Warning: You might want to skip this if you’re on dialup. In my opinion it’s worth the effort, though.
I have missed you terribly at MLW.
You are just so nice to say so.
Just for that, I’ll have to stop by and say hello.
I love this one!
And I see we can all do this now…cool!
Sssssssh . . . don’t tell anybody or they’ll all be doing it. 🙂
you wrestled the gnome and were victorious.
Yes, why yes I did. And now BT will never be the same.
Actually it was never the same before, but that’s another story.
🙂
I didn’t realize I had filled such a void.
’round these here parts … 🙂
Oh gawrshk, now you got me blushing.
🙂
Thanks Omir.
of Knighthood….I now dub thee Sir Omir…
/Rowan Atkinson, [AKA: the BlackAdder] “Welcome to Hell”/Dial up warnig, but well worth the effort. [h/t to c&l]
many thanks!!!!!!
enjoy!
Yeah, I saw this the other day. Rowan Atkinson is hilarious in any event and this was great.
I just had to try it for myself…sorry! 🙂
That’s OK, I suppose I wouldn’t have turned it on if I didn’t expect people to use it. 🙂
It doesn’t get any better than the Muppets, does it?
LOL
That’s a fun one.
“Best of the Muppet Show” from Amazon just to get that song… 🙂
My goal in life was to grow up and become one of the Muppets troupe. I failed, utterly.
Sob!!
That’s a great one. I remember listening to mariachis in Austin, but none of them were quite that big. Usually it was like three or four guitars, a marimba, maybe a trumpet and a violin.
There was some great Mexican music down there. At night “La Ranchera de Monterey,” a Mexican radio station (call letters might have been XEJ but I’m not sure) came in loud and clear with ranchera all night, every night.
I went looking for my favorite YouTube video but apparently it got taken down, probably because CBS told them to. It was a clip of Steve Martin, Earl Scruggs and three other virtuosi performing on the David Letterman show as “Men With Banjos Who Know How To Use Them.” So this one will have to do instead.
were the collaborators of Mariachi Vargas de Tacalitlan, Mariachi America y Los Camperos de Nati Cano. Top groups in the world all performing together = bliss.
I’ve been practicing my guitar lately, I have alot of admiration to you and the rest of the banjo players for the ability to play so many notes so quickly. I’m still trying to build calluses on these blogger fingers. :/
Me? Play those notes quickly? HA. In fact I don’t play bluegrass, which is what Earl Scruggs is famous for. I’m not quite that coordinated. I play more of a clawhammer/mountain banjo, which doesn’t have quite that many notes to it. Not that I wouldn’t like to learn some bluegrass, but I just seem better suited for the other stuff.
The way they do it is to fingerpick the rolls as a steady stream of eighth notes, but to occasionally pull on, hammer down or slide to get two sixteenth notes out of a single strike. They’ve also practiced a lot so they can play fast. But knowing that’s how it’s done doesn’t help me do it. LOL.
You are making me think of Flaco Jimenez, listening to conjunto in Texas, a bit different, but close by.
I usually hate clicking through to a YouTube bit, but I’m glad I did. Thanks, Omir.
