Hi Folks!!!!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I got some errands run and now have to start writing a new letter for the Stonewall Democrats of Williamson County. We are official and have a mailing address. LOL We are going to try and raise enough money to pay for yard signs that say “Vote Democrat” to be placed in yards through out the county. Anyone who would like to help can mail a check to :
Stonewall Democrats of Williamson County

Of course, we need your occupation listed on an enclosed note incase we raise enough funds to have to file a report. I don’t think we will raise over 25,000 between now and New Years but you never know. LOL
Hey everyone! Just taking a break from watching Junebug and almost burning down the house. I kept smelling something burning and couldn’t find anything so I thought it was the belt on the vacuum cleaner. But it kept getting stronger over an hour or so. Finally remembered what it might be and sure enough, the dog had pushed a leather chair up against a floor lamp that has light bulbs all the way down to the floor and a japanese paper shade. So the bulb had burned through the shade and burned a hole in the back of the leather chair and it was still smoldering. That was a close call.
Oh noes! You’ve got one of those dogs. You better up your HO insurance first thing Tuesday morning — if she gives you that long before she chews through your plumbing and tries to drown you all in your sleep.
Hi Indy. My Mom had an english sheep dog puppy that the first night they put it in the bathroom. She chewed through a copper pipe and flooded the whole house. My Mom said when she got up that morning her feet just went squish. They found Belle, the puppy, huddled over in a corner. Belle slept with my brother from then on.
Puppies have to go to great extents to train their people.
Some of them are just destructo-pets right from the start. I bought an Aussie for an ex once and he wound up eating through the plumbing at one of her friend’s houses, causing like $10K worth of damage.
And cats will do it, too. My housemate and I had a kitty who, during one of her first heats, peed all over all of our leather furniture. She ruined every single piece of it like she was on a mission, lol.
Hey dada,
Funny site that you linked. I like the music to the dog site. I just listened to it for a little rather than enter. I`ll check it out again if only for the music.
No dada. On the parrot site there`s a link to real parrots & one to parrotheads. From one of these, there`s a link to dobermans. I went there & the musik is cool. It has a tempo that has unusual metric to it.
Yes I did see the old skool Knuckle, & did send one back of one of my old Knukles if you care to go look at it.
On that happy note , here`s a splash of color for all of you enjoying the Labour Day weekend. [spelling of “labour” for Olivia] http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/4128/pygmyangeloncrestdscn2006dh6.jpg
Dada, it seems I can`t go back to your link to the parrothead personalities for some reason. I just went back to listen to the music to try & figure it out & to make sure I wasn`t crazy, since you didn`t seem to know about the site you linked to. Now I`m questioning my sanity, which is not really unusual.
Yes Olivia, but when I go to it, I get a page of script but no site.
When I click on the “Parrothead” link from dada, I get script also, yet when I first clicked his link, I was able to surf to different links from that site including the “Dobieden” site where I listened to the music on the welcome page.
Btw, How`s your Labour day weekend?
Here`s the Hawkfish kickin it for the weekend. http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/7289/hawkfishongiantcupdscn1970bd0.jpg
Hey Olivia, are you talking of hot air balloons? If so, I have a nice story involving a friend of mine, hot air balloons, the leader of the motorcycle group “The Capitalist Pigs”, Malcolm Forbes & my meeting with Mr. Forbes at a large motorcycle meet. Also the pin my friend gave me of Mr. Forbes hot air balloon in the shape of a Harley, that I still wear.
The tank photos are what they are, but a few things that must be overcome are reflections from outside the tank. You can`t wear white shirts or light coloured [spelling, haha] clothing. It`s better to have only the tank lights on [reflections again], & all drapes closed.
For these reasons I usually just shoot with the lens directly on the tank surface which completely eliminates that problem. Secondly, the camera
I`m using doesn`t have instant focus, or progressive focus. So by the time my subject would be in focus, it`s no longer where it was. [bummer]
What I do is study a behavior & track a path I presume the subject/fish will be on within the next min. or at least quite soon. I prefocus on that spot & wait for my subject to enter the zone & shoot. At night with no lights on in the tank & all external {house lights] off is when a completely different variety of behaviors occur & corals are opening their polyps to feed. In the daytime they`re absorbing light to convert their food intake into growing energy through photosynthesis, so they also look different. For shooting at this time I have a little moon light which is blue or a red light which doesn`t seem to bother them, basically similar to being in a darkroom with the red light on. I light my subject up with this light to allow the camera to register the focal length, shut off the light & shoot.
I`ll try & get some coral polyps feeding tonight to show the differene. Another reason to prefocus on a spot other than where you`re shooting is when your subject has tentacles that are waving around & constantly changing what the camera is trying to focus on. I find that instead of using manual focus, I estimate the distance to the spot I want the actual focal length to be & pick something else to focus on the same distance away from my subject, lock the focus on & move to shoot where my subject actually is.
Here`s an example. The camera won`t register the center of this subject because of the tentacles closer to the camera than the center. http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/1327/tubedtubedscn1938eh1.jpg
Well, we just finished school shopping and getting the goodies for our cookout tomorrow. I’m all tired out. I need to clean up the kitchen, put the groceries away and put some chicken on to marinate, but right at the moment I’m slacking.
Hi Andi. Nope it was out of desperation. I was trying to hook up the old computer with a line in from the wireless router. I never could get it to work with windows, so I decided to try linux.
Hey FM, once you get it running, let me know how that Linux install goes, wouldya? I’m getting ready to build a home entertainment PC (basically just a homemade TIVO but nicer, with a DVD burner and a massive hard drive; also want to use it as a stereo and probably put a game emulator in there, too, stuff like that) and I want to run MythTV on a Linux platform, but I’ve not used it yet so I’m in the dark about how challenging it’s going to be.
What flavor of Linux are you installing? Something like Fedora or Ubuntu is going to install a lot faster than something like Gentoo where you have to compile everything as you go. In fact I wouldn’t put Gentoo on a computer like that unless you used all pre-compiled packages.
Hey there Indy and everyone. Has anyone seen the movie “Junebug”? It’s really good and filled with North Carolina stuff like pimento cheese and mayonnaise references. You’d love it FM.
SN I just looked it up. You sure you didn’t write this.
Plot Outline: A dealer in “outsider” art travels from Chicago to North Carolina to meet her new in-laws, challenging the equilibrium of this middle class Southern home.
I don’t get out much, so I don’t see anything until it comes out on DVD. I’ll keep it in mind, tho’. I’ve been hearing wonderful things from all corners about Little Miss Sunshine, if you’ve not seen that yet.
This is on DVD which is the only way I ever watch movies. I don’t think it was ever in wide release but the young woman in it got an oscar nomination for it. Can’t even remember her name – maybe Amy Adams?
Little Miss Sunshine is on my “maybe I could sit through this in a theater” list.
Wow-I’m actually here before dark and while everyone’s still around! Hello! I don’t quite know what to say-sorta like when someone picks up the phone when I’m expecting voicemail….uh,uh…how ya doin’? Come here often? What’s yer sign?
I have a picture of my mom sitting in her segregated grade school classroom; it was definitely The South™, we just had more malls and better Cuban food.
Whatever it is isn’t loading on my system. Before I checked the source code and saw that there was actually a link there, I was sitting here watching nothing trying to figure out if you were making some kind of Zen joke. It was operating like one of those little cards that says “How do you keep an idiot busy for hours? Turn this card over.” And then you turn it over and it says the same thing on the other side.
Oh, now I see it! Olivia, your comment musta had some mojo on it.
Meanwhile, I’m not a Christian, but I can so totally see Jesus pointing at W going, “This guy? Really? You think that’s what I’m about? Can’t you people read? The hell?”
I am a zen joke but my sign is real. I don’t why you can’t see it — it has a semi-bad word in it so maybe your ‘puter is trying to protect your innocence (poor deluded circuit board).
Wasting away again in………
who are you impersonating tonight?
Hey Boo! Just trying to waste away.
Of course alcohol helps. 🙂
I just had an Allagash…pretty good.
Shows how much I know. I’ve never heard of Allagash.
me either. I have no idea what that is. LOL
Now I understand. LOL
I could live with that.

Hi Refinish.
Hope you reach your goal.
LOL Thank you. The goal is no where near the 25,000. We are being realistic. We are actually raising $600 for the signs. LOL
With as much energy as you have, you’ll probably have it by Wed.
LOL I hope but some how I doubt that will happen. LOL
Hey folks! Back from Patrick Murphy’s BBQ out in Bucks County. Just did a write-up of it. Everyone else’s day going well?
Hello Psi. Hope you had fun.
Hi Psi!!! Hope the event was a great success.
Is anyone else having trouble with the pages coming up?
so far …
How ya doing FM? 🙂
SN, RF, Psi and Boo too……..gotta pay attention, eh
LOL!!!! Don’t worry about it. Life is too short.
Hi Miss Olivia!!!!!
🙂
Hi Olivia. I don’t know what going on, on this end. It’s taking forever to load or timing out.
Think I’ll close down and restart.
Back in a minute.

I am sorry about the lamp and the chair but glad the house didn’t burn down.
Thank goodness you found it and all is OK. Got to love them puppies. 🙂
good thing you found it when you did.

Has George ever destroyed anything valuable?
Nope George hasn’t ever done anything like that. He just yaps. 🙂
Parrot Heads about……..
clik image for personality profiles….:{)
Too Funny!!!!
Hi dada. I’m probably Type A
It’s been awhile, but I still have them. 🙂
Hey dada,
Funny site that you linked. I like the music to the dog site. I just listened to it for a little rather than enter. I`ll check it out again if only for the music.
I saw your bug carrier the other night … lol 🙂
drawing a blank….Allman Bros?
and O…if ya missed it go check out his old school ride….SWEET!!!!!

Rainy today … It’s the Gatineau (formerly Hull) balloon fest this w/e — had thought of going to see the balloons but it’s not a the best weather.
That is weird about the site …
So how about you? Anything new and exciting w/ you?
And it amazes me how clear your aquarium shots are … do you use any special technique?

Boy, that Margaritaville logo is bright.
Well, we just finished school shopping and getting the goodies for our cookout tomorrow. I’m all tired out. I need to clean up the kitchen, put the groceries away and put some chicken on to marinate, but right at the moment I’m slacking.
Hey Omir, I’m trying to install Linux on an old computer of mine. It’s slow going though. This one came with windows 95.
Is this a scientific experiment to see just how slow Linux can run?
Hi Andi. Nope it was out of desperation. I was trying to hook up the old computer with a line in from the wireless router. I never could get it to work with windows, so I decided to try linux.
How was your day?
It was great. We had a fine time, Steph enjoyed her birthday, food was good, company was better.
Lot of time sitting though. My old cranky bones are stiff.
That doesn’t help either for the stiffness.
are a pair.
The installation is going smooth so far, just slow. It’s a very old computer.
Now Omir is the linux man. Once I get it installed, I’ll be asking him all the questions.
And I’ll answer them.
What flavor of Linux are you installing? Something like Fedora or Ubuntu is going to install a lot faster than something like Gentoo where you have to compile everything as you go. In fact I wouldn’t put Gentoo on a computer like that unless you used all pre-compiled packages.
I’m putting Ubuntu on right now. I had tried it out on disk on my laptop and decided to put it on the old one.
Good choice. That’s what I’m using right now.
Hey there Indy and everyone. Has anyone seen the movie “Junebug”? It’s really good and filled with North Carolina stuff like pimento cheese and mayonnaise references. You’d love it FM.
Hi SN. No I haven’t heard of it. Sounds like my kind of movie. 🙂
SN I just looked it up. You sure you didn’t write this.
Plot Outline: A dealer in “outsider” art travels from Chicago to North Carolina to meet her new in-laws, challenging the equilibrium of this middle class Southern home.
She’s way too classy for me, but her NC native husband sure has a cute butt.
Not one of those up north flat butts huh. 🙂
Now wait a minute. Manny has a flat butt, and Mr. Nature is from TN and he has a negative butt. What about yours, FM?
I showed a picture of it when my friend was here. Sorry, you missed it.

Oh, yay! I’ll check it out next time I get up to the Hollywood Video.
by the time I find a spot to say hello, there three billion new comments.
Hi.
Hi! Did you get enough teasing of your baby sister in today?
I can never get my fill of that but it will tamp down my jones for awhile.
Wow-I’m actually here before dark and while everyone’s still around! Hello! I don’t quite know what to say-sorta like when someone picks up the phone when I’m expecting voicemail….uh,uh…how ya doin’? Come here often? What’s yer sign?
Hi Soup.
My sign:
I like that sign!
Of course you do. They raise us with good manners down there in The South™. 🙂
Wait a minute, you were raised in Miami. That’s not the South. 🙂
I have a picture of my mom sitting in her segregated grade school classroom; it was definitely The South™, we just had more malls and better Cuban food.
Compared to where I grew up, any Cuban food was better than what we had. 🙂

That’s okay, I couldn’t see maryb’s pictures of the Chihuly exhibit last night.
Ha very ha, my computer eats nasty for breakfast. Remember, I built it.
Well it’s past my bedtime, so goodnight everyone.
Have a good night in the pond.
G’night, FM!
clean, well-lit place over here.
