For those who may be coming to terms with sexual abuse issues or who may have been “triggered” by the Foley Scandal there are support organizations in place. You can start with the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests.
I’m a survivor of clergy abuse. Though sometimes it seems really dark and you don’t know how you’ll get through the day, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Bruce Springsteen’s music and a lot of really good people taught me that.
Many I’ve known or met during this peace process have told me of this entire administration has been triggering their PTSD.
Many street protests police side of it anyways is geared to incite fear and paranoia amongst the activists.
This administration preys and lives on fear and pain.
Thanks for offering up some light, northcountry.
Another good reference site, with lots of good resources for victims of all kinds of abuse: http://www.witnessjustice.org.
(disclaimer: They’re one of my employer’s website clients, but I do think their site has a lot of good info on it.)
Speaking for myself…
I know that this regime has also triggered much insomina and anger. Also it’s triggered many others to come forward with their own stories of rape.
Thanks for the link, Janet
Love your sig.
Thanks. Jimi was “the man!” 🙂
Years and years of sucessful therapy, 25 years of sobriety, a deep, strong spirituality and a life full of very good and loving people still aren’t quite enough to insulate me fully from triggers as huge as the one unfolding again now. Especially when placed in the larger context of the overall rape of this country and it’s constitution by this current group of power mad abusers. I thought if I wrote a diary I’d feel a release of some of the anger, but it only fed it.
So now it’s reteat to the trees and hope to find some squirrels, because when all else fails to lighten the load, watching squirrels never does.
Thank you for watching out for us, MC.
Stuff like this can throw you. I have to watch out and make sure I don’t crash and curl up in a ball after pushing hard to get Wendy Wilde’s statement demanding Hastert’s resignation the national attention it deserves. We’ve got more to come.
Birds waves and salt air does it for me. Unfortunately there are no waves and salt air in Minnesota.
I need to get back on track with my yoga practice too! 🙂
And I am more committed than ever that us Minnesotans WILL get together soon (maybe after the election??). It might not work as well as the squirrels and salt air – but I think it might just be the next best thing.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you northcountry. And getting you and scribe together in one room will be an amazing site to see!!
I’m with you! The next best thing to landing in this cyber pond, was finding our there were BooPeople right here where at home to meet up with too!
ok!
Thanks for all your hard work, nc. Way to go with channeling those energies in consstructive ways.
Take very good care of yourself, please.
The squirrels delivered once again. My head no longer feels like it is going to explode. 🙂
Excellent!
Thank you for suggesting this to those who may very well need some backup.
Hugs
