Yeah, look who’s talking ‘high class’ here, eh? Just a quick howdy to ya FM (and the rest of the FBL crowd!) as I prepare to flee the office here in a few minutes. Nice to rub elbows quickly w/ya FM once again.
Seems like forever since I’ve been able to hang out here, but what with work and everything else lately, doesn’t seem to be time for much of anything else. We have to head straight to the hospital again after work tonight to see how C’s dad is doing. He was in a tractor accident on Sat and had to have emergency brain surgery … still not out of the woods but the prognosis is looking better at least.
Have a few cocktails for me will ya? I’ll forego your usual “27 of anything” and ask for 59 of everything! Seeya!
Hey to ya too CG! This summer done got away from me due to insane work and home responsibilities. I do pop by to read the FP most days but don’t get much further due to limited time. 🙁 I want work to slow down so I can have a life again! (I know, waaahhhh, lol)
Hope things are going well out your way now that fall’s here (and we’re feeling it here today!) Give my best to the CG family!
I think, with one more cup of tea, I just might start having some higher brain functions. Now I know that some people like getting through their days without waking that pesky forebrain, but I find that I need all the help I can get.
I’ll be calling “doggie camp” this morning to book her in for a few days.
Part of the problem is the we have two intact males in our neighborhood. Both of them less than a foot high, but still very keen, and they get Luna all worked up. I know they’ve arrived because the alpacas stand in a tight group and stare very intently.
It’s a sad day at “Sook Farm” (Sook : person or animal who is soft, tame, inoffensive. Hence sooky (adj.) ) when the alpacas have to guard the guard dog’s chastity.
It’s just started raining, which is a good thing – what with the drought and all. With any luck it will rain all day.
And it’s all the more reason to book Luna into doggie camp. They’ve got great big outside runs where she can get as dirty as she wants, and they bathe her just before I pick her up.
Yeah, at $14 a day, I’d have to keep her there a week before it would cost me more than taking her to the groomers.
Fortunately, doggie “car” wash stations have made it to Hobart. I can take her to “Shinners” car wash and put her in a thigh-high tub (no bending – yea!). It’s similar to a car wash in that you have a water hose and you can dial it for shampoo and rinse (even fragrance if you want), and then there’s a fat hose that blows warm air for drying. It starts at 11 and half minutes for $8, and to wash and dry Luna costs about $12. And best of all, the attendants do the clean up!
Update: The kennal doesn’t want to take her because they have a lot of intack German Shepard males at the moment. So, I’ll get some tranquilizers from the vet instead.
The HOSE?!? Puppies get bathed in warm water. At least that’s what all of mine have told me. The only time I took the hose to a dog was when Ursula went straight from the bath to rolling in the mud in the back yard and I wasn’t going to wash down the bathroom twice. She thought she was being tortured.
Luna wanted out about an hour ago, even though it is still raining, so now she’s asleep on the covered porch because I refuse to let her soaked self back into the house until it’s a bit drier. Or as I told her, “you made your puddle, now lie in it.”
Don’t you love how dogs that will cringe at the touch of cold bath water will, willingly and semmingly blythely, lie in the rain, or walk into the river, ocean, or a mud puddle, etc. I think it’s the self-determination factor. As long as it’s their choice and not something imposed upon them, a little discomfort is no big deal.
Funny, I was just talking to our housemate about my ancestors (the goths/saxons) and their despoiling ways. My other heritage is viking, so no respite there.
Terry Jones of Monty Python and Cambridge has an interesting book that rethinks the Goths, among other “Barbarians.” It’s a fun read. It’s called, fittingly enough, Terry Jones’ Barbarians. If you enjoy history, it’s worth the time. It might change your “Goth” guilt! The BBC series maybe avilable where you are. We are cableless, so I haven’t seen it.
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!! I went to a candidate forum today where they were debating. Of course John Carter the incumbent didn’t show as usual but Mary Beth harrell and the libertarian candidate did. I will be editing the recording and posting Mary Beths responses later tonight.
I am tired and I also think I am coming down with something. I am hoping it is just my allergies acting up but…. so I am taking care of myself and trying to keep from getting sick this close to the elections. LOL
I was over at a kid`s house today & we talked of those lizards, btw. He has a collection of reptiles that is very healthy & that he must be knowledgeable about to be able to keep them. He has snakes [4]
a tortoise, many lizards. I`ve been giving his 14 yr. old brother fresh water fish & saltwater corals for his tank. The younger one knew all about lizards & reptiles incuding the one you posted.
He had an appendectomy and is out of surgery and in
recovery. Two hours instead of thirty minutes…a bit more invasive than hoped but got it all out…..not ruptured as feared. He will have 6-7 days in hospital recovering. SN is still with him at the hospital and probably will be there for 2-3 days more.
So I thought I was going to the eye doctor just to have him look at some pictures they took a couple of weeks ago and tell me what shape my eyes are in.
Instead they ran me through the full set of tests, dilated my pupils and THEN told me what shape my eyes were in. Actually, they’re in pretty good shape, apparently — no diabetic retinopathy. I do need to see my usual eye doctor about some elevated pressure in a few weeks, though.
Should I repost my new song or did everyone get to see it this morning? Dada offered to accompany me on the guitar; I have to admit, it’s more of a guitar song than a banjo one.
OK, for those who missed it earlier, here is a song that just sort of came to me in about an hour this morning. Now that I revisit it I might have to change it around a little, because the chord structure I had in mind (which sure seemed to come easy) is pretty much the same as for the song “Storybook Love” — the song that plays over the end credits of The Princess Bride — and the melody is pretty similar. It’s doubtful this song would ever amount to anything, but being sued for copyright infringement by Mark Knopfler and Warner Brothers isn’t high on the list of goals I’ve set out to achieve for myself.
I’m a big fan of Marx and Lennon,
Marx and Lennon, Groucho and John.
Lennon singin’ ’bout peace and justice,
Groucho’s swagger and carryin’ on.
I remember when I was a young ‘un,
I watched the Beatles on TV,
The Marx Brothers in dozens of movies,
It all made an impression on me.
John wrote the songs of a generation —
Nobody Told Me, Happy To Dance,
Strawberry Fields, All You Need Is Love,
Woman, Imagine, Give Peace A Chance.
Groucho made us laugh with his brothers,
Always irreverent, charmingly odd,
They were more alike than different,
Kindred spirits, peas in a pod.
Had a dream about John and Groucho
A celestial Day at the Races,
Everybody dancing and singing,
Big smiles on their angel faces.
Groucho beltin’ out Instant Karma,
Chico and Harpo and George in the band
While John leered at Margaret Dumont —
That’s my kind of promised land.
Gonna get myself a long black tailcoat,
Paint a mustache on my face,
Get a guitar and spread the gospel
Of Marx and Lennon all over the place.
Can’t help but think this tired old world would have
A better future to build upon
If there was less Karl and more Groucho,
Less Vladimir, and more John.
Very nice. I`m a big fan of the better two. How you put the two together is well done.
So now you get to hear the one about the talking clock.
“A drunk was proudly showing off his new apartment to a couple of friends late one night, and led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong and a mallet. “What’s with that big brass gong?” one of the guests asked. “It’s not a gong. It’s a talking clock,” the drunk replied. “A talking clock? Seriously?” asked his astonished Friend. “Yup,” replied the drunk. “How’s it work?” the friend asked, squinting at it. “Watch,” the drunk replied. He picked up the mallet, gave the gong an ear-shattering pound, and stepped back. The three stood looking at one another for a moment. Suddenly, someone on the other side of the wall screamed, “Knock it off you asshole…it’s three-fifteen in the morning!”
Hahahaha, that’s funny. Sort of like you don’t need to own a watch at night in New York. All you have to do is turn on your radio near an open window and someone will tell you “Shut dat *&%#! thing up, it’s three in the morning!”
Anyone care for a drink on the lawn?
Is clothing optional…oops I thought I was replying to Rep. Foley.
Hey we run a high class establishment.
I’ve seen the people let into this cafe. The person with the hookah fixation, person hookah/marmult Fixation, that person name mary from St. Lous.
Ah yes, but they are very high class.
Who couldn’t love a hookah, marmult and Mary? 🙂
Sounds like the name of a bad ABC after school special
“Hookah,Marmul & Mary” Adventures at the Pond.
Usually for the pond I think we should stay out of prime time. 🙂
No Frogland TV specials featuring me unless I get royalties 🙂

Hey IVG! I was wondering where you’ve been…
Hey to ya too CG! This summer done got away from me due to insane work and home responsibilities. I do pop by to read the FP most days but don’t get much further due to limited time. 🙁 I want work to slow down so I can have a life again! (I know, waaahhhh, lol)

Hi IVG.
Best wishes to C’s dad. I hope everything turns out all right.
Don’t you get to overstreched and take care of yourself.
I’ll take what’s every handy.
I think, with one more cup of tea, I just might start having some higher brain functions. Now I know that some people like getting through their days without waking that pesky forebrain, but I find that I need all the help I can get.
Hi Keres.
I’ve been trying to jump start my brain for years.
I read about you sleeping on the floor. My sympathies.
I’ll be calling “doggie camp” this morning to book her in for a few days.

LOL I’m sorry keres, but you last sentence just made me laugh.
Poor you and poor Luna.
It’s just started raining, which is a good thing – what with the drought and all. With any luck it will rain all day.
And it’s all the more reason to book Luna into doggie camp. They’ve got great big outside runs where she can get as dirty as she wants, and they bathe her just before I pick her up.
With the size of Luna, that might be a weekly thing in my book. 🙂
Yeah, at $14 a day, I’d have to keep her there a week before it would cost me more than taking her to the groomers.

Life with critters is one big adventure.
I guess with the size of George, it would take me about 30 cents. 🙂
Since it takes a minimum of $8 to start the bath, I’ve noticed that people with small dogs tend to, sensibly, load them all in at once.
Or, you could wear your bathers and get in with George – just to make sure you get your money’s worth.
I think I’ll stick with the hose on the patio. 🙂
The HOSE?!? Puppies get bathed in warm water. At least that’s what all of mine have told me. That’s only during summer, otherwise it’s in the bathtub.
Trust me, George is a very spoiled dog. 🙂
Somehow, I suspected that was the case. 😉
Don’t you love how dogs that will cringe at the touch of cold bath water will, willingly and semmingly blythely, lie in the rain, or walk into the river, ocean, or a mud puddle, etc. I think it’s the self-determination factor. And the Germans have mounted assaults across the Pyrenees for centuries.

Ah – happy hour.
Must mean that it is time to get out of here!
Hi ask.
Get thee home and relax. 🙂
OK, FM.
Shutting down now, as ordered!
Good for you! 🙂
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!! I went to a candidate forum today where they were debating. Of course John Carter the incumbent didn’t show as usual but Mary Beth harrell and the libertarian candidate did. I will be editing the recording and posting Mary Beths responses later tonight.
I did a new video to the tune “American Idiot”.

Hi Refinish. How’s it going?
Hi familyMan!!! doing pretty good. Tired and taking a break. LOL
You must be very tired if you are taking a break. 🙂
Hey gotta run an errand real fast.
Back in awhile.
I am tired and I also think I am coming down with something. I am hoping it is just my allergies acting up but…. so I am taking care of myself and trying to keep from getting sick this close to the elections. LOL
Wenesday boudoir shot.
Interesting, very interesting.
Are you thinking what I`m thinking?
This is what I was thinking about, in case you thought I was being rude.

Like Escher
A lizzardly G’day from some cousins downunder.
I was over at a kid`s house today & we talked of those lizards, btw. He has a collection of reptiles that is very healthy & that he must be knowledgeable about to be able to keep them. He has snakes [4]

I have been wondering/worrying about that all day.
my trip today wnet on and on which made you worry longer than you had to.
Thanks for the update Andi.
You’re welcome.
In case I don’t talk to you tomorrow — have a safe trip.
Thanks Andi.
Glad to hear even though your trip went on and on you had a safe one.
Sending Warm Thoughts of Love & Healing!!!!

Hi Omir.
Glad to hear the eyes are OK.
Why not go ahead and post it again for the people who weren’t around today.
Comin’ right up.

I Love it and when you record it I want to make a video for it.

I guess the drunk didn`t have a radio, but the “not needing a watch” is a funny one as well. It got me chuckling at the mental picture.
Night everyone. It’s past this geezers bedtime.
Have a good night in the pond.
Sweet Dreams FamilyMan!!!! With all the naps I was just sure you could stay up later. LOL
