yes, it does take place on the west coast. Dammit it’s our industry, our obsession, our whole deal AND YET, we gotta be blacked out for east coast prime time. We have quite a resentment out here about it.
sorry Izzy!!!! I hate that we are spoiling the awards for you. You can watch it live at NBC.com
OMG, Simon’s shirt is open almost to his waist. Gross.
Simon just proves he has no class at all
It’s okay, guys — I don’t mind the spoilers and, plus, I’m taking off for an hour to watch the Deadwood season finale. See ya later if you’re still around!
oops I lied. LOL
Hey, it’s Mary! 🙂 How’s it going, She Who Does Not Find Me Funny? 😛
LOL
you’re hilarious!
How was your week?
My week was not very good. There were a bunch of unimportant work related frustrations. But they don’t really matter. The daughter of a good friend of mine tried to commit suicide this week (for the second time). She jumped off a highway overpass onto the interstate. She lived.
OMG. I am so sorry!!!
Thanks R69.
That’s really awful and made a bit more horrible by picking such a terrible way to try it. Suicide is such a mystery to me; I can’t imagine the depth of despair it takes to make one want to die — and I feel rather happy and yet self-centered that I can’t.

But not being able to understand that simply means that I’m not mentally ill and I can’t really imagine what it’s like to be mentally ill. It’s a terrible thing. And so hard on her family.
The suffering of her family and friends is something that I can imagine. I wish no one ever had to experience it.
I don’t think people who commit suicide are thinking. They’re just in pain and want it to stop and they don’t see another way.
that’s pretty much what she said to her mother on the cell phone right before she jumped
Ha. You can’t fool me! 😛
Damn. You’re too sharp to be taken in by me 🙁
Dick’s voice isn’t good, but he still looks great.
Dick Clark is a true star!!!! He impresses me so much.
Barry Manilow got an emmy? He is suprised but has a speech ready. LOL
What’s with Bob Newhart?
Conan put him in there and said there was only 3 hours of air. another stupid joke that isn’t funny.
if this is the new golden age of TV, I will be damned happy when it is over. The majority of it on the main stations is crap.
I have to admit that I haven’t seen most of these shows. Partly because I don’t have cable.
But I was under the impression that the only shows these days were Law and Order spinoffs and CSI spinoffs. Maybe I was wrong 🙂
I quit watching muc tv cause it is so full of the reality crap that is so boring.
me too. It’s only Gilmore Girls for me 😉
Not even Gray’s Anatomy and My Name is EArl?
I’ve never seen either of those shows
I can’t believe you’d waste your valuable time on GG and not sample the superb writing and character development on Grey’s. It’s the best show since Northern Exposure.

I loved St. Elsewhere – it’s very much like that.
SPOILER ALERT:
I love Monk and I’m so glad he won! (I HAVE seen that show.)
Izzy — Candace Bergen alert. What WAS she thinking?
I Like Candace and teh fact that she doesn’t dress half her age.
Do you think Heather Locklear had work done on her face?
I don’t think so
Nice tribute to Aaron Spelling
I almost had tears in my eyes.
Jaclyn Smith hasn’t aged at all.
She is still stunning. You can hear her age in her voice but not see it.
I suppose I’ll go open a new cafe (if I can remember how).
LOL We have filled this one up.
Conan just blasted Fox NEWS!!!! I love it.
The new cafe is now open, so make the Amazing Race on over there.
