Boo-Man, being a Yanks fan, do they get rid of A-Rod? Sheffield? Johnson? Mussina? Who??
Booman, what’re you planning to do on Election Night? I’m gonna be liveblogging from PA-08.
PA-08 is definitely where the best party will be.
Go Bears!!!!!!!
Also am a fan of The Pats, Colts and Broncos. (a Lions fan who has no team of “his own” to root for.)
The Bears could make it to the Super Bowl this year. I don’t see much to keep them from it, if they keep playing like they can.
There’s a rumor of big news about the Lions tomorrow. I’m hoping the franchise is being euthanized.
You might want one of these. [via Coudal Partners web site.]
Oh my God, those are great. Will order several for my family tomorrow. Thanks for the link!!
I wish you luck with continuing to mark the victories. I used to be a Bears fan, when my homie Walter Payton was there. I haven’t kept up with them or any other football for the past decade or so, but I do think of the Bears as one of MY teams. Since the Saints were my team down here for all the years of my youth, it was nice to have a team to root for that actually did well from time to time!
Thank you Blueneck. This just may be the year. I too faded away from sports for about a decade, especially while living on Kauai. It comes on over there at six in the morning. Ditka did a great leadin to the game a couple weeks ago, comparing 85 to now. It was outstanding. In fact I watched it again over at my son’s last evening as he had Tivo;d it. He was raised back near Chicago so is a diehard Bears and Cubs fan. Maybe this time they can go all the way undefeated. They lost one to Miami in 85 and that is who they play this week. Keeping all my bodily parts that will do so crossed…lol.
I’m definitely anti-Miami. The last inkling of pro-Miami sentiment I had was for the Griese-Kiick-Csonka days. That was superbowl VII, 1973, I think! It’s hard to believe I am old enough to remember that, but the years keep stacking up…
Afgain, good luck to Bears and fans…
and immediately thought of the UC Berkeley Golden Bears, currently leading the Pac-10 (thanks to Oregon State’s beatdown of USC last week); normally I hate Cal because they’re Stanford’s main rival, but Stanford totally sucks this year and I have a niece that’s now attending Cal so I’ll tolerate them for her sake… 😉
Next week will be the test for your team and mine when the Bears come into Giants Stadium. So far the Bears have played against only one real good team, the Seahawks. They have a sweet schedule and are playing another flat team, the Dolphins, this week. They might go to the superbowl, and if they do represent the NFC I’ll root for them. But the Giants are in good shape right now to be the biggest challenge to them in the NFC.
Good luck! :o)
And good luck to you my friend 🙂
It should be a great matchup. Care to make a little wager sweetie…teehee!
GO BEARS! GO BEARS! GO BEARS!
A wager? How about if the Giants win, you come to the east coast? :o)
Btw, my best friend, an evangelical of all things, is a Bears fan, and I’ll be at his house for the game. I can’t wait to see him on his knees praying for a miracle LOL :o)
mmmmmmmmmmm…even though I am very confident that the Bears will beat your Giants, that may be a bet that is a little too steep for me. If the Bears win you come to westcoast? Hope your friend has an open line to the God of his understanding.
By the way are you going down to DC this week to join Cindy for the Sit Down Stand Up for Peace gathering in front of the WHite House?
Shi!
I didn’t even know about it to tell you the truth. I’m not in the position to do much of anything right now unfortunately. I’m saving my limited protesting options for Nov.8th if needed. But I will try mightily to make the next west coast meetup. I’d rather go there anyway since I haven’t seen the Pacific since I was 11 years old.
I like it, I like it! See ya soon brother!! I will be looking to coordinate the date this time to something going on like a rally or Arlington West. Gotta go watch my grandleezy play soccer. It’s playoff day! Have a great weekend.
Grandleezy is fortunate to have you on her side :o)
You have a great day yourself :o)
has it’s 2nd biggest festival of the year this weekend with the All Souls Procession. I plan on joining in the festivities as we remember all of those who have died in the desert seeking a better life. Not too frivolous, but the skeleton costume that I’ve been working on for the past couple of days might be :o)
It would be cool if you’d post a picture. And even cooler if you’d combine that with some stories about the Mexican cultural traditions about skeletons. I know zero about that, except for lots of images stuck in my head from miscellaneous sources, and I’ve always figured there must be great stories there.
what I can cook up, in the meantime here’s a good starting point on the skulls found on the altars for El Día de Los Muertos. It has developed as a synergy between pre- and post-conquistador roots of Latin America.
does an awesome Dia de los Muertos exhibit every year — it’s running through early December, but I’m hoping the spouse and I can get up there and see it late next week. The museum’s a hop, skip and jump away from the Lake Merritt BART station, so we’ll likely drive over to Fremont and BART up from there… 🙂
Thank you very much. Absolutely fascinating. That’s a rare example of something read while blogging that cannot help but stick, make an impression, possibly inspire.
This is, of course, especially poignant in view of the current rebellion in Oaxaca.
Now I’m going to try to find some articles on Posada. I’m amazed to see I’ve never heard of him before.
Is it possible to save a video from YouTube? Also, how would I post one here? I found my favorite SNL skit and thought I might share it.
Thanks
Hi TT
It’s done thusly…grab/copy the “Embed” tag from the box to the right of the vid, and paste it in the comment window. Be sure to post as a New Comment, not a Reply or the margins will go…just to be on the safe side I always change the width from “425” to “400”…
Preview is your friend…:{)
Is it okay to gloat about Ted Haggard??
He admits the massage with the gay muscle man bodybuilder escort dude who only advertises in gay publications. But no sex!
The voicemail nails him trying to buy meth. So he admits he bought meth. But he never used it!
Even though the voicemail has him saying he needs “more.”
And even though $200 worth of meth is enough to sustain a month of use. That’s a LOT of meth. No WAY that’s somebody just thinking of experimenting.
In real life, nobody pays for the first time they experiment with a drug.
We’ve all been terrified about a crafty Karl Rove October Surprise–and all the recent surprises (except for John Kerry’s Skull & Bones attempt to shore things up for his frat brother George; I actually think that’s more or less true, perhaps unconsciously) have been the veritable WRATH OF GOD upon Republican hypocrisy.
As I heard on dKos (Father, forgive me, I still read at dKos, although they won’t let me post there), my schaadenfreude meter has broken!
Diane Rehm is so politically correct that she summarized the scandal on her show today by saying the reverend was accused of “paid sex” and “illegal drugs.” Do you notice anything missing from that description? (I love Diane Rehm btw.)
According to John Dean in his wonderful little book Conservatives Without Conscience, after the Scopes trial in the 1920s, the fundamentalists retreated from the political sphere for 50 years. It was actually Jimmy Carter who played a fate-filled role in waking up that slumbering beast, which was quickly possessed and occupied by demons like Pat Robertson.
Bringing me to this point: the one thing I’ll be most interested in on Tuesday (aside from whether the good guys take back both houses) is the percentage of evangelicals who vote compared to other groups.
Sorry for disorganized post. Excuses: super election excitement combined with pain medicine (which I almost never take) for a frightening medical problem.
Medical problems are often frightening…
One of my co-bloggers at T.P.S.M. is paranoid that they appeared to be flicking a booger at the police earlier this afternoon. No one would ever do that, of course.
