Give me a word for a gutless, draft-dodger that supports a war he wont participate in. Chickenhawk?
Okay. The Chickenhawk in Chief is calling me out as a pussy and comparing me unfavorably with my father that served in Stuttgart in the early fifties and my grandfather that was a surgeon at Leavenworth, Kansas during the Big War. They were FDR, Truman Democrats that contributed their part to defeating Nazis and Stalinists.
In his sharpest partisan attack of this election campaign, President Bush denounced Democratic critics of his Iraq policy on Thursday and said “the party of FDR and the party of Harry Truman has become the party of cut and run.”
George W. Bush can bite me. I may not be made of the same stuff as my father and my grandfather. I never pretended that I was. But I know I can do what my country requires of me, just as they did. George W. Bush didn’t meet that test. He got a cushy job in the Texas National Guard and then went AWOL. He is a loser. He’s always been a loser. And he will go down in history as much worse than a loser.
He can’t bite me.
only after he bites me.
Make sure you’ve got your HRIG handy.
told spoon in his CTFD diary: “Bite My Ass” – it was the lone guffaw among the desolation I was feeling earlier, now muted with fermented hops.
You’re my hero, Manny.
I hope you don’t mind sharing!
Loser? How about Spawn of Satan, Murderer, Desecrator of all that is Holy, Destroyer, Last President of the United States?
The party of Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower has become the party of traitors and thieves.
Or, how ’bout…
The party of Nixon has become… oh, nevermind, 30 years too late…
Hehe, yeah I thought of something along those lines as well…and it should tell you something that I had to go all the way back to the early 1900’s to find another Republican other than Ike that I’d consider respectable 😉
He will go down in history as a war criminal. Maybe not soon, and maybe not even here in this country (officially anyway), and it’s possible he may end up being “the world’s highest-ranking unindicted war criminal,” but he’ll go down as a war criminal all the same.
is that he’ll go down in history as the first President to be impeached, convicted and removed from office — Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were impeached, but the Senate declined to convict them, while Richard Nixon resigned before he could be impeached…
I hope the same, but given that a quarter of the Dem senators voted for torture today, hope is probably all it is.
As if the Loser-In-Chief (aka The Human Etch-A-Sketch) has either knowledge or concern about history sufficient to form a comparative opinion. It’s already apparent that he finds history meaningless. After all, ‘we’ll all be dead’.
I don’t know about the looser – to me it looks like Bush and GOP have been very successful in pushing through their agenda, even against the will of an increasing number of US citizens. Not my definition of loosers.
Personally, I define a loser as one who uses his God-given will to inflict continual suffering, without conscience or mercy. That’s losing big time, IMO — power is finite, but no offense goes unanswered, even if only by one’s own mortality.
Plus, if you seperate the person of GWB from the GOP body & check out his bio, it’s easy to judge him a loser even in the conventional sense. Everything the man lays his paws on turns to shit. If it weren’t for the name, he’d be a woeful statistic.
I do agree with you to a certain degree, however, he is the president of the US and he seems to be able to push through what is important to him. To me a winner is also someone who is able to manifest his own vision.
Now that what he pushes through turns to be shit for others, doesn’t mean he is not successful in accomplishing what is important to him. I think we often forget that he seems to have a very different agenda than most people here do and I definitely do not agree with it, but he is successfully manifesting it. I think it is dangerous to consider him a loser, that makes people underestimate him and the powers available to him and he has proven his skill in using them again and again. If he were a loser he would not be in the position he is now, and been able to keep it – even by illegal means.
I do believe that in the long-term karma will catch up with him and he will have to balance the check. And I do agree that on the soul-level he his losing.
And guess what clip of Bush is running on the morning MSM news today?
If you guessed “The part of FDR and Truman has become the party of cut and run,” you got it. I guess that’s the new Republcan slogan.
I’m so mad I could spit.
“The party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt has become the pro-torture party”. Will we hear anything like that from the Dem “leadership”? Don’t hold your breath too long.
No. We want George to go to Iraq, and SERVE HIS COUNTRY, for once in his life.
They were FDR, Truman Democrats that contributed their part to defeating Nazis and
We remember, of course, that the Bush family was ever and always on the Nazi side.
I will never fault a man, or any woman in the future for that matter, for dodging a draft, let alone label them gutless. It takes a lot of courage to make the decision to leave behind a family and never be able to come back, with the lifelong risk of imprisonment hanging over your head. What is gutless though is to call others cowards when you’re not willing to do what you are berating them for not doing.
Blindly following any government, no matter how just the cause, is to me, the real definition of cowardice and weakness.
Who’s blaming Dubya for dodging the draft? Most of us on this site are blaming Dubya for avoiding the draft through using his family’s influence (and trust me, he did use family influence to jump to the head of the line at an ANG unit during that period of the Vietnam War because the waiting lines were thousands long) to join an ANG unit and then NOT SATISFYING his service obligation. Frankly, given the current state of the Guard and active uniformed services, Dubya should be receiving his recall notice right about now so he can tote a rifle in Iraq. Instead, he’s dyspeptic that others are questioning his judgement on starting his little war in Mesopotamia, against far better advice given him in 2002 and 2003 than the voices in his head.
Booman is.
But that’s not my objection. I object to conflating draft dodging with being gutless. Draft dodging, then accusing others of doing what you’ve done yourself is what I call gutless.
And thanks for the history lesson.
Peace
True dat.
And it’s not as if serving in ‘Nam was a noble cause that required sacrifice from those who know what their country expects of them. WWII sure. Other than that… dodge away… takes more courage to lay down the gun than to shoot it.
But W is a fucking asswipe though.
And here I thought “the decider” was “a uniter, not a divider”, shows you what I know, eh?
You just figured out that Bush is a loser??
