I don’t need no YouTube when I got to Al Gore today!
…tell your neighbors and friends to support the progressive candidates on Tuesday !

h/t to Man Eegee for introducing me to Ozomatli. Here is their “Saturday Night.”
Go Russ! Go John! Progressives in 08!
Oh, my. Super. . . I had no idea you were so talented.
squeeze the soul out of music?
Just talented that way, I guess.
There’s a few exceptions, though. Ever hear of a guy named Tony Joe White?
I should have said, “Some white people.” I saw the Brady clip and couldn’t help thinking of Pat Boone, the Polish champion of the White-Belt-and-Shoes-with-Plaid-Slacks-in-between-Look, and his wretched cover versions of Little Richard songs. What he covered them in is still a matter of conjecture. The material is unquestioned, but the species is a mystery, due to the unusual cube shape of the covering material.
As for Blue-eyed Soul: Joe Cocker and South Side Johnny top my list.
for telling me how to do this.
Time to get out the black hoodies and do it this time!!
I’ve never liked rap and I’ll never be a big fan of Eminem. But after seeing this video and hearing some of his other work, I can at least appreciate that the guy has some talent, even if it’s applied in a style that I don’t care for.
Speaking of the Brady Family …
That was painful.
I made it through 30 sec. Man, I’m winded. Like a knee to the unmentionable manly place.
Thanks BooMan – I needed that!
Just make sure the kids are not nearby when you listen to this! lol
How do you embed the viewer? I’ve got one I’d like to post.
Hi KB. On the You Tube page there is an imbed link. You use that. Be sure to preview.
You might not want kids in the room when you play this, but it’s very well. Verrrry.
!!
has to be the most ridiculous dunk of all time.
I mean really, jumping over a guy who is 7’2″?
On a serious note, I was a serious kid when this song came out. I took the song to be a warning to be suspicious of all political leaders and all political movements. Good advice. If we do win on Tuesday, we need to keep the same watchful eye on those we elected as those we opposed.
On an sensory note: IT’S THE WHO. TURN THE DAMN THING UP T0 11. Why do you think I’ve got hearing aids, anyway?
I took it the same way then too – just as now. Glad you enjoyed The Who – too 😉
Simply the Best
Peace..like don’t trust anyone over 30. Any aging hippies feel free to chime in.
Was that Peter Tork doing the intro? If it wasn’t it was his twin brother. I actually didn’t know until today that he was Steven Stills’ roommate at one time and part of the Greenwich Village music scene back in the day. (I was goofing around on Wikipedia and found Michael Nesmith’s entry, which led me to the Monkees’.) Another fun fact: Stills made the short list for the show, but didn’t want to assign all of his music publishing rights to Screen Gems. (He apparently looked too old besides.)
I just like the song 🙂 Typical Gen X-er, I know
I was about to say, Manny – great choice – but you are far, far too young to really appreciate this.
I can’t hear this without remembering torches, soldiers with long hair, . . .
It’s still one of my favorites. Just do not let me here it in a commercial.
Well, there’s a lot there to like. “For What It’s Worth” was in rotation when I first got interested in Top 40 radio as a just barely pre-teen.
And I think that probably is Tork. I just wanted independent confirmation.
and Manny’s got the hookah out…

if the Enn-Ess-Aye doesn’t git ya, then PETA certainly will. I hope you invested in a good home security system.
If they haven’t gotten me by now, I like to think they never will. I wish it was because I was so good at throwing them off the scent, but the truth is, as an Enemy of the State, I just ain’t that interesting. Like Arlo Guthrie says to the airport screeners, “You guys don’t understand. I’m not nearly the threat I had once hoped to become.” (I like to think he’s underestimating himself.)
I was signing off for the night and I had to check recent comments one more time. This was wonderful. I laughed so hard, that I really regretted have to report you to PETA and to Washington State’s Child Protection Service.
Weird Al is one of my heroes. Last year for Christmas I got a collection of his videos, which are pretty hilarious. One of my favorites is “Bob,” a parody of Subterranean Homesick Blues complete with “cue cards” where all of the lyrics are palindromes:
I use to hear Weird Al on Dr. Demento back in the late 70s. He is always good for a laugh.
Not only is he funny as all getout, he is an exceptionally talented musician. He is apparently considered one of the best accordion players in the country (he’s been playing since age seven). Not only that, you have to have a very good musical ear and sensibility to be able to accurately parody the style of another musician or group, and he does it all the freakin’ time. Often with the help of the artists he’s parodying! I seem to remember hearing that Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl helped him out on “Smells Like Nirvana,” for instance.
His Wikipedia page says he’s sold more comedy albums than any other artist. That’s almost hard to believe when you consider that we’re talking about people like Spike Jones, Allen Sherman, Homer and Jethro and Ray Stevens; but then again, his albums have all been in print since 1983, and I can’t think of any other comedy musical act other than maybe Homer and Jethro that’s had that kind of longevity and popularity right off the top of my head. Spike Jones, maybe; I don’t know how long the City Slickers were together.
What about these guys?
Loved the weasels, BTW.
Thank you for another view of small town Indiana life.
Yeah, I thought about them, but they were together something like 15 years — rough guess: 1970 to 1985, and gave up on albums after a few years to concentrate on movies. Which is a pity, because the albums were screamingly funny.
I have four words: “Put Down That Pickle!”
OMG — that was soooo perfect! Although I think I’m going to be humming it the whole time I canvass tomorrow.
Consider it a metaphor for Tuesday, when we will have our own weasel stomping day. 🙂
it’s kinda gross.
And your point is . . . ?
I decided to see if YouTube had the “Bob” video. And guess what?
Too hot to hoot!
One of the first videos I remember watching — probably at least 20 years old now…geez, I’m getting freakin’ OLD:
appropriate for the hour…
Ok folks, teach me how to do this please.
Actually Mr. BooMan, this might be a good addition to the FAQ (which needs upgrading).
you can update it under special pages. If you want, of course.
Well, it’s your FAQ, I figured I’d let you update it.
But if you’re giving me permission, I’ll do it today.
if you leave it to me it will never get done… 🙂
Considering that up until a minute ago it said “Booman Tribune has been around for four months now,” I guess so. 🙂
more than just a latin word.
