My Random 10
Awesome FRT, refinish, and mucho congrats on the speech.
You know, I am not a bit surprised!
From hearing a few of you have a great voice, I know you have a very good voice, which you use well.
That’s supposed to be “from hearing a few of your podcasts. . .” My husband distracted me, sorry!
Either Belkin or Griffin are coming up with some sort of iPod accessory that records directly onto the iPod, then I assume the file can be opened in whatever podcast software the user has. Saw it mentioned on a review and thought of you and your podcasting career… 🙂
(Random 10 to be posted later; I’m on the laptop and my iTunes library is on the desktop, and I haven’t figured out how to access it over the WiFi network…)
Thanks for all the comments on the speech. I might try and recreat it for a podcast but as with my podcast it was off the cuff with nothing but a few words scribled down that I never even looked at once I entered the room. LOL I think psi and I should exchange music collections someday. LOL His collection is as ecclectic(sp) as mine is and I recognized every song.
Hey all! 😀 I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the weekend. My random 10:
Everclear – Amphetamine
Billy Joel – The Great Wall of China
Reel Big Fish – Rock ‘N Roll is Bitchin’
Gladiator Soundtrack – Homecoming
Useless ID – State of Fear
Symphony X – Communion and the Oracle
The Suicide Machines – Islands
Nightwish – The Phantom of the Opera
No Use For A Name – Nailed Shut
Rage Against The Machine – Revolver
I’m curious, Psi. If you’ve got the time, take a look at my list. I don’t know a single one of your choices. Are you familiar with any of mine?
By the way, I believe I saw somewhere that you were a Wharton, correct? I was a Central High kid until my folks moved to Texas and dragged me along. If I remember correctly, Wharton wasn’t too far from CHS. (But it was a while back, and geography isn’t my long suit.) I remember lots of trees and brick walls lining the Wharton campus.
I recognize a couple of the musicians listed for yours, such as The Boss and Clapton, but I don’t know any of those exact songs. I’m almost certain it’s a generational difference – with the exception of some of the classic rock I listen to, almost everything is contemporary, with a bias towards punk rock and metal of various stripes.
My roommate actually went to Central as well. As for the Penn campus, there are a lot of trees around Locust Walk. Brick walls…I guess a lot of the buildings on campus are made out of brick, but it’s not particularly something I notice all too much.
Hey! Am I allowed at the bar?
Aren’t you too young for the bar? ;p
Oh, my! I’m going to call the puppy protection hotline right now!!
Expect a knock at your door any minute now!
I didn’t take that picture, and afaik, no puppies were harmed in the production of this Intertubes™ graphic joke. 🙂
I see. . .so that’s your story and you’re going to stick with it, eh??
That’s an awesome picture!!
Puppies today. (much sighing and head shaking) What are you gonna do? I just hope Luna doesn’t see this. It would break her heart.
TOO funny!!!!! I have seen this one before years ago.
No! Go to bed. 🙂

Love your Dire Straits and Traffic selection. That Traffic song took me WAY back! :>)
Hi all. Hope your having a good Friday night.
Agreed. Two great ones!
Hey Indy, how are things? Been thinkin bout cha.
I’ve been missing you guys! Things have been crazy, you know how it is when someone dies. There are a ton of things to do, so much emotion, and then every situation has its particular little eccentricities to deal with.
What’d I miss around here?
I think the worst part is when everything is over and the people go home and no one brings food over to the house anymore and you’re just alone with your loss for really the first time. Hope you two are doing okay.
You missed lots of nudity and lasciviousness.
I’m fine — and we won’t run out of food since I cook like a madwoman. I am a bit worried about E, but I think she’ll do all right eventually. She’s strong; very much her mother’s daughter in that regard. There’s going to be a big memorial service next weekend, a whole catered affair, so there’s that.
You missed lots of nudity and lasciviousness.
Thankfully, the lounge never runs out of that. 🙂
Oh Honey, I hadn’t heard. I am sending giant cyber hugs and wartm thoughts of love & healing.
I haven’t thought of “Low Spark” in a while. What about “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” for the B-side?
I have that Lou Reed cut, too. 🙂 Used to love that back in the 80s.
Holly came from Miami, F L A
hitch-hiked her way across the USA
plucked her eyebrows on the way
shaved her legs and then he was a she
she says, “Hey babe
take a walk on the wild side…”
Walk on the Wild Side is a classic. I don’t have an Ipod, and I’m not a huge music lover, but some people/groups represent times of my life. If I had a soundtrack, it would definately include:
among others.
Early Jefferson Airplane is great. Grace Slick could wail. Let’s not talk about the Starship days.
I once saw Starship and Slick came out in a pink warm-up suit! It was just so wrong. Starship was a mistake and we will not go there.
As for Bowie, he has seen me through more periods in my life than anyone else. With the exception of a few serious mistakes, he is a musical genious. I will never forget seeing him with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame. What a mix of new and old and jeckel and hyde. Brilliant.
Then there was the concert that all of the songs he sang were songs he had done with people who are now dead. A stunning tribute.
Thinking about Bowie leads me to the Talking Heads. I should have put “Burning Down the House,” “Psycho-Killer,” on my list.
It says something about us, I guess, and our times, that a singer we admire so much can do an entire concert of songs he had sung with people who are know dead. It’s been a pretty destructive time. Not many peaceful deaths at an advanced age on that list.
Oh My Goddess…I made a top ten list that did not include David Byrne and the Talking Heads. Oh somebody spank me! :>)
I’ve seen Byrne several times and each time was amazing. If I had to, I would take Yello out and put Talking Heads in. I just wanted to have a not so well known band represented.
I usually hate bands that redo classics, but the Talking Heads’ Take Me to the River is just sooo effin good. I can’t help but dance.
Yes! “Take me to the river!” I loved Al Green’s version, until I heard the TH’s. It is the version.
Kidspeak, who was carefully crafting her list, mentioned “Burning Down the House” before I posted it. She was vexed by “annexing” her idea. That’s what happens when two people blog on the same site while sitting six feet away from each other. I humbly admit “House” was her idea first. (Now will you stop smacking my arm?)
You have come so close to getting a zero! If the Gang of 4 were not watching!
You tell him! Sheesh…guys think they can take all the credit! :>)
Oh wow…I had no idea you and Kidspeak were partnered. That is so cool. My ex and I used to chat on the internet chat rooms for hours even though we were just feet apart. It was fun and I think it is great you guys are now a team here.
There are so many great Talking Heads songs, that I can’t even begin to list them. Like Bowie, each album is different and each has its merits.
We’ve been found out! I must hide! Good night and thanks for the fun remembering great songs.
WARNING! Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald will indite you if leak our identity.
Good Call on Bowie. Fits in great with “Low Spark” & “Walk on the Wild Side.”
Wow, I love almost all of those acts, and have at least one album by all of them except for Yello. I was a huge Bowie fan even as a very small child, which always made my mother nervous, lol. Her fave band was always The Rolling Stones.
Yello is just a really strange group that gripped me. They are like a predecessor to They Might Be Giants.
I never got into the Stones. I like some of their older stuff, and owned an album or two, but I lost all respect for them with Emotional Rescue. :>)
Great FRT I love it!!!!
(I stole this idea from Kidspeak.)
Rednecks / Randy Newman
London Homesick Blues – Reggae Version /Gary P. Nunn
Blues in the Night / Billie Holliday
Feeling Alright / Joe Cocker
Money for Nothing / Dire Straights
Burning Down the House / Talking Heads
General William Booth Enters Into Heaven / Henry Herford
Somebody to Love / Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick)
I Walk the Line / Johnny Cash
Woke Up This Morning / Alabama3
As a Southern, I object to the term Redneck.
As a Southerner, which I am, and you are distinctly not, I am entitled to use that term!
I am as Southern as Jerry Jeff Walker, even if I cannot type reliably.
LOL…I had a friend who follows Jerry Jeff and made me a CD and even worse, made me listen to it! ACK… almost as bad as a dead head, and I like the Dead. :>)
Seeed – Dickes B
Indigo Girls – The wood Song
Black Eyed Peas – Where is the Love?
Buffy St. Marie – Starwalker
Paris Combo – Living Room
Shivaree – My Boy Lollypop
Vika & Linda – Many Rivers to Cross
Cesaria Evora – Besame Mucho
Eva Cassidy – People Get Ready
Shakira – Underneath Your Clothes
Thankfully, Luna is outside, and missed the shocking, shocking I tell you, puppy picture.
Nice to hear from you, keres. Now that I know Luna is safe, I can totter off to bed with a peaceful mind. ‘Night all.
Nice choices, Keres – though I’m not so sure about Lollypop. Somehow, it seems to fit mania more than Tasmania.
I hope Luna is taking her pre-pregnancy vitamins.
It’s only the Shivaree version of Lollypop that I like. It’s just too much fun – one of those songs you can’t help smiling.
Luna and Albert send their wishes for sweet dreams to all of you calling Friday a day. We’ll see you again when your part of the world finally catches up with Saturday.
