At long last, here’s the information for the Midwest Meetup:
Midwest Meetup
October 7, 2006
Chicago, Illinois
CAF CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE RIVER CRUISE
10:30 A.M.
Meet at 10:30 at the SE corner of the Michigan Avenue Bridge and Wacker under the blue awning. This event costs $27.00 and you need to buy your own tickets. Advance purchase is recommended. The River Cruise starts at 11:00 and lasts 90 minutes.
PICNIC IN MILLENIUM PARK
2:00 P.M.
Meet at 2:00 p.m. at the Park Café. Bring your own picnic or you can purchase a “picnic bag to go” at the Park Café.
If you have ideas about the picnic portion, please post them here. If rain is predicted we’ll skip the picnic and meet for lunch somewhere – probably the Park Grill next to the Park Café. We should have a better idea about the weather that week so we can alert everyone to the plan.
A number of us are going to arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday. Ideas about what to do with the rest of our time are welcome. Once we have hotels settled we’ll post that information.
That would be excellent! The cheapest hotel we’ve found downtown is the Congress. You can get better rates, though, if you stay out near O’Hare or Midway and then take the train. Of course, if you’re driving in you can stay anywhere and just drive in.
Kidspeak ordered 2 tickets for the building-by-boat-tour, so we are definitely coming. We’ll drive from Detroit on Friday night, so we’ll be arriving late. We’ll meet you at the dock on Saturday. Looking forward to it! Let’s see, a hotel would be nice. I better to work on that.

I’m hoping they are turning all the way to Chicago. 🙂
I’ll try to make it. I’ll know more in few weeks.
It would be great to meet you. Hopefully the tentative settlement will be a good one and life will be back to as normal as it gets these days.
Who knows. The whole thing has left me drained. We didn’t getaway at all this summer. Chicago would be fun. We’ll try to make it.
That. Just. Might. Work.

The weather in Chicago is supposed to be OK on Saturday so we’ll picnic. To order a picnic lunch from the Park Cafe call 312-521-7276
There is a $15 picnic and a $20 picnic. Or you can bring your own.
